Yes, the subject line refers to Schemes of a Beauty. More specifically, the conversation Lady Assassin/General have in ep 8, where she tells him that when he was binding her wound he saw her breasts and in her culture it means she's now his wife.

Bwuh??????????? Guys who go to hookers must then have a lot of wives.

Also, she uses the fact that he doesn't immediately jump to marry her as proof that despite his "to me, all lives are important" he still cares about status. Once again, bwuh? I think (a) he doesn't know you at all and I am sure that is giving him as much pause as any status issue (b) it's not as if he stipped you to leer at you. Plus he had no idea of your weird customs (c) caring about lives is still not the same as seeing everyone as good enough to be your spouse. I care about the crazy homeless guy at the corner in the sense of not wanting him dead and wanting him to have food and a place to live, doesn't mean I want to marry him.

Anyway, as you can tell, I am working my way through SoaB.

I admit I am not too interested in the main character - she's too perfect in her scheming (for evil Dowager Empress, no less, boo!!!) and not damaged enough. Plus, is it me or does she look older than her supposed OTP? (Which is fine, but a bit odd for a period drama).

But I continue to ship assassin/general rabidly. Now, talk about a tough yet messed-up heroine and hot OTP. Both times they met involved swords and wounds, too. And she's using/manipulating him only she's starting to fall for him. Mmmmmm. I sort of want to have a cut with just their scenes. As it is, I skip to them.

There is a lot of breast bearing in this drama. I actually found it quite funny. (I'm up to ep 20). It's never done for purpose of rollicking fun but to make a point. Best strategy ever, flash the guys into submission.

I have to say, I find the ladies in this kinda repellent because I hate scheming manipulative people and every single one of them is. (I like this less than both JPLH and FWC because it has no character I really root for because they are all scummy).

That is true. It prevents me from being emotionally invested which after Three Kingdoms I kind of welcomed. Also the main OTP has zero chemistry so I don't care about them either. At first I was attracted by the history behind the story and I liked the focus on the ladies, now I watch it for the pretty and historical curiosity.

The main otp aren't too bad though yeah, not sizzling or anything. She looks older than him which keeps throwing me off.

I hate manipulativeness so most of these characters are a big turn off, but oddly, I like the drama.

haha! Is that Yang Mi and Micky He in those roles? Tell me if you find cuts too! =P Anyway, I think in ancient China, girls (of 'proper' status) are not even supposed to show their face/go on streets. Breasts? Even seeing her bare back/upper arms will warrant something to be done!
