Mike He's character in Sunny Happiness is such a brusque superior unreasonable thing - if he was my boss, I'd strangle him - but as a character, he's entertaining as all get-out and I love his interactions and chemistry with Janine.
Secondary guy is cute but I swear, he looks twelve. Forget romancing the heroine, I don't think he looks old enough to drive!
This is so so so so good. It's funny how kdrama romcoms never work for me any more but Taiwanese ones make me so giddy.
ETA: Please tell me the arrogant, overly self-confident superior hero gets to suffer. Please. I don't care if it's over Janine, the ex' and his kid, or whatever, but something. Because I want to smack that satisfied smirk off his face.

Date: 2011-02-26 08:19 am (UTC)Second lead Li Yi Feng may look young, but when he acts he's totally got this manly aura. Trust me, his scenes with Janine from the middle eps onward just sizzle.
But of course I am Mike+Janine all the way, they are perfect for each other. She annoys the usually unflappable asshole that is Yun JIe, he riles up the normally kind and sweet girl that is Yong Yong.
As for YJ suffering, hahahaha, he starts suffering early and keeps on going. It's like the energizer bunny of emoting. Mike does a great job, and the drama balances the emotional moments with the lighthearted and sweet oh so well.
My fave TW-drama in years~

I'm also finding Mike and Janine having natural chemistry and funny together without forcefeeding it to us.

Cautiously optimistic with this one, I'm only 2 eps in. So far nth is buggy AT ALL and that's most surprising. I've lost count of how many dramas that I need to suck up 1,3,5,6 eps till it's 'good', by then my patience is all gone.

I've basically shocked myself by enjoying fluff, seeing what I normally go for. But this is so sweet and funny and low stakes and makes a nice contrast to the "any moment you can get beheaded" period cdramas I've been watching lately.

Date: 2011-02-26 09:29 am (UTC)this year, i've gone off the majority of kdramas and jdramas, and am suddenly watching more twdramas and cdramas than i ever have before. i think it's cos i can fully concentrate on the visuals rather than having to read subs as well. or maybe, it's just that the quality of their dramas has improved in recent years. i remember watching a very early drama and OMG, cringe fest!
as for the secondary male, i'm sorry, i HATE HATE HATE him. without wanting to give too many spoilers, i find his behaviour totally unacceptable and i dont give a crap how many fangirls there are. if they think that a it's ok for a guy to behave like that to his fiancee, his brother, and his brother's wife, all in the name of lurve, ambition, whatever the hell is going on in that dweeby head on his, they need a right good whack on the head! and seriously, it doesnt help that the actor looks like a kid and they've dressed him up to look like colonel sanders!
