I am bored being sick at home and I have a ton of new people join my flist so I thought this is as good a time as any to play this game.

Ask me something. Anything. I promise to answer.

It has to be fandom-related though or at least not identifyingly personal (e.g. 'favorite color' is something I'll answer even if it's not a fandom topic but 'what's your daughter's name' is not something I will dish out).

Go at it :) I am sick and bored :)

ETA: LJ comment notifications are still spotty, everyone. I don't think it should take over a week for LJ to fix it but there you are...

Oooh, this is hard. Probably going to college - unlike most of my fellow freshmen who were homesick, I loved every second. I finally got to be me.

If I had to pick something more specific - last year, I went on a trip to the beach and I was floating in the water and looking at the clouds and there was nothing between me and the sky and it's such a cliche thing to say but I felt I was flying - this works even better than lying on the grass in the dark and looking at stars.

Not a question, but! I found out that Yahoo is the only one that's still being crap with notifications, so if that's what you have, the easiest thing to do would be to switch emails. I'm using AOL/AIM because I'm usually always on my AIM anyway, but others have used Gmail and made it so that their emails were forwarded to Yahoo (not sure how that works) or hotmail.

Thanks!

Hmmm, I wonder why that is.

I suck when it comes to memes like this, but...do you prefer dramas over movies? Or is it just that you talk more about the dramas?

I prefer dramas over movies, for the same reason I prefer long novels to short stories - more time to go into details and develop things.

How did you get into asian dramas?

Date: 2011-03-15 12:49 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
Around 2005, I discovered my first manga, Mars, and got very addicted. This was also around the time I discovered the lures of anime, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] katranna, my cousin and pusher extraordinaire :)

So my next step was to see if there was an anime of Mars. There wasn't, but I found a subbed live-action on ebay. I took the plunge, watched and fell in love.

And then I realized there was a live action adaptation of BOF, got my hands on Meteor Garden, got even more obsessed and realized Mars wasn't a fluke.

And so it went...

Aww you're wonderful. :)

I know when *I'm* sick I won't answer questions and want people to leave me alone.

What's your typing WPM? Do you do other kinds of writing outside of LJ? I'm amazed by the amount, quality, and speed of your posts and comment replies.

Also, what's your favourite type of sweets?

Thank you :)

I have no idea what my WPM is but I type really fast which is even weirder because I type with only two fingers (no idea why, nobody taught me to type properly I guess).

I am stay-at-home Mom atm, but before, the job I had involved a lot of writing and typing - it was actually 90% of my work time.

been obsessed watching cdramas lately, just wondering have you seen Rent a Girlfriend for New Years?

its got a definite My Girl feel to it. LOL.

No, I haven't. Despite my obsession with period cdramas, I've actually never watched a contemporary one. Not on purpose, I just haven't gotten around to it.

But if you say it's cute, I will do.

Why do the three main Korean TV networks have the number "15" in all of their logos? It's been driving me batty for over a year now because I can't figure it out!

Date: 2011-03-15 12:26 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ockoala.livejournal.com
Sorry to barge in (gomawo, Mousie!), but that's the Korean TV ratings system. 15 is for most dramas (suggested viewing age 15 and older).

Some cable network shows (or some primetime dramas) with darker themes, cursing, nudity, etc get a 19.

Do you have a favorite drama soundtrack? Which one, if you do?

Current one is probably Jade Palace Lock Heart - the opening and closing themes are both to die for and I like all the incidental music too. But that will probably change in a couple of weeks.

Is there something you regret getting into initially because in the end the fandom or the canon ended up severely disappointing?

Date: 2011-03-15 02:22 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
Not really. This would only apply to on-going things because if something is done I know the end.

Even when I end up hating the final product (Veronica Mars' and BSG and Buffy final season etc), I always remember how many weeks, months, years of fun it's given me.

Aw, I hope you feel better ^^

How did you transition from Tw-dramas to J-dramas to K-dramas to C-dramas or if it's easier, do you have a post documenting your origins in dramaland? ^^

Date: 2011-03-15 01:57 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
My first two dramas were twdramas because I wanted to see adaptations of Mars and BOF. Hanadan was my third drama (yup, I am addicted to BOF) and for a while, I'd just watch jdramas and twdramas. Then I decided to try kdramas, started with Full House, liked it, and added kdramas to the list. For a while I watched about even number of all of them but I sort of drifted from jdramas as time went on because they weren't telling the stories I wanted.

I discovered cdramas last thanks to flisties. I watched Handsome Siblings and Return of Condor Heroes 2006 and was hooked but there weren't many subbed cdramas out there at the time so I properly returned to them later.

I was born in the former USSR and they used to show Bollywood movies there so I was always aware of them, but the catalyst was TCM doing a Bolly festival back in 2002? 2003? I saw them and was hooked.

Favorite movies: Asoka, Veer Zaara, Fanaa, Sholay, Devdas 2002, Tere Naam, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, anything by Mani Ratnam (especially Raavan and Yuva).

I also like South Indian movies, favorite being Magadheera.

Are you planning any trips this year? If so, will Baby Mousie join you?

What countries would you like to visit in the future?

Date: 2011-03-16 03:13 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
It's sort of in flux but we always do a family trip somewhere nice and beachy around Xmas with Mr Mousie's family so that one is definitely on, and of course Baby Mousie is going :)

My goal is to go to Peru this year (without Baby Mousie, of course). But we'll see.

Countries on my short list (that I haven't been to): India, Greece, Austria, Korea, Vietnam, Egypt (once it calms down), Nepal, Brazil, Chile.
