Endless Love ep 2 - oh how perfect!
Jan. 23rd, 2011 11:50 pmThis LJ is 80% kdramas all the time, but nothing ever beats a good twdrama for me. Nobody does OTPs the way twdramas do. And I am obsessed with the one in Endless Love, with its love story between a horribly poor guy with an awful life and a spoiled immature but kind rich girl. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Wilbur Pan and Sandrine Pinna's chemistry is insane and I am also developing crushes on both actors separately. I saw pics of Wlibur Pan and thought "oh my, he is not very attractive, is he?" But by now I am sort of obsessed about him - there is something about him - he's charismatic as hell and the way he looks at the heroine - with his heart laid bare for her to stomp on and as if he can't believe someone like her is even in his vicinity. Oh my. His character makes me cry, repeatedly. Which is insane as we are only on ep 2 and nobody has died or anything. But I basically want to cuddle him and make him soup and protect him forever. Sandrine Pinna is beautiful but she also has a very warm and charming vibe. Her character could be insufferable on paper but somehow when Sandrine is on screen I find myself liking her (even if occasionally I want to shake her). And together, so good!
She puts medicine on his face (he got bruises from underground fighting due to having to pay off for accidentally ruining her skirt, long story). She feels guilty because he realizes he got into trouble, including almost having his house burn down and his mentally-handicapped father die, due to her demands he pay back asap. The thing is, she says things hastily and without thinking and regrets them, but it's too late to call them back. Also, I kind of love that her money demand could seriously screw someone up monetarily doesn't even occur to her. She doesn't need the $250 or whatever for the skirt but it puts him in a totally untenable situation - but she's been rich all her life and only around rich people so she doesn't even think that way until her face is rubbed in it.

This drama is really obsessed with the 'red string of fate' concept. Thankfully it does it much better than the trainwreck that was Akai Ito.

This scene kills me. She drunk-calls him (after being rejected by her long-term crush) and he takes care of her drunk self and then when she wakes up, she takes out all her disappointment and hurt and anger on him and says some things that really shouldn't have been said (there are rules even in fights - there are just some things you never say).

And to make it even better, he finds out she was the one who paid for repainting of his fire-damaged house. Cue more bouts of 'extreme fighting' which he's paid to lose to earn money to pay her back. This was my favorite scene in the ep but so painful.

Of course he collapses.

Cue ep 3!
