There are so many reasons why that made me scream. So many. Because this scene of Four forbidding Five from going on a suicidal mission alone and telling him he'll come with is the moment he both claims and accepts his birthright and his place in the family.

Bonus (Four and Papa Yang before the mission above). God, how I love this family.

I watched that sequence (from Four's slight regression into emo to his heroic conquest over emo by accepting his place) at least half a dozen times last night.

And I'm still screaming.

The way he said "On the basis I am Yang Si Lang"... omgomgomgomgomg.

When I said I was screaming into my pillow, I was not exaggerating. It was a good thing my husband wasn't here or he'd have thought I went nuts.

And the part where Five vowed to protect Four with his life (I think even more out of his love for his parents and understanding of Four's importance to them then duty and honor to Four) and Four, Five and Six all knelt asking for the order and you could see it was killing Papa Yang to send two of his sons on such a suicide mission but he did it. Oh oh oh.

But the part where Four said "because I am Yang Si Lang" made me scream by far the loudest. Oh, there are no words.

Thanks for the bonus cap! This episode is so perfect.

When Four, Five, and Six all knelt down, it was so heroic and loving and wonderful I have no words how it moved me. And Papa Yang ILY!!!!

If I ever tear myself away from your LJ and get my work done and manage to feed myself, I'm going to watch that section another half a dozen times again before going to bed.

How can everything be so wonderful and perfect??? How did they know that I am such a sucker for these scenes? And after all this awesomeness how can I not be paranoid about rocks falling ahead??

My husband is eating dinner and what am I doing? I am rewatching that scene. Oh. It just might be my favorite in the drama so far (I love all the romantic stuff but it really is secondary to family bonds, for me).

It's basically a whole drama of what I want and so seldom get (to reference the gentleman in your icon, while watching 3K, I found myself wishing for a whole drama centered on Sun Jian and his warrior sons and their bond, and this is sort of like this only with more family and thus more awesomeness).

I don't think the rocks will fall just yet. This is 43 eps so I think we are safe at least through 35 or so.

Round 7 of THE BEST SCENE IN DRAMA HISTORY HANDS DOWN.

I started about 15 minutes ago with Four throwing a mini emo fit about how Papa was probably just reluctant to risk Five in the mission.

And I've progressed... 3 min? Papa is still talking about how Mama would sneak into Four's room at night to wash his toys.

I keep having to pause every 2 lines to collect myself and look for a tissue. Also, in a way it's so painful (but oh so satisfying) to watch, especially when you see Four struggling with his emotions in the background. I really want Papa to keep talking but on the other hand I almost can't bear it. I'm not sure if it makes sense...

Re: Sun Jian--Yeah, I wish they'd do a whole show focusing on the Sun family (in the literary tradition and culture the Suns were merely the third faction that's just there---the focus was on the *cough*righteous*cough* Liu Bei faction and the *cough*evil*cough* Cao Cao faction. This drama series really restored the Sun faction to their historical kickassness). Grown up Sun Quan is super cute (the cutest dimples you'll find on a warlord's face) and smart, and has some fantastic scenes with his mom (my screenname's namesake). There are also some delicious (but too short) angsty scenes with Sun Quan's little sister and Lady Wu. But that's not for another 20 episodes. :(

I rewatched it too! What I really love is that Papa Yang is very masculine and very traditional yet he is shown as loving and, while somewhat reserved, not ashamed to show it. Oh, they are so amazing.

Re: SJ and family. Yes, they were one of my favorite parts and I am glad I have more to look forward to (well, not SJ himself, sadly, but the rest).
