Me likes. Not Farscape by any means, but definitely entertaining and interesting.

So the rebel leader/love interest's name is Logan? Every time the show uses it, it throws me because I expect a snarky, screwed-up boy, not post-Apocalyptic Che Guevara. Can't call him Logan as he doesn't have a yellow xTerra, so I guess I'll refer to him as "Eyes Only." If that name is good enough for the evil totalitarian dictatorship, it's good enough for me.

Also, he has to be the most put-together rebel leader ever. Usually they are reputed to have scraggly beards, stained t-shirts, a friendly uzi or two, and a homicidal gleam in beady eyes. Eyes Only looks intellectual, like Angel's Wesley, or like your neighborhood librarian, that is if your neighborhood librarian is Smoking HOT. Though it's sad to see that sharp razors are really hard to find in the future because the poor man has permanent stubble.

And we also have Jensen Ackles as Alec, the cheerfully amoral establishment boy. First impression? He is almost startlingly handsome. I can see what [livejournal.com profile] crumpeteer sees in him! Don't particularly like his character in a fluffy bunny way, but he amuses the heck out of me and I want to see more of him. Do they ever do much with his character? Oh God, now I am imagining that there are all sorts of Rebel Librarian/Aryan Mutant slash out there. Ick.

And that leads me to the "recreation is assigned" part. Have they been hanging out with the Peacekeepers? I am surprised Manticore is so lackadaisical about it (no cameras, no enforcement) in Max's case. Wouldn't they want to break her? Though seeing Alec and other specimens, they are being way nicer than this one "utopia" from 16th century that I read which had fat people forced to breed with thin people, tall with short etc, so as to produce pleasing uniformity (I kid you not. This was written by some monk with too much time on his hands). Because by that logic, Max would have to be paired with some hideous beast. Like the Dog Guy she encounters. He's more helpful than Alec and Rebel Librarian combined (or even when you subtract Alec from that combo), but being superficial, no love from me there.

I like Max. She is like this crazy mix of River and Aeryn. A much younger, more open Aeryn and a much saner, much less smarter River. Heee.

Max and Logan (OK, since this is angsty, I'll use his name just this once) can't even touch? Wow. And Buffy and Angel with their "no sex because of curse" thought they had it bad. Wimps! Ahhhh, this is just what Dangermousie likes. That bit where they have their emotional reunion and he keeps smiling and she kisses him and then he falls down? Hot angst. Even hotter when the rebel girl gun chick administers the antidote Max beat out of Evil Albino Leader to Rebel Wesley and touches his face to see he's OK and Max just stands near the window and you can tell she so wants to do it herself but can't and she is as physically far away from him as she can get and he quietly asks her to come closer and she says she doesn't know from how far she can infect him. Aaaaangst!

I like the blond rebel girl gun chick, whoever she is.

ETA 1: I went to TWoP to read up Dark Angel episode summaries and gleeeee: "Max and Logan have twelve hours to do it, and they don't. Also, there's a monster." or "Alec went undercover when he was still at Manticore, and fell in looooove with a girl. And then he had to kill her dad" sound right up my alley.

ETA 2: I did manage to get through two episodes of One Tree Hill on fast-forward. Yikes. I can only take this in small dozes. The writers get points for fixing continuity issues from Season 1 of two 16 year olds getting married. Of course, they do it by having Haley's parents be insane and give permission and then buy an RV and drive away forever, leaving their 16 year old newly-married kid. Gaaaaah! I am also amused by Tanned Momster's vehenmence against Nathan and Haley getting hitched, because she herself couldn't have been older than 19 when she got married.

It sounds like you are just about to the episode of OTH where I stopped watching.

Have you seen the previews for tomorrow's One Tree Hill? Shippers and Slashers around the world are going to glee! The premise is "Fantasy Date Night" and the preview shows everyone making out with everyone or waking up in bed together. Like Brooke and Haley, Lucas and that guy from NY, Lucas and the new girl, etc.

I'm tempted to watch just to see how bad they can make it.

Oh, that sounds hilarious. Knowing OTH they will make even that boringly bad, but I am tempted to watch...

I love Alec. He's so blithely sociopathic it's great. I mean it's one of those cases where he's AWFUL, but he's so good humored about it you have to like him. And I've loved Jensen from DOOL days until now. He's always been head turningly good looking in that "someone sold their soul" kind of way. He's a good little actor too. He has an extremely expressive face.

Sorry, had to wax effusive about JAckles. I'm a not a fan of Alba or her "acting", but she was tolerable here and the show is more than tolerable for me because of the JA factor.

What an appropriate icon!

She is hardly going to be winning an Emmy, but she is watchable, unlike the awful actors of OTH. And yeah, this show definitely brings Teh Hot.

And later on they do start doing a lot with Alec. "Berrisford Agenda" in Season 2 is all about Alec and his issues. There were a couple writers on the show who really loved Ackles and gave Alec a bigger role in season 2.

Wait, so, that married couple (Hayley and Nathan is it?) were 16? ... Wow, I guess I missed that in the four or five episodes I bothered to watch.

Man, I really thought they had at least graduated. Whatever.

Dark Angel... Hmmm. I have a friend who is absolutely in love with that show, but I think I only caught a few eps (It was on Friday nights. I was a teenager. Clearly I was working at that time...Ahem.). I always wanted to watch it though.

Maybe I'll add that to my "buy this one day" list of stuff to buy one day.

Yup, they are 16. I don't even want to think about the stupidity of that!

Dark Angel is very good. I really recommend renting it.

*le sigh* Michael Weatherly. Logan Cale. I love this so. Season one was brillant. Fox is just... stupid. *cries*

So anyway. :) How many episodes have you actually seen? And where did you start?

Oh yes. So good (and not just Logan, though RAWR!)

I couldn't get season 1 (though I am buying it tomorrow) thus so far I've watched the three first eps of season 1.

Apparently Fox cancelled it for Firefly. Which makes me incredibly torn, because on one hand? Firefly is sheer brilliance and love, but on the other, I so wish this show had at least one more season and tied up its plot and had more eps for me to enjoy.

Don't blame Firefly, blame Fox.

Season one is just great. I mean, season two has it's moments, but it kind of lost itself and it's mission. I'll alway wonder what could have been. There is a really, really good season three online though. They tried to continue into season four, but haven't gotten very far.

It wasn't so sure about it the first chapter in. Then I kept reading... chapter 2... and then I kept reading, and reading, and reading. (Oh, and after a few chapters they quit all of the credits crap.)

Glad to have you aboard. :) I stumbled upon this show through reruns earlier this year and have seen the full run now. I like the concept and storylines, but the dialogue can be pretty cringeworthy. But I guess that's not the point. It's still good. The season one finale is probably the best ep.

The dialogue doesn't bother me too much. Once you've read bad Bolly subtitles (sample: "I'll kill you to death"), nothing really phases you.

But yeah, so much angsty paranoid fun.
