So far I have spent more time posting about PR than I did about the five dramas (The Duo, 49 Days, The Royal Family, Thorn Tree Birds, Midas) I am excited for combined. I don't know, the trainwreck factor fascinates me, which may actually mean the production co is doing something right - whatever the reason people watch their show, as long as they watch it, right?

Anyway, here it is:

Oh, my eyes! I can feel my brain dribbling out of my ears. Yes, Changmin is wooden like a particularly fine spruce and Lee Yeon Hee matches him woodblock for woodblock (as I thought - she is an uneven actress that only works well within particular environments).

But wooden leads are the least of PR's problems. I've enjoyed some dramas with raw acting when they had a good script and a fun premise and actor chemistry - see every Mike He/Rainie Yang drama ever made. But the chemistry here is below zero, at least in the trailer. And worse, that trailer makes PR look like a really bad twdrama - it looks stupid, cutesy-unrealistic-OTT, emotionally false and, that most deadly of all things, boring! I mean, I am a major Joo Sang Wook fangirl after Giant but I spaced out entirely even during his scenes in the trailer. Plus, it looks cheap - from sets to cinematography.

Trainwreck.

Yes, I am checking out the first ep. And despite my delight in snarking, I am going to sincerely hope that PR will turn out that rare case, like Tamra the Island, where the trailers and posters and unknowns as leads all conspired me to think it was trash, and it turned out to be brilliant. If a drama is crappy, I get a small amount of amusement from snarking on it, but if it's good, I get much more amusement out of enjoying 16+ hours of goodness. Plus, I like three of the leads (LHN, LYH, JSW) and like Changmin's singing voice so wish his acting endeavors the best. But tbh, I am holding out slim hopes for this one - it has 'disaster of the year' written all over it in capital letters ten feet high.

My Thoughts:

- It looks like a cheesy Tw-Idol drama. (The ones with all the boyband members who can't act and all the models turned actresses)

- Changmin is wooden

- Changmin makes Lee Yeon Hee wooden

- With Joo Sang Wook, LYH seems to be overacting. Which makes me wonder why he'd like her - a grown woman being way too cutesy.

- It looks like Yoo Ha Na has a crush on JSW's character. (Double OTPs?) I could go with that because. . .

- Changmin looks like an awkward 12 year old, and I do not believe two beautiful, successful, women would fight over him.

Thank God, someone shares my puzzlement over Changmin being considered old enough to marry. Youtube comments on this were full of 'omg he is so hot' but he looks like a middle-school student.

Lee Yeon Hee, I loved you so in East of Eden but you are awful here. Please switch management companies.

It does look like a bad twdrama.

I feel shallow, but he's not even a 'aw, how cute' looking guy. He looks like a not that good-looking middle schooler.

LYH is in this solely because of her management company - they are producing the drama and they mange Changmin, too.

Exactly. E.g. in Dream High, Kim Su Hyun is much much too young for me, but I can certainly go 'awwww cute' and know that if I were 10yrs younger, I'd find him appealing (it helps he isn't playing someone old enough to be both married and divorced).

LYH seriously needs a better management co. Who knows how many talentless idols they are going to stick her with. I kept hoping this drama got buried but it was not to be.

Kim Su Hyun is adorable; I think he's 23. (he's three years younger than me - I thought he was younger!) Anyway, I look forward to his career, because he's got a lot of talent and will be very handsome later. But, this boy - no.

LYH is that agencies biggest female star - I believe - so, they'll be sticking her with a lot of Idols, I'm sure. :( They make her very wooden and cutesy. The agency should try sticking her in more serious things or romantic comedies - with talented, older, actors. Not cutesy Tw-like rom-coms with boybanders.

23?! No way! I thought he was 19 at most. He looks 17 or so. (He's only a year younger than No Min Woo, e.g. but it looks as if there is at least 5yr diff between them). Whoa.

I actually like Lee Yeon Hee - she was marvelous in both East of Eden and A Millionaire's First Love, so I'm hoping she does well here, but it's possible you're right and she's bad at rom-coms/cutesy stuff. I'm just really sad that one of my more favorite actresses finally gets another drama role and it's in THIS drama alongside a newbie idol actor:(:(

Yeah, I like her and hope she gets something better after this.

I want five minutes of my life back. :( Oh man. Just no, Changmin, stick to singing! And I know this is rude, but somehow I keep thinking "How ugly!" everytime Changmin appears. I am currently watching Kimcheed Radish Cubes (Patk Shin Hye!) so I don't think I'm gonna check this out for JSW anytime soon.

I've enjoyed some dramas with raw acting when they had a good script and a fun premise and actor chemistry - see every Mike He/Rainie Yang drama ever made.
Totally agree. :D
