OK, out of all the characters in Four Women Conflict, the character I hate the most isn't Lanyun's rapist/former master who keeps exercising his droit de segneur whenever he feels like. No, the character I hate the most and want to die is her disgusting, spineless husband who keeps muttering how he loves her and yet lets the former master rape his wife and even whips her on former master's command as former master observes. I mean - the former is just a garden variety sicko control abusive rapist but the latter is a coward on top who keeps claiming he's a good person.

Ironically, the only person who respects her agency in all of this is the Playboy (even the childhood friend initially won't let her express her feelings because of the whole 'you are married' thing).

When she tells Playboy she doesn't love him and wants to stay in her marriage (WTF! I don't care whether she loves Playboy or not, she should totally go with him because unlike her spineless disgusting husband, he'd protect her from rapist guy. I think she's not going with him because she doesn't want to drag anyone else in the mess that is her life), he is heartbroken but he doesn't drag her off for raping or some other coercion. Shocking!

He hired the musicians and the fireworks for her!

He offers for her to leave her husband and be with him (ah, the beauties of polygamy! I believe he has an official arranged wife stashed somewhere) and she says she only sees him as a friend.

Though, seriously, Playboy, I like you and all, but dealing with your angst/issues by getting totally trashed and sleeping with some random woman, isn't really the way to go! I mean, at this rate, you are going to acquire wife n2, who is still not the girl you want. I know, she rejected you, plus you know her former master is back thus she'll have to go to her horrible relationship with him (but OTOH, what can he do, especially since she won't really let him interfere) but still! Do something! Hire an assassin or similar. I hear your ex knows where to find one.

This thing is equal parts trashy and addictive.

Do you already know how it ends and is it good or bad. Totally spoil me and prevent me from having to drop out of school by watching this.

Doesn't it make it harder to watch the happy times knowing what happens next?

Not for me. I mean - at least she gets some happiness.

Plus, this drama is too insane for me to truly be emotionally involved.

This said, if you want a romantic period drama set in the same time period but with a happy ending, how about Romantic Red Rouge?

Fan Bing Bing plays a woman married against her will into this rich household that has a lot of secrets and she ends up falling for the butler (I think - some sort of upper servant) played by Wallace Huo, who's working in the household for mysterious reasons of his own.

Sounds great.Espionage and romance are mu cup of tea. Oh, it's like Alias... without Sydney being married, of course. And Michael Vartan was no butler. Except Sydney's. Maybe.

Bwahahahaha. My mind = gutter.

I don't know if it's spying or he's trying to find out what happened to a person who disappeared or what. But something.

hey just wondering what episode this is, I might just skip the start because I don't want to see the heroine's endless uncalled for pain more than I have to, I want to go straight to the OTP and the playboy falling in love

Hmmm, I think Playboy first sees her near the end of ep 4 (and it's a gorgeous scene) and starts falling for her in ep 5. Ep 5-6 is full of shippy goodness, 7 focuses on other stuff. As for after, haven't gotten there yet :)
