A Mad and Crazed Squee: Lymond

I've finally found an actor who looks like my all-time favorite fictional character, Francis Crawford of Lymond. Never thought that would happen (he's supposed to be in his 20s, blond, blue-eyed, elegant, and startlingly attractive. Not necessarily hard criteria with actors, but he has to have a certain air about him that I never did find. Before now that is).

Who is it? Let's just say crumpeteer and elvensapphire would like him.





What is the article about? Who cares. Could he ever act Lymond? Who cares on that one too (I would hate to have an adaptation). I am just incredibly excited I found a visual!

I found it while browsing crumpeteer's lj. I mean, he is normally a very good-looking man, almost unnaturally so (I saw him in Dark Angel and went "whoa") but there is something extra about this pic: with the elegance and the shadows, and the slight weariness, that just gets me.

OMG! Jensen Ackles! He is too cute! and he has a really sexy voice in a manly way! Guh! ... but... what's that on his lips!!! That lipstick tone is killing me! And I know he's also wearing gloss... My eyes, my eyes!

I can't see it but I know Jensen Ackles is gorgeous.

Also I am of the firm view that had the show not been cancelled and Michael Weatherly been such a stupid git about 'screen time', Alex/Max would definitely have become canon. The latter episodes with the exception of the season finale were very, very much leading towards those two getting together. They were amazing when they were together. Funny in Gill Girl, the 'Fight Club' episode which was early on the piece was a hoot although the collecting of bar codes was dark.

Berrisford Agenda is just .... gut wrenching. Also the episode where he and Max are trying to steal the baseball is just a scream. Hmmm, I need to go and watch season 2 again. I love Alec .... I'll have to share a few of my vid clips and 'stuff' with you that I have collected over the ages ;)

Sorry, I am firmly on the Max/Logan side of the shipper fence. I generally am on the side of the first ship introduced, especially when they have all that angst and doom. And also, canon whore. Plus, I find MW meltingly hot. He hits my "scruffy intellectual" kink dead center. Hopefully it's not enough to get me drummed out of the ranks of koala-budddies. :P

Some photobucket accounts don't work for me. I have no idea why given that I have 3 accounts of my own. I can never view images at shadowserenity's account for instance yet winterspel's are fine. Clearly your and amsie's photobucket accounts have a loathing for Marsupials Who Like Unconventional Pairings (sounds a bit like Rodents of Unusual Size for some reason). *grin*

If you like Max/Logan you should definitely watch season 1 - they're fabulous in season 1 - really sweet, romantic and angsty. I was a huge fan of Max/Logan in season 1. I've uploadedI tried to upload one of my favourite promo video clips from season 1 for you here (will try again after class :). It's short - only 5 meg but it was a network promo for the first episode of season 1 and uses the song Tonight and the rest of my life very effectively to show the Max/Logan connection. The pilot for the series where she breaks into his apartment, and then he finds her is so great. There's also an episode later where they 'fall through a window together'. It's all wonderful stuff - and he had a lot more witty lines in season 1.

For Alec - I think he just gets so many of the good lines. He's just so full of funniness - right from the first episode of season 2. I was actually all set to hate him when I read the spoilers about season 2 because I liked Logan so much in season 1 but he really won me over and I think I didn't even bother to watch Harbour Lights because Alec wasn't in it!!! I think the writers really loved exploring his character and his interactions with Joshua are also pretty wonderful. I thought I'd hate him because he's so 'pretty' but he was so angsty yet funny that my fickle koala heart was won over...... You'll end up loving him too even if you don't ship him ;)

How far along are you in season 2? Max/Alec dynamic get really hilarious later on in the season - she's always making him do things for her which is quite cute. She really really depends on Alec and he's always there for her in a way he's there for no one else. Even if you don't see them shippily, their 'friendship' is really gorgeous. There are so many of their scenes I love... like this one from Borrowed Time

ORIGINAL CINDY: How you gonna get the money?

MAX: I'm gonna sell my soul.

ORIGINAL CINDY (indicating Alec): There's the devil.

(Original Cindy walks away. Max approaches Alec.)

MAX: What are you doing tonight?

ALEC: And why do you ask?

MAX: Got word from this fence I know. There's a collector willing to pay top dollar for Star Wars: Episode VII. After the Pulse, they shut down production. Apparently this is the only footage that exists.

ALEC: Is that the one where Captain Kirk dies?

MAX: I guess. Anyway, the reel's locked up in a vault at the Fox Building in Belltown.

ALEC: Max, are you asking me to steal something with you?

MAX: It's a two-man job.

ALEC : I'm shocked. I don't do that kind of stuff anymore, Max. I mean, you yourself showed me the error of my ways.

MAX: Did I mention your take is twenty grand?

ALEC : What time do I pick you up?

MAX: Read my lips, pretty boy. Get a life, get a job, and stop sticking your nose into mine. Don't make me kick your ass!

ALEC: You know, this whole tough-chick act thing is really unbecoming. "I'm gonna bounce you on your ass. I'm gonna smack your bitch head." It's so unfeminine.

(They continue to struggle. Max kicks Alec's wrist to loosen his grip. He drops the ball, but Max misses it, and it lands on the floor and rolls out of reach. An alarm begins to sound.)

ALEC: Great. Look what you did.

MAX: God, I hate you!

(They begin ascending back up to the ceiling.)

ALEC: Hey, I know this is a bad time, but can I get a ride home?

Hopefully it's not enough to get me drummed out of the ranks of koala-budddies. :P

I am buying both S1 and S2 tomorrow. Greedy, greedy me. I posted a link to a website I got this pic from. It's not photobucket so should work. It's definitely worth a look.

I actually love Alec and Max interactions: they make a great snarky team. I don't see them as OTP because Logan/Max 4evah and all that, but I do love watching them together.

I've watched him do quite a few roles and from blithely amoral Alec to tough yet extremely vulnerable and wounded Dean, he's always been extremely good. He has a talent for making the shlock they give him sometimes sound at least believable.

And that comment someone made about his voice, I totally second that. His voice gives me chills.

I think I may need to look into those Lymond novels now that I know the visual looks like that. I feared them because of the angst you keep speaking of.

Well, they are very angsty, but there is a lot of snark and ultimately HEA.

Jensen is a natural blond. I think they made him darken his hair some on Supernatural so he looks more like Padalecki since the two play brothers and look NOTHING alike.

It's the sexy, deep quality to it and the fact that he's southern gives him a sort of soft accent. A voice that deep doesn't sound like it should be coming out of that face.

See, I never did see s1 of Dark Angel, only s2, and for me it was always Max/Alec because of their interaction, but mostly because of the way that Alec would clearly do anything for her even though he didn't give a damn about anyone else.

*sigh*

Why do they always seem to kill the shows I like? Dark Angel, Special Unit 2, Invisible Man, Jake 2.0, and the mother of them all, Farscape. It's just not right, I tell you.

I can never ship couples that aren't couples in canon. They have to already be together for me to ship them or to have clear non subtexty feelings for each other (then they can break up or whatever and I'll still ship). I think that's a bit extreme but always been that way :)

That is exactly why I loved Alec, aside from the general snark he had. He genuinely did have human feelings about Max even though he was so completely amoral in other ways. She mattered and that was his final say when he did anything. Every girl would want an Alec (except perhaps for the sociopath thing, but hey, no one's perfect).

Ugh, really? Now my enjoyment is kinda spoiled because that invalidates the whole "we can't touch woe" thing. Plus, poor Logan! But I'll have to watch for myself, as for me "canon" is kissing or severe levels of eyefucking+dialogue indicating like. E.g. Kara/Lee weren't a ship for me until KLG1 when she fantasized about Lee in bed and he went all psycho jealous on her. I mean, I could see how people shipped them before, I just didn't.

I did find post DA books and they are Logan/Max, phew.

Ha ha don't worry. Max/Logan was still 100% canon. 99% still doesn't get you there and as you say, the post-DA books are Logan/Max. Michael Weatherly (Logan), who was at the time Alba's fiancee (I think they've since broken up) was very, very emphatic about the fact that he wanted Logan to remain Max's love interest.

Hmm. I think I could live with the idea of him portraying Lymond. ;) Although I must admit I'm having difficulties imagining him with longer hair. But I'm sure he could pull off the right attitude needed for the part. (Argh, I've got to get back to reading Lymond, I've been on a forced break due to too much work, blah.)
