One of my favorite songs

Is this Russian song (the title, translated is "if there hadn't been a war"). It makes me think of one of my great-aunts, who was married to her husband for a month, until he went off to fight in WW2 and was killed. She never remarried.

It's not fair! Why do you Russians have such great songs about war (whether about the devastations of war, or patriotic stuff)? Like, I just don't know of any Chinese songs along the same themes that have comparable emotional force.

That "our grandchildren would already be going to school" line made me all teary. :'-(

And then this reminded me of YWotYC's Seven/OTP. :'-(

Yes, but China has amazing epic shows while Russia - not really.

Oh, I managed to supress Seven/OTP :( I haven't progressed past ep 36 at all because I lack the will to deal with the misery :(

Yeah, when I think about what my grandparents' generation went through, I get goosebumps.
