My Princess - my delight
Jan. 14th, 2011 08:58 amI was rather worried about the withdrawal I was going to go into when the fantabulous Secret Garden was going to end this week (Gloria ends only two weeks after) but I have been saved! By the funny, fast-paced, adorable My Princess.

A romcom about a pennypinching student who discovers she's a long lost princess of Korea, it's everything I want in a drama - funny, oddball, shippy. I enjoyed the first episode but I did not get rabid until the second. The reason? MP's putative OTP - Lee Seul played by Kim Tae Hee and Haeyoung, a diplomat who found her, played by Song Seung Heon.

There are no words for how much I adore this OTP already, after having watched only two eps. Their chemistry sparkles almost as much as their interactions (it's flirty and delicious, not 'intense rip-your-clothes-off' one of Secret Garden but it fits here) - I love their banter and back-and-forth and the fact that they are alredy comfortable with each other and somehow friends - giving love advice and stuffing popcorn and just being wackjobs. Most drama OTPs fall into either 'worship at your feet' or 'bicker and hate until love' and it's nice to see something like this - friendship with undertones.
Plus, did I mention this drama is hilarious?

Date: 2011-01-16 12:30 am (UTC)I adore the easy banter between the lead couple. Somehow it feels so refreshing! No "love/obsession at first sight" or "hating until loving" or even "first love separated in childhood". YAY!
I keep thinking that I might actually completely believe that these two fell in love later on (usually I have to suspend my disbelief a bit). There's just so much companionship, so much friendliness, so much cuteness!
I love how it's funny without being ridiculous or stretching the jokes for too long. And they're giving the hateful secondary bitch a lot less screentime!
Keep posting about it!

Date: 2011-01-16 06:15 pm (UTC)Like you said, I like how they already so comfortable with each other, although in the beginning, it was more on her part than his. In episode 1, when they were in the mall garage, when she was like thisclose to his face, giving him dating advice, I was like "girl, you've only known him for, what, like a few hours, and you're already speaking that close to him?" But that's part of her charm, right? Her un-coyness when she's with Hae Young.
Not entirely sure why, but one of my favorite moments between them is the part where she goes something like, "what an impatient man. you can't even wait 3 minutes! guess you'll never get to eat a cup of ramen." It's so like her to call him out on little but telling stuff like that, which I love.
