Why am I watching this?
Aug. 4th, 2009 09:26 pm"I promise I will not hurt you again, Soraya. I am so sorry."
Ahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
You have got to be kidding me. "Oooops, my bad. I thought you were someone else, kidnapped you, mistreated you, and raped you. But I didn't know you were my target's cousin and beside I totally lurve you so how can you not love me back?"
Hero appears to be honestly puzzled as to why Heroine loathes him. Let's see: you kidnapped her, dragged her around on a chain, almost drowned her, almost raped her repeatedly, threatened her with gang rape, oh, and finally raped her. Among other lovely things. Geee, I wonder why she ain't keen on you? After all, you wiped her brow when she got sick after the rape and also bought her a bracelet. Such a fine specimen of manhood you are. This said, the scene where he found out he mistreated the wrong person was GOLD. In your face, moron! You are not only violent, but dumb as some really thick bricks.
ETA: Awww, you are making her breakfast now. May I gag? But not before castrating you.
ETA2: The sad thing is that the actors are both good-looking people and have decent chemistry - in some other story I would have enjoyed watching them together but with a story like that only a psycho can ship them.
ETA3: Hero offers Heroine to stab him with a knife. Go for it, girl! But the bastard offers when there is no knife around. *sigh* Maybe you can ask for a raincheck, Heroine? Seriously - apologies? So not cutting it here. It's not "oops, I stepped on your foot" here, moron!
ETA4:"You are my most shining peal." gag gag gag - not unless you rape your pearls, she ain't, swine! It's a freaking expensive bracelet, though, so she should accept it, sell it, and hire a hitman with the money.

And you say they'll get married? Hm...

Date: 2009-08-06 05:44 am (UTC)Next to the fact, that if you don't take it serious, more like an epic fail drama, than you can laugh your brains out, it's good experience if you want to become a script writer.
"You see, these are the misses you shouldn't make if you want to write a hit." - with a feeling like that.
Or, more like practice. If you got a drama to polish up, or change from one point in time, how would you go about it?
Right after the rape I had millions of ideas how to make that drama still work... even with THAT pairing.

Date: 2009-08-06 08:22 pm (UTC)First of all we need to think in the place this all happens. Far away from any city, working with naive, untutored villagers, who need a strong leader, the dangers of working with pearls, and protecting the land, and the island from everyone. They should have bought this setting stronger out, and then you don't see a rich brute, but a king of an island with it's own rules.
Living everyday life in that harsh reality makes one only see black or white. It's not an excuse, but would make a stronger impression that, at this place humans let their civilized part easy back, to protect what's important.
This way thinking: lost little brother due to bitch = revenge actually begins to make sense.
If you go back to the simple thinking of a guy, loosing family is the same as loosing the island: it was something to protect, something owned, and now it's ruined beyond repair. This way the most simple equation comes out: hurt that someone so much that it's ruined beyond repair too with him being a guy, he can only be cruel with mishandling (not the elegant womanly way at all X3) - kidnap and mistreat thing checked
Then comes the twist: after having her for a while the bitch doesn't seem like one! Now instinct and pride battle ... but due to that our hero can't really use his brain for anything else, and now we don't really talk anymore about a human, more like pre-human with the most simple rules.
little brother couldn't have her, I WILL! Though this alpha-guy thing can be done good and bad, depends on the actor. And now we are almost by the animals, the marking thing. But while he isn't an animal there a way for him to do just that and "mark her". I heard from places before where, even in the 20th century if sex happened it meant marriage. The law of the island says that sex between a man and a women means marriage, so he went and did it: to call her his. The fact that she didn't want it does mean little, since there is no law about that on the island. - rape checked
Then the truth comes out: hero shock! Due to "brain-shut down" and re-start (let's be a bit lenient here, he IS a guy!) the processing is slower, so while he can say sorry many-many times, what the girl wants doesn't get from the auditory duct to the part of the brain that can interpret.
After reboot at last our hero comes around, and sits down with the girl to talk. He takes full responsibility for his actions, but can't go to jail since both know that the people there, and the island need his protection. So he suggest something close: he'll write everything he owns to the girl, and become her 'slave' till the day he dies.
We all know that girl is kind enough to let it go and she accepts (all though the drama I thought she is a freaking angel, wanting to soothe rage and anger all the time... or maybe she was a conductor in past life).
...
For 10 years now he was the caretaker of her 'inheritance' (we just know that she wouldn't really take him as a slave!). We see scenes where they work together and the villagers don't even hint marriage anymore, they just smile how the pair behaves.
One a clear night she gives it all back to him, saying that his punishment ended, prison-time is over.
By the time you see him then with the first awkward steps to romance her, I guess most would be all "AWWW".
This is one way to handle bad script and incompetent directors. XD

Date: 2009-08-05 01:30 pm (UTC)There's no way a hero can rape a girl and then have them become the OTP. I mean. . . no. There HAS to be extenuating circumstances. Not that rape should have extenuating circumstances, but still!
I mean. . .if it is true, it just makes me very wary of Thailand, that's all!
