dangermousie: (Young Warriors of the Yang Clan - Four)
[personal profile] dangermousie
I got to ep 31 and you give me this? This? Young Warriors, you are ON NOTICE. Leave seven alone or I am going to...well...there's nothing I can do but still, please? Leave him alone?

To make the long story short, Seven gets caught and dragged to idiot Emperor who listens to Pan Ren Mei instead of...you know...anyone trustworthy or with a logical explanation for things and decides the best thing to do is to have Pan Ren Mei use some sort of super-special super-powerful whip to whip Seven? What? Huh? The hell? Has the maker of this been hanging out with whoever made Four Women Conflict? Do they like going to fetish clubs together or something? Because, guys, quit it, for the sake of my own sanity.

(Still, nothing is ever going to top the disturbing of that sequence in LOCH2008 with Yang Kang putting metal hooks through his own shoulders and dragging a ginormous boulder as a sign of penance to his evil stepfather as a crazy psychotic way of trying to get back into his books so he can get his revenge. Ugh. I shudder just thinking of that. Ah, wuxia. I never could really hate Yang Kang turning to the dark side after all that crap he went through - it's to his credit he snapped out of it at all and/or didn't just randomly start walking through the city killing people at will and gibbering. He chose to find agency through becoming a villain because it was better than being a victim. Anyway, how did I get on LOCH2008?)

And then, Papa Yang, being the amazing amazing man he is, sees his kid isn't going to last the full punishment but is going to die, and volunteers to take the last two lashes for him. Pan Ren Mei is happy to oblige. Die die die pig person! But seriously, how do I love the familial relationships in this drama? They are the core of the drama, even more so than the romances.

Bonus cap with Four, because he's still my favorite brother and because I totally love the big bro-little bro he and Seven have going. Out of all the siblings, Four is closest to Seven - and it so so makes sense.

In other news, PRM's daughter has finally shown her true murdering psycho colors. Poor Six, he doesn't know what a horror show is about to come after him. Seriously, the whole Pan family is genetically diseased! Too bad it's not deceased instead.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

How can anyone in their right mind hurt Seven?

How can anyone in their right mind dream of writing a script that hurts Seven?

I think I'm going to camp out in the happy land of ep 28 for a while longer...

I'm the Anti-LW

Sorry for spamming your LJ.

But it's like 1:30am here and the dark side of me just came out. And I think she's craving to see Papa take the lashes for Seven from Pig Renmei. She's probably going to cry like a lunatic and scream and throw things about the room, but also be all giddy from seeing Papa being awesome and from all that wonderful family love. She's an odd type of voyeur-sadist in that way---she was also the one who got all excited way back then when the family bore humiliation at the hands of Pig Jr. (when they tried to force Six to turn himself in).

The normal part of me says I might be sold if there were more screencaps of Four. But the whole PRM Psycho Daughter thing kinda turns me off. Hmm...

... I'm somewhat disturbed by myself now. I think I need sleep.

LOL.

Four is actually not much in these couple of eps, which are pretty Six and Seven centric. Four is probably off enjoying being well-adjusted and hanging out with his fiancee.

PRM's Daughter's psycho is actually entertaining to me. Give it up, lady!

The scene where Papa Yang stepped in - was amazing.

Well, eps 29 and 30 are pretty happy too (and very Seven-centric) so...

I literally had nightmares last night after YB.

What kind of nightmares, if I may ask?

A project deadline got moved back and my brain is exploding from too much TK subbing. I think I'll make myself some chamomile tea and catch up on YWotYC. I actually tried to find a set of DVDs at a Chinese DVD store a few days ago, but no luck. :( I might really have to import it.

I'm looking at your screencap with Papa and Seven, and I know both me and my evil twin will love that scene (for different reasons).

*deep breath* Here goes...

My brain seems to have conflated YW and The Myth a.k.a. "let's do the most horrible things to Hu Ge we can think of" so I don't remember much but they were Six-centric.

Yesss! Hope you like.

Midway through 30.

Thoughts:

1. How can Seven and OTP be SO CUTE?? They're so cute together it should be illegal! Eddie Peng's facial expressions never fail to make me laugh. They are so so so so so CUTE together I don't know how to explain it. I love all the other pairings too but Seven and that bandit chick are really made for each other. They're just brimming with fun and happy. I don't know how I'm going to handle seeing impending Bad Stuff happening to him...

2. All through that meeting with the emperor, I kept going BLAHBLAHBLAH whenever the Liao guys are talking. Seriously, Emperor, how can you be that dumb? I wish Eighth Prince would just stage a coup and reclaim the throne that's rightfully his and restore some intelligence to the administration.

3. On one hand I kinda feel bad for Pan Daughter---she had no real friends; her family's totally messed up; she was locked up in a nunnery for most of her life; she fell in love with an unavailable guy... But she's way too slimy. I'm not spoiling myself yet but I can see that she has huge psycho potential. Ugh ugh ugh.

Thanks for giving me that push to keep watching, though!

Midway through 31.

1. That scene with Four and Five defending Tian Bo House was breathtaking. The majestic way they stood their with spears in their hands sent my heart aflutter. And Four is working as a team with Five! Defending the honour of the family! Looking with disdain upon the curs of the Pan house! I wished that moment would last forever.

2. Papa Yang is just amazing. I wish there are more words in English that can describe him. He's amazing amazing amazing. The way he maintained his dignity when Minister Pig surrounded his house. His composure before Emperor Moron. The humble way he took responsibility and shared his kid's suffering. The matter-of-fact way he said to Seven "of course I have to bring you back home alive". He's calm and doesn't have to be aggressive or indignant, but you can see how he's the one in charge of the whole situation. He's never once lost control over the whole thing from beginning to end. Papa Yang allow me to worship you!

3. Tangent: I'm glad they gave some explanation about why Papa had been so tough on Six all along (though that spanking scene really didn't sit well with me). I liked that story with the wolves. I don't like how things started to get all ominous now with everyone talking about Six being "the Bane of the Liao". It reminds me of how this story is supposed to end and I don't like it a bit!

4. The contest between Six and YLX was supposed to be a "friendly competition"? Why do I see a floor of spikes beneath the hanging rings where the flag is? Who designed this obstacle course??

5. This was the first time since forever that I had to hold onto a stuffed animal when watching a show. I have to refluff it now because I squeezed it so hard during that whole flogging scene (I also have marks on my arms now from digging my nails into my skin). I think I shall need a sturdier stuffed animal if I ever get to the later episodes.

Boy was that ever intense. I think I'll give this a break now---I don't think I can handle Liao politics and psycho schemes of Pan Ying and having Princess Chai get angsty after all that.

Papa Yang is amazing. I love that the family respects him but also trusts him. He's a hell of a man.

I loled when I saw the spikes too - some friendly contest. I'd shudder to ask what they would put in if they were truly competitive.

Re: spanking. That didn't bug me. The kid did just burn down the entire army's food supply and, to any reasonable person, appeared to be lying. If hands-on violence was ever justified, this would probably be it.

I am still watching this, but slowly because I am v.v. busy . I think I like it the most that there is actually some plot going on.; Seven is my second favourite at the moment, I still love Five the most (but I haven't seen Four yet). I am going to go on the major Wuxia path after Yang brothers.

Let me know if you'll need some wuxia recs. That/period cdrama is my favorite genre.

I am so glad you are liking it.

Which ep are you on?

Well, you know, the sameperson who's responsible for this is also responsible for LOCH 2008. And the Chinese Paladins. And Little Fairy/Fairy From Wonderland, where everything is cute and fluffy and then a giant meteor of angst, trauma, torture and Doom descended and obliterated ancient China. Almost literally.

From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
Too true. With all of those it lures me with fluffness and then bam! I remember thinking, watching LOCH2008, that I finally found a fluffy, well-adjusted wuxia, and then all that insane stuff with Yang Kang started happening and it was off to the races. Isn't Little Fairy the one where Hu Ge writes letters on walls in his own blood or something? I need to get to my dvds.

Hmm...I think it was Bobby Dou writing letters on scraps in his own blood, but it could have been on the walls, too.

It's also the one with a canon OT3 (secondary characters-he's in love with a girl from home but is essentially Destined To Be With a cat demoness who sacrifices her lives for him, so they work it out) and a character literally dying by being hit by a flying carpet.

I remember you guys discussing the flying carpet. Ahahahahahahaha.

Well, I remembered someone was writing bloody letters :)

I actually still wonder whether PRM's daughter really has anything to do with her mother's death. They never actually explained it (well, I might have missed it coz I hated seeing PRM's family on my screen) and at first I thought PRM might have misunderstood but seeing how psycho she turned out to be, it might just be possible.

From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
I am pretty sure she did, seeing that her previous excuse was her Mom had the same illness she did. Seeing she had no illness - yeah. Plus, I hate PRM and a father of the year he's not but he seemed to harbor affection for his son so he did have some affinity for family bonds.
