In other news, my most hated character in JPLH now is Concubine De, the hypocritical evil old bat! I hope someone kills her, in a gruesome and grisly fashion, for what she did to Two.

I was DYING for you to get to this part just to see how you would react. Let me tell you, I am as much of an eight/QC shipper as they come but these episodes where these two got together just made me clap my hands like a seal. Like when he hugged her from the back? HOT.

So yeah, I still ship eight/QC but these two just surprised me with how hot they suddenly were.

Yes, I am so rabid for Eight/QC you wouldn't believe and I had zero interest in Four/QC but then eps 19/20 happened and she got under Four's armor and all of a sudden I am just flailing - they are so hot and amazing together, I find myself wishing the story would just veer into 4/QC. EXACTLY. I don't know what clicked for me, maybe it's just that I really CAN'T resist the story of a plucky young woman melting the emperor's icy son. I mean, yes, technically he did try to have her killed, but the chemistry!

Watch MRXJ/Schemes of a Beauty! It's so much less OTT than JPLH, and people operate on logic and... logic! Though it's more along the lines of manipulation and quiet, quiet backstabbing and their not so quiet consequences, so I'm not sure you'd like it, since you're all about the HanaDan-esque levels of subtlety.

Four has a somewhat one-track mind, I have to say. When he commits, he totally does it, 100%!

Just a word of warning: the Yang Mi/Mikey He pairing doesn't end well.

I already started SoB this evening :P I really liked ep 1, but eps 2-4 are not working on viki. I jumped to ep 5 then but I am completely lost as to who these people are due to skip - any quick summary of the beginning, please?

I thought Mei Ren Xin Ji/Schemes of a Beauty was good in the beginning but the last couple of episodes (5 - 10 of them? whichever of them that shift focus to the next generation of "beautiful schemers") grated on my nerves, because most of the actresses playing the next-generation roles could not act and so overdid the shrilly-evil act. So, MRXJ: Beginning was good, middle stretch was decent (got to be a bit too machination-y for me, but maybe you'll like that :) also, William Feng ShaoFeng and Myolie Wu have awesome chemistry, for all that they had like 1 or 2 episodes together - you may just find yourself torn between shipping FSF with Yang Mi or Myolie Wu, like me ;), ending flailed. Insert an "in my opinion" somewhere in there. :)

main girl become the young empress nanny. The queen want the young empress to be pregnant but the king is in love with another concubine. And also that young empress is his niece. Concubine pregnant, get killed by the queen. Main girl got like by the king. She told him, he can sleep with her but don't tell other people because she don't want to die. The king told her that he will protect her so he left her alone.

yang mi appear. she is hired killer for the queen. main girl befriend with yang mi but yang mi is cold to her as she believe there no good people in the palace. King got another concubine pregnant. Queen wants to kill her. Main girl device a plan, since the empress is too young to has a baby. Why don't take the concubine's baby and raise up as their own.

HAHAHA SEE! I'm so glad you got to these episodes. This is why I had the hots for Four before! And you were baffled and couldn't care less, but now you totally see why.

The later episodes will make you ship Eight/QC forever and ever, but these makes me quietly, guiltily wish there was an AU Gong where Four got a QC clone because they are hothothot (when FSF isn't in the scene). Ah, well, at least he got to kiss her once (got slapped for it, but a small price to pay).

You have no idea how many times I rewinded the scene above, too. Four seems to have a thing for back hugs; there's another 2 occasions later where he does it, but by then QC was all, "EAT DIRT!" so... too late!

She does! Thirteen is also a great brother - he tries to set up QC and Four to have a secret meeting in the abandoned Kun Ning Palace later at one point, and that idiot Four could've gotten to the horizontal mambo if he wasn't so focused on convincing her that he's not lying to her. So he only got a kiss in. D:

So did I, with the exception of Eight. :P I always get a kick out of watching them thaw and slowly fall desperately for female lead. Even better if she denies him and makes him suffer, at least for a while.

Funnily enough, Four unknowingly thwarts Eight and QC's escape, LOL. Or technically, Thirteen did, because he sets up Four/QC in the secret palace and Concubine Liang sees them and thinks QC's stringing both along, which is why she gets all anti-QC later and does evil things to break up Eight/QC. My heart nearly broke later on when QC pretends she's chosen Four over Eight and sets up this whole show in front of him so that he'd give up on her. It pretty much makes poor Eight eternally jealous that she still feels something for Four, even after she assures him she doesn't. :P

Yeah, I knew about the 8/QC break-up and I was pretty sure it was due to Mommy (because hey, Hanadan) but I had no idea why she'd bother because she seemed sane. That makes sense though.

I kind of liked how QC thought of breaking up by using Four (kind of serves him right, really) and Four catches on immediately. And then afterwards she disabuses him fairly quickly and he's like, "Don't tell me, I'd rather believe what you said was true!" Oh, Four. I love you but I love Eight more, sorry.

Setting Xiao Chun's house on fire to threaten QC was pretty insane though, LOL. But she becomes a kind mother-in-law later and it's kind of nice - plus the fact that both of them come from the 21st Century. Wait til you get to the part where she talks about her early life in the palace as a kindly warning to QC about being with Eight, ugh. I'm still horrified at what Kangxi did to her, poor woman.

IDK why, but watching QC interaction with Four really makes me feel for them...... urgh, I wish they could just clone her so they could both have her.

Although Four is a scheming fratricidal Prince, I still really really like him... wtf?? I generally hate the bad boys, but four is just soooo ... lonely??? someone please give him a puppy to LOVE~

I watched JPLH on viki, there's so much hate against four. I'm glad I found a fellow comrade. I get that die-hard Eight/QC shippers hate Four, but come on, we all know it can't last, so throw the guy a bone =(

I like him too - he's a smart, complicated character and I liked him as a character even before I liked him as a person.

I hate Concubine De but enjoy watching her so much! In the begining I did not see her being so evil! I love the change in 4. I was almost shipping 4/QC...but I just can't ever go against the Tsukasa character...

I would be really pleased if they ended it 4/QC for a nice change and I feel they have really good chemistry!
