dangermousie: (Three Kingdoms: Lu Bu)

Because this:

Be still my heart. Guy saying this in a middle of battle is definitely under the list of "things Mousie didn't know she craved until she got it."

Clearly, best way to survive being in the middle of a brutal civil war is to find the empire's top fighter and make him fall for you. I approve. Diaochan/Lu Bu ftw.

I can't even imagine the budget of this thing.

The always incredible Cao Cao. It's like he's eating up the screen.

Mousie's new crushes:

Yes, him too, despite the facial hair. He's just that badass.

Mousie's pet annoyance. Stop talking, pls.

And the cutest munchkin award goes to:

Ah, yes, the whole battle scene which made me incoherent. Ah, psycho Legolas, I have quite an unhealthy crush on you.

I need to sleep yet all I have been doing since the baby went to sleep was marathon this. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!

OK, trying. Good night!

Damn. I always wonder where they get the money to make these things. XD

This is apparently the most expensive cdrama ever made. I can see why.

This ruins me for period kdramas. Except for Legend, the scope and budget and look just do not compare.

u r an ep or 2 fr completely jumping off some red cliff and bleed your hearts out.

I'll hold your hands in advance.

U know I've never liked Peter Ho in anything, I bet u've seen many more of his works than me.

BUT, he's at last very convincingly in love with his OTP and I connect. Thank you dramagoddess up high.

Oooooh, really? I know what I am doing this evening then!!!!

Re: Peter Ho. Well, Summer Desire was the makjangest makjang that ever makjanged but after watching him in this I forgive him for it :) I do like him in period dramas, but this is my favorite role of his by far.

God CaoCao was such a monster and I was so happy that Zhuge showed him the facts of life.

It is really funny that they spray red tint on almost every GuanYu in film. In the novel he is described as red faced and having a great beard (which is widely admired) but I don't think they meant the fave being literally red :) Maybe something got lost in translation.

Zhuge showed him the facts of life.

ROFL. I know you meant in battle but I can't get the image of Zhuge teaching CaoCao about the birds and the bees :)

Yeah, he's a monster, but he's such a fascinating character.

Peter Ho???????????? How have I missed this?

From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
LOL, I thought of you while watching this. He's really awesome in TK, as this invincible warrior with a great OTP. Mookiehyun informs me there is some major deliciousness there. It's funny - I adore him in period dramas but Summer Desire/he in it was really not my thing - he should stick to armor :)

From: [identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com
hehe! I have wiki-ed the whole story as well, and yes - there is major deliciousness, with battles, murdered foster parents, and major OTP in store for Peter.

Thank you for the link - mp4's sometimes don't display subs on my TV, but this seems to happen mostly with anime. I will check when I get home.

These are hardsubbed so hopefully this will take care of sub problem.

For once I am staying unspoiled - you can imagine how much I like this to do that :)

I will not spoil you!! (But how about that spoilery vid you posted in another post :D)

It is actually hardsubbed anime that for some reason doesn't work on my TV (it shows well, but no sub). I investigated the issue and this seems to be just the issue with the TV's system. Dramas were fine before. ** fingers crossed**

Touche :) but I had no idea who they were and what was going on when I posted it and tried to forget it ever since :P

I will say that though about stuff in the vid - if you want to sleep with a woman, offing her husband and letting a sword get into her vicinity right afterwards is not the smartest course of action :)

Oh! I missed the husband-killing part. I noticed the scenes that in Cdrama terms implied HOT PASSIONATE SEX, and I noticed the bit where she tried to shield him with her body during his execution. :D I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS.

Ah, cdramas are sooo chaste. Except for Terracotta Warrior, that has a sex scene in ep 16 which was very modest by Western standards but made me faint in shock in cdrama :)

Well, I sort of inferred the guy was the one who ordered her husband killed - at least from first few eps, they are certainly on different sides. I suppose he could have been killed by someone else and he just found her and took her in or something, but I tend to go with the former.

You are evil - I need to finish some work but all I can do is going home and watch this.

I gather that Lu Bu, Peter's character (not to confuse with Liu Bei) killed people in buckets, so he most likely killed the guy.

Date: 2011-02-17 05:30 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
Yeah, most men in this one bathe in buckets of blood on regular basis :)

Oh no, I meant that Cao Cao had Lu Bu killed and then decided Diaochan was hot so why not make her concubine n. 34 or whatever.

Date: 2011-02-17 05:32 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com
Oh, I get it! Clearly from the caps you posted, Cao Cao has no comparison with Lu Bu as far as the looks go.

Date: 2011-02-17 05:36 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
Well, on the plus side, he's warlord supreme or similar so I guess he doesn't have to rely on looks alone :) I am sure there's a line of ladies out the door who would want to be with him and wouldn't care if he looked like a gnome as opposed to a OK-looking oldish guy :P

But honestly - you killed her husband, she may not be that keen on sexing you up, dude. It's not a hard concept.

Date: 2011-02-17 05:39 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com
Apparently it all was down to Liu Bei who kind of grassed on Lu Bu to Cao Cao.

From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
That's as far as I want to know though - that's all I know :) It's hilarious how I am staying away from spoilers for once in my life. It's like I've been replaced by a clone.

You are going to love this btw - I am on ep 5 and Lu Bu just showed up by himself in front a walled city which has a whole rebel army in there and challenged them. And now the rebels are freaking out and shutting the gate just because he's outside and he killed three of their generals who challenged him. LOL. It's just one dude! I don't care how good in battle he is, it boggles my mind it doesn't occur to anyone to just shoot him from the walls as opposed to ride to meet him in hand-to-hand where he's going to off them.

Date: 2011-02-17 05:46 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com
I will see how long you will last but I am going to make my best effort not to spoil from here onwards. My apologies!!!!!!!!!

I don't think the arrows at that age were precise enough to do it, it would be hard to shut a moving target even in present day times, with a sniper rifle. Plus they had that one-to-one combat culture.

Date: 2011-02-17 05:50 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
Knowing me, I probably won't last too long :)

Re: combat culture. Makes sense. Earlier they were talking how it would be a dishonor for a different enemy general to be killed by a mere archer. How very feudal. Though seeing he shot down all their banners, killed three of their generals and is now taunting them for cowards and challenging all 18 of the lords to battle at once, maybe they should make an exception. Talk about a morale problem.

No shaved heads! Peter Ho! Hot guy in armor! Good quality files! This is the C-Historical I've been waiting for.

3 Kingdoms here I come.

It is so very good. Let me know if you need help with links. I am obsessed. Beyond obsessed.

PS. Who knew Master Ou Chen was so bloodthirsty :P

I got it covered re-links but thanks for the offer. Downloading ep 11 as I type this and have watched the first four episodes. I would have watched more but I have to get up early tomorrow and it's almost midnight. I'm just waiting for the download to finish before turning in.

I loved PH as Ou Chen and I love him has a ruthless warrior. He can do no wrong. My only complaint is that we've seen too little of him so far. I know nothing about chinese history and have no clue as to how this will play out. I hope he won't croak half-way into the drama. Cao Cao is charismatic but I need my dose of OTP goodness when watching a drama (and a double dose of it when watching such a long drama full of battles, blood and old foggies with aspirations to the throne). The 18 generals are boring me stiff already. A bunch of mediocre men as Cao Cao would say.

That said, I'm impressed by the quality of the whole production. Sets look gorgeous and they didn't skimp on extras. It sure looks pretty as well as gritty.

He gets a LOT more screentime in eps 5/6 :)

I actually like watching 18 lords squabble. It entertains me. In general, I love reading historical nonfiction and it's like that only better as more emotionally engaging and with prettier people :)

Can't wait for eps 5 and 6 then. :o)

I love historical non-fiction as well (in fact I almost became a History teacher because I love history so much) but I have a bit of a hard time with some aspect of Asian history for some reason. Some things fascinate me but others leave me yawning.

Speaking of historicals...have you started The Duo yet? I was checking my subs timing for episode 3 yesterday and it seemed they were teenagers. Hopefully the "adults" appear in ep 4 or 5. I think I'll wait until episode 10 has aired before starting it. If it's a good drama, it'll be good to have that many episodes ready to be marathoned.

I just watched ep 8 and yeah - you are going to die. In a good way :)

I've always liked Peter Ho, but I was never obsessed about him before now.

Re: The Duo. The teens are supposed to be there for first 8 eps. Yikes.

Ah, you're killing me! I'm still at work (currently on a 10 min break) and I won't be home for a few hours...I'll watch 5-8 tonight and download some more eps.

8 episodes with teens for The Duo? Yikes indeed. That sucks.

Arrgh! Epic fail on the 3K watch yesterday evening so I can't spazz with you :( I was so knackered and cold when I got home that I was in bed at a ridiculously early hour. Didn't even have the courage to launch some downloads before going off to dreamland.

But I just saw your post about what happens next re-"Undaddy wants my woman" and boy....this is going to end well....Even if he "saves" her, you can be 99.99% sure he'll find out all about the plan in a little while.

From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
Hope you get some rest! Oh, and eps 8-10 are solid Peter Ho and his OTP storyline. You are going to like :)

Even if he "saves" her, you can be 99.99% sure he'll find out all about the plan in a little while.

I am actually not so sure. I mean, if this drama was "The epic love of Diaochan and Lu Bu" then yes. But it's a ginormous epic with an insanely huge cast of main characters and they already spent three solid episodes just on them (it really didn't switch to other storylines at all). So I think they just might let it go and focus on other story strands. Oddly, I won't mind because I just want them to have some normal happy times before nasty stuff will start happening again.
