I love how somehow Saran manages to maintain all her dignity and the upper hand when she ends up being a waitress for Damo and one of his arranged 'suitable' dates. Oh, and Damo keeps devouring her with his eyes. Good luck getting over her, dude.

You know, if Damo told her the truth during the break-up, i.e. "I am beginning to seriously fall for you, but you socially not suitable to be my wife, so I'd like to end it before I get in deeper. My apologies", he'd still have a hard road to win her back but nowhere near as hard. But I do think that he broke up the way he did with her in a way as precaution - to make her really hate him and never want him back - that way even if he couldn't bear it and tried to get back with her, she won't take him. (Well, that, and a part of him would have loved if it was all as simple as lust and lust only). Of course, he didn't realize how much he loved and needed her until it was too late and now is reaping what he'd sown. I do like that he doesn't try to 'explain' his real break-up rationale - because it wouldn' fix things and would come across as horribly whiny and pathetic and self-serving - no, apologize and try to win her back is the right thing to do, not make excuses. Anyway, here he is proposing and being turned down.

Yesss!!!! He gets the head gisaeng to agree he can work at the gisaeng house (for free) to try to prove to Saran this isn't a whim and he does love her. That means being a servant of sorts and calling her 'my lady' (when she is all 'stop being sarcastic' he replies she is his lady so he isn't. Awwwww).



OMG, he flips her shoes so she can just step into them when she leaves the room. Meeeeeelting.

I sort of died here. He got a tip (from a bunch of old guys who were cooing over his hotness. For a second I thought I was in another drama entirely :P) and goes to give it to her. She is all 'wtf, why are you giving me your money?' and he tells her it's because from now on his honey gets everything he earns :P So cute!!!!!!!





He gets her orange juice later to get her energy up and she's all "that's going to make me gain weight" (gisaeng's looks are her all, after all) and he's all "so?" ILY, Damo. And she drinks it as he holds the cup to her mouth and wipes her lips with his sleeve. Swooooooooooooon. I want a hot chaebol to be my personal servant and baby me like I am porcelain. Pls?




Underwater kissing! Hot! Even if she scratches him all over. A typical conversation esues "Go away with me and get married." "Nope."





He paid somebody so that he could clean her shoes.




"My lady, I believe I may be a pervert. My back hurts and everything else does too, but I am happy." EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

She gets smacked by head gisaeng.



Honestly, she's clearly miserable and humiliated working there. Yes, yes, I get it, you want to show your brith parents who dumped you and your steppparents who are horrid and your ex who broke your heart, but have you ever heard of 'cutting off your nose to spite your face?' You don't have to marry Damo if you don't want - he'll gladly find you a job as a dancer somewhere. Better to be dependent on someone like him than a wide parade of drunk guys, honest.



Listening to her sing and then her having to sit with guests and pour them drinks.





She ended up having to drink a ton of liquor (great job you got, girl!) so he brings her a hangover remedy.





You know, at this point, even if the truth about her birth (i.e. her Dad being from a good family, high up etc) comes out, Damo's parents would still not want her as a daughter-in-law and I can't blame them. Can you imagine them taking her to some society party and bumping into one of her clients?

I also want my medal. You recapped all my favorite scene. and I agree with you about saran... she's ..uhh "slightly" headstrong/stubborn.

I still love her though, just b/c she's such a fatalist while damo is a romantic. I just REALLY REALLY hope she doesn't go through this new plan of hers to chase away Damo. I'm all for revenge, but when you have to sacrifice yourself and your wellbeing for revenge... it's just not worth it.

I love her too, and I can see where she's coming from. The one time she departed from her 'proper lot in life' and stuck her neck out getting involved with Damo, she got slapped down horribly.

And if you think about it, too much happened to her too fast - found out her whole life has been a lie, her 'parents' are awful, man she fell for was manipulating/using her (how is she to know he didn't mean what he said? She can't read minds). etc etc. She sort of snapped.
