This is the background picture on MBC's Festival page, and when I saw it, I made loud guppy-type noises.

AHH, SO CUTE!!!!

I have no idea why I am so rabidly excited about Festival, and have been since it was announced. Sure, I like Park Shin Hye and Jung Yong Hwa well enough, but I am easy to please and like most actors, and I am not a rabid fan of either of them. I preferred his character in YAB to get the girl (he treated her much better, the old kdrama complaint) but it's not as if he and PSH are reprising their YAB roles (thankfully, her role drove me nuts). And I am generally not the hugest fan of kdrama romcoms. The last one I genuinely enjoyed from beginning to end was Playful Kiss, and that was last summer/early fall. And the last one I truly loved - might be all the way back with City Hall.

So, no idea. But I am rabidly pre-obsessed about it. Maybe because I've been watching a ton of grand cdrama epics and a little romcom seems like a fun change. Maybe because, for whatever reason, it's not feeling like a kdrama romcom to me, but a twdrama one, with a little jdrama vibe thrown in, and that is a combo I do go rabid for. Plus, this character description sounds delicious:

Lee Shin (21) is a university student majoring in modern music.
He is the vocalist of band "The Stupid" and also plays the guitar. He is known for his good looks and for his strong passion for music. However, he is a cold person and is uninterested in things non-music related. He has no dreams nor plans for the future. In the drama, he initially likes a dance professor at his university. But it is all going to change as he meets Lee Kyu-Won (starring Park Shin Hye).

Lee Kyu Won (21) is a bright and outgoing student who was born into a prestigious family, and is majoring in traditional Korean instruments, especially the gayageum. She is a very outgoing. Kyu Won's grandfather, Lee Dong-gun, is one of the top 3 traditional music singers of his age. And his biggest wish is to have his grand-daughter trained to become a traditional music child-prodigy in 10 years' time. Trying to live up to her grandfather's expectations, Kyu-Won immenses herself in traditional music training and becomes a university student who knows nothing about anything besides traditional music. As Kyu Won's friends are fans of "The Stupid", she was forced to go to the band's concert with them and there she saw Lee Shin, performing life. She is immediately captivated by him.

I don't know - it just sounds like so many fun jdrama/twdramas to me. With the added bonus of being (a) a college drama (b) music drama. I love both.

It doesn't hurt that Yong Hwa is no hard on the eyes (he isn't the world's greatest thespian, but I have pretty relaxed standards on the score as long as I like characters/story):

I close with a fan-made trailer. I always like how creative those are, since they are inevitably done before a mm of footage is shot, from other sources.

Why can't it ever be "plucky guy with guts ans sensitivity teaches cute heartless girl how to have fun"?

Also, you preferred his character in YAB? I was terrified of him. If someone followed me around like that i would punch them in the face. >___>

If you want plucky guy with guts ans sensitivity teaches cute heartless girl how to have fun, check out Snow Queen, and some jdramas :)

I preferred him in YAB - at least he didn't treat her like a flunkie and patronize her and order her and all 'OK, you can worship me' and boss her in a relationship. Ugh. The main couple in the drama bothered me to no end with their icky power dynamics.

Heh, this is a rather unexpected choice for a drama to be excited about. XD

I rather like Yong Hwa so even if I'm not exactly pining to watch Festival I am interested in seeing how it turns out. Boy's gone and got hotter during the past year. *g* Well, he has matured some too. It doesn't hurt that he's a pretty good singer and musician so he certainly fits the part in that respect.

Here, have some 'live' Yong Hwa http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuocR4F-M0U ;P One of my fave C.N Blue songs... 'Lie'

Drat, what am I still doing up?

Ooooh, like that song.

Yeah, this normally wouldn't be my thing, but for some reason I am so hyper for it.

I love Yonghwa on WGM, so it'll be hard for me to see him as anything but his celebrity persona... but I will try because that poster looks pretty good and they seem cute together.

Like a previous comment said, I got to know Yong-hwa first on "We Got Married" before "You're Beautiful," so it's kind of weird for me to see him as an actor. But the premise of the drama is really interesting to me--I like school-set dramas(except I think most I know are pretty long, or is it just my impression?)and the vibe "Festival" is giving seems good.

You've got a flair for finding the best clips. Thanks for sharing the fan-made trailer. :)

Ah! Creative!

They combine CN Blue and Gong 2 : Prince Hours.

The image of Park Shin Hye in "You are Beautiful" is so strong, which makes me forget how elegant she was in "Prince Hours" =O
