I felt in the mood for a selective rewatch of Baker King (btw, now that 2010 is over, is BK officially the highest rated drama of the year?) and heh - I totally forgot how slashtastic this thing is!

I mean it would fit every kdrama trope - they are fake!siblings (Takgu is father's son and Ma Jun is mother's son though Takgu never learns it and while I know Ma Jun does, I can't remember when) and Takgu is the plucky poor one with the heart of gold who melts the dysfunctional rich boy. Heh. If Takgu was a girl we'd have every melokdrama ever made :)

Anyway, ep 16 is the motherlode of slashiness

Scene 1:



Scene 2:





Scene 3: Takgu is off to protect Ma Jun and tells him to stay in hiding no matter what gangsters (who only want Takgu) do to him, Takgu. OTP!









Not slash-related but I think this scene, where Ma Jun instinctively starts to come to Takgu's rescue despite his busted ankle and being outnumbered, but then stops is a good example why I like Ma Jun the best as a character, even if not as a person - he wants to help him and his first impulse to do so however suicidal it would be but then he doesn't because the odds sink in and he's terrified and so he freezes there even as he hates himself for that freeze. Takgu is a hero by any definition and someone I'd prefer as a son/brother/husband, no doubt, but Ma Jun is just so human - I have a feeling I'd be more likely to act as Ma Jun in such a situation however I wish I would act like Takgu. (Mr Mousie is Takgu, however, which both makes me proud and terrifies me - when I think of him tangling with a bunch of skinheads to protect a guy (of a minority group) a few years ago, my blood runs cold. Anyway, personal digression is personal).

basically Daddy Gu wants a son to inherit his baking business but Mama Gu only gives birth to girls. So when she's in the hospital with second girl, Daddy Gu (a real charmer) knocks up the maid - who does have a son but runs away while pregnant due to wife. Meanwhile wife cheats on husband with secretary and has a son too. Later, when maid's son is 7 or so, he gets taken into Gu household, where wife and 3 kids don't care for him. His mom is kidnapped (by people working for Mama Gu) and he runs away looking for her. Oh, and there is Yu Kyung, an abused little girl who's Maid's son's first love.
