Some manga chicken soup
Jan. 18th, 2011 11:09 amI am pretty sick - some really nasty stomach bug is making me miserable to no end. So I ensconced myself in bed with some ginger ale and my favorite comfort reading for sick days - Mayu Shinjo's delicious, trashy Sensual Phrase. It always cheers me right up.
I am not sure what it is about it that I like so much about this x-rated, melodramatic emofest - maybe the belief that anything can be cured by good sex. Hero acquiring drug addiction courtesy of evil half-brother? Situation can be fixed through sex. Crazy fangirls acctacking with knives? Situation can be fixed through sex. Writer's block? Situation can be fixed through sex. Nasty photographer stalking heroine and trying to break up heroine and hero? Situation can be fixed through sex. Double suicide attempt? Situation can be fixed through sex. Nasty childhood trauma? Situation can be cured through...you guessed it...sex. I am not sure about the scientific accuracy of that prescription but points for consistency. According to SP, we can even achieve world peace if we have enough sex. :P About the only thing that can't be fixed through sex is rape, which is shocking enough considering it's the same woman who wrote 'he rapes me means he loves me' manga that is Haou Airen. Maybe it's because in SP it's not the hunky hero who is doing it?
Anyway, I dug out my SP volumes* and plan to use them to make me forget being sick. Mayu Shinjo says nothing about stomach bugs being cured by (reading about) sex, but who knows - it's worth a try. If it can heal knife wounds and abuse trauma, a bit of pukey badness ought to be a piece of cake.
*Mr Mousie points out I'll have to hide them once Baby Mousie gets older because getting your sex ed through Mayu Shinjo is a bad idea, so I might as well enjoy them now.

Date: 2011-01-18 06:36 pm (UTC)And you're right. SP may be the best for it. Have you seen the anime with it? The graphic is terrible, but the voice of Sakuya~ *.* really dreamy!
When seeing the band who sang all songs of Lucifer I saw the vocal, got quite surprised that a guy this small can sound like that.

I think it's only around the 22th episode that he meets with Aine. Even after no big erotic scene, which is a bit of a turn down, but still think that the first half of the anime is worth it. :)
