Withs2 picked Royal Family for subbing. Out of the new crop of the dramas, this was my most anticipated, so hooray!

Ji Sung, chaebol family manipulations, younger man- older woman! Bring it on, say I!

I also plan to check out 49 Days, Crime Squad and Thornbirds. I've given up on Midas (boring, plus a number of deal breaker concepts) and The Duo (I get my period drama caving satisfied through cdramas now) entirely.

Ji Sung!!

But why is he holding a bear?

Maybe he's cuddly like a bear? Or maybe he's creepy like a bear that sneaks up on you in the woods? Or maybe... you know, this could take a while. I'm going to go think of more.

lol I'm thinking maybe to emphasize the older woman/younger man relationship?

I didn't even think about that. So ... she's a cradle robber?

I guess so...
Its weird though because everyone looks all serious and he's standing in the middle smirking with a BEAR.

Can't get past the bear, can you?

I wondered that when I first saw the poster too, but then I saw some screenies from a flashback scene in the first ep that showed the bear all covered in blood, and then Ji Sung looking intently at it in present time, so I assume there's some dark past here.

To symbolize his cuddly interior? :)

Crap, this one has Cha Ye Ryun.... she's blander than a piece of cardboard and has the tendency suck out energy of every scene she's in. At least she's not the lead. That would be tragic.

Really, how does Cha Ye Ryun keep getting casted? In second female lead roles, no less. Major props to her management company. I can think of a million possible choices that would be more interesting to watch than she is.

Not familiar with her at all. But eh, I never pay attention to secondaries so I don't mind

Terminal cancer (or most any other illness). I am out.

Seriously?! That's BS, did the writer think we're back in the 90's melodrama era? Who's the cancer victim this time? Don't tell me Jang Hyuk gets to die again.

LOL, killing off the most interesting character in the show. Brilliant.

It's amazing how they managed to make the show sound so stale with such a good cast. And the one good show this season, New Tales of Gisaeng, is in danger of getting the chop (or at least enforced changes that we won't like).

What is it about Gisaeng? ????????????????????!!!!!!!

I am beginning to appreciate cdrama's tendency to prefilm 100% more and more.

On the latest recap at Zealioner's blog, she posts a little news update at the end about Writer Im Sung Han's official statement in response to the criticisms and about plot details (Sa Ran becoming a gisaeng), plus what's been going on with the director replacement issue.

They haven't mentioned cutting yet, but there's been a lot of fuss over the drama's low ratings anyway, and it's only a matter of time if it doesn't pick up. Plus the editing's been a bit messy in the last 3-4 episodes, with time constraints meaning the endings have been abrupt... doesn't look that good. I think part of the problem is that people EXPECT Writer Im's dramas to be a hit, after Dear Heaven, Miss Mermaid and Assorted Gems, so low teens = OMG DISASTER.

On the bright side, if they announce cutting the number of episodes bright and early, it means the plot will be tighter and there'll (hopefully) be less time spent on useless angst and weepfests like what happened with the last stretch of Assorted Gems.

Oh, good Lord.

Well, if they cut it, at least let them do it with enough cushion not to screw up the story.
