I am barely a few pages in, but I am in awe of this book. I do not even want to pause for breathing while reading it.

Of all the Llosa books, I chose The War of the End of the World cos the first line of the blurb at the back was "Deep within the remote backlands of 19th century Brazil..." and I was sold! hahaha

Oh, I've been wanting to read Amado, but his books aren't easy to find, and I don't think they're available on the kindle yet, so....

Amazon has Amado and so do my local bookstores. it's cheaper to get used copies though. He's amazing. Probably my favorite novelist ever, tied with Remarque.
