OK, suppose it's your wife's death anniversary. You:

a. Feel mildly sad but not too bad - it's been 15 years or so
b. Grieve and do memorial rites
c. Beat up and slap your kid, screaming how it's all his fault his Mom is dead and how you hate him and wish he died. P.S. The kid would have been 10 years old max when his Mom got hit by a speeding driver due to pushing her son out of the way of the car.

If you picked (a) or (b), congrats - you are a normal person. If you picked (c), you are hero's father in Endless Love.

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE! And apparently it's an annual household tradition?!?! I don't plan to get killed by a car saving Baby Mousie, but I assure you if that happened, and my husband behaved 1/10 as badly as this guy, I'd freaking haunt his ass and make his life a misery until he stopped. WTF! Ugh. I want this father to die already. I am sure there are other speeding drivers in Taiwan, can't one of them run the old man over?

OK, Mousie, breathe.

And now some other caps from ep 3 which are not rage-inducing.

This was perfect:

And this:

This drama is a hurt/comfort junkie's dream, btw.

The part that gets me about Jing Hao/father scene is JH's face. He just takes it, and you can see that he truly feels he deserves that kind of treatment. I think those issues help make his later actions make sense. Those scenes wouldn't work without an extreme self loathing on his part.

The OTP is so cute, they kind of remiend me of older TW dramas. They seem less fluffy and more real.

Well, if he got this sort of treatment on a routine basis since he was a kid, yeah, I can see how he has issues and believes he's worthless - he's probably internalized it all (if I were him, I'd have dumped the senile psycho into an old folks' home a long time ago and never visited).

Yeah, this drama isn't ott wacky at all, which I find very restful.

Wilbur Pan does such a great job during those scenes. So even when JH is acting like an asshat you still feel really bad for him.

They're sweet, like puppies!

He just has such a 'nice guy' face and his smile really kills me.

Endless Love was addictive at first but half way through I was so put out by Wilbur [spoiler...turning away from his love - treating her so hatefully ... end spoiler], that I could not bring myself to continue my viewing. Endless love is currently on my "need to get back to" list. I know it will end up okay but I just don't do the angst like you do. And I can't bring myself to skip episodes to get back into the good stuff. Neurotic hell - disdain for silly angst and a compulsion to watch without skipping. My only option was to take a break - walk away. But your posts are a good motivator to get back into the story. I will enjoy watching along with you - your analysis will make the angst a bit more bearable for me.

Ehh, I know what he does and it doesn't bother me. Who knows what I'd do in that situation and I don't have issues the way he does. But then I am a huge proponent for 'skip around' watching so if it bugs me I'll just skip to the smoochies. :)

new member here. =) couldn't help but sign up after reading your posts on this drama. I adore it, well maybe it's cause I adore Wilbur Pan after watching this. He's the kind of character that completely and utterly grabs my heart. I find him adorable and how can anyone think he's not cute? That smile! Yeah I ended up watching all the eps in 2 days and slept maybe 4 hours a nite. Sooo worth it =) Thanks!

His smile melts my heart utterly.

Yes, it was this same smile that pushed me through 14 brain numbing episodes of Miss No Good. OMG, that had to be Rainie's most irritating role to date. It took all my will power and faith in WilL's energy to get through the first 6 episodes. Thankfully that got much better at the end. Now I'm prayin and hoping, Will will have new material for me to obsess over ASAP =) In the meantime I'm just going to catch up on 10 years worth MV's. Can't believe the guys is 30. What a baby face. Envy..
