Dark Angel: sexy angst

Since I can only take One Tree Hill in very small dozes before I get brain rot, I decided to watch one of the other things I rented: first episode of the Second Season of Dark Angel. I would have preferred to start with the first season, but they didn't have it.

Dark Angel is a scifi show about a genetically mutated perfect soldier Max (Jessica Alba) who goes rogue and takes on the Establishment. Everything that I like is there: women who kick ass, dystopia with government conspiracies, doomed and impossible love affair (Max and her OTP can't even touch), angst and lots of leather. So yeah, it has potential. Of course, in comparison with One Tree Hill, anything will appeal.

So far I am about 10 minutes in and I like it. Is it good? No idea yet. But I certainly think it's interesting (I wonder if Max and Aeryn could bond :P) and "Eyes Only" is uber hot, especially when he is stroking the computer screen with Alba's image on it.

Dude. I like Dark Angel. There are things about it that are cheesey but I don't care. Bummer that you can't watch S1 first.

Funny thing though how the only way I ever see it pop up in fannish circles is the mass of people who ship Liz from Roswell with Alec (who you probably haven't met yet but is Jensen Ackles).

That would be a really weird ship as far as I can tell because Alec is...well...bad. As in bad person. He's hot and amusing and all that, but I can't imagine Liz with him.

I never liked the main coupling of DA but I've been told they were very romantic and angsty, especially in season 1.

Alec. I LOVE Alec. I think I love Alec even more than Veronica Mars Logan. Season 2 is way better for the presence of Alec. Season 1 was enjoyable and during season 1 I quite liked Dark Angel Logan. Then he became annoying, then he and Jessica Alba started going out and he went really weird. Then Alec came along and he was so funny .... You'll love him. By the Berrisford Agenda,you'll get all the angst your dangermousie heart desires .... :)

I totally never got into Max/Logan. I just didn't get it. I liked Max/um... omg, I've forgotten his name! He was the leader of her little group when they were kids in the military facility. It's been so long since I've watched DA that my knowledge is fading.

I also *loved* Alec. Basically, it was any excuse to see them use their powers :D.

I find Alec entertaining, but I don't think I love him because? Amoral. Though for all we know we find out he had a fluffy bunny side later.

I only ever saw the 2nd season of D.A., but I did like it alot. I never got that OTP vibe, though. I always, *always* thought Max should totally be with Alec. ;)

Heeee. I am afraid that if I have to OTP for the show (one ep is a bit early), I am tending towards Max/Logan. I am soooo predictable and always go for the canon, mainstream OTP.

Heh. I am all about the story the authors are telling me. If I don't like it, I won't read/watch so no chance to come up with uncanon couples for me :)
