My personal laptop decided to do its best to start on its journey to the Great Computer Shop in the Sky.

I believe it can be fixed (unlike my previous laptop which died in a manner which left it useful only for cracking walnuts) but that will take a bit.

It's not a particular disaster because we had three working laptops in the house thus there are still two left (we also may be getting a replacement from the manufacturer of the dead-dead-dead previous laptop - there was a recall on that mess).

However, all my dramas were on the trying-its-hardest-to-be-diseased laptop. I can redownload (I may request help if I can't track down some of the stuff - i.e. the Outsiders I/II) but it will take a bit. Plus, I am still getting used to this laptop which is different brand and is therefore rather different.

So, posting may be slow for a while. Though seeing I posted while in labor, probably not.

Currently, am dling latest Daemul, SKKS and Joseon X-Files eps. But my Swallow the Sun, Chuno, Gloria, Giant, Baker King, Stairway to Heaven, Coffee House, The Outsiders, Shanghai Bund etc dramas are all gone and I will have to rdl. Argh. It's going to take WEEKS.

Do you use a download manager? If you don't I'd totally recommend JDownloader because it makes downloading from MU super fast. I downloaded all the eps of Coffee House (around 12 gb I think) in a day. And if you have a paid account it'll probably be faster since JDownloader won't do the wait thing and hit limits either.

Firefox does that for me, actually, sort of, but jdownloader sounds even better. I am going to go get it.

It's pretty awesome. Lemme know if you need any help with it :)

No not the dramas!

Would an external harddrive be helpful for storing all of your dramas? I'm looking into getting one myself.

I had an external harddrive. It died. Don't ask :)

Sorry about your computer.

I'm sorry to hear that, Mousie.

Maybe your laptop is secretly in love with Jang Geun Soek and didn't take kindly to you making fun of him wanting to look like a woman all the time. :-P

Or it was just scared you were going to download an episode of MSOAN.

My computer died a few months ago, it's a pain. *holds hands in commiseration*

ROFL. I guess I have to be careful about slagging JGS and his hair of doom.

I was going to suggest an external, too. And maybe a backup of the external? ;) lol

Ouch! I feel for you.

I always live in permanent fear that one of my machines is going to die on me and I loose all my ongoing dramas. Hence I have them saved in several places, LOL! I also have everything I've ever watched and liked burned on DVDs. Copies can be made. Just saying. :)

JDownloader is very handy. I use it for everything else but MU as I decided early on to invest in a premium MU account. Makes life so much easier.

Yeah, I have a permium MU account as well. So much more convenient.

Ow ow ow...

Reminds me of when my external HD crashed and I lost all 81 eps. of Jumong, plus another 50+ ep. period drama. I never could work up the energy to redownload again.

But with patience and time, I'm sure you'll be able to rebuild your collection. Even better yet if they can retrieve some from your old laptop.

::crosses fingers and toes for Mousie::

Yeah, I am pretty sure there is some stuff I am just not going to dl again. But all my lovely dramas in progress. *weeps*

I've been there *sob*. Now I have two external harddrives--one is a backup of the other.

Good luck on rebuilding your collection!!! *hug*

dm, I thought you'd finished StS. How far did you get to before you went on hiatus?

I did, but (a) I wanted to keep the files and (b) I didn't finish recaps :)

i might have the Outsiders I (but not II) .. but the files were downloaded many, many years ago. That means tiny RMVB files. Interested? I'm a miserably slow uploader cause we have terrible connection speed here in Malaysia but since the files are small, it'll take less than a week.

Thank you for the kind offer. I am going to see if I can salvage it elsewhere but if I can't, I will definitely rely on your kindness.

:) no big... will go looking for the DVD tonight. I have it filed somewhere in the depths of my T-Drama folder. Along with At Dolphin Bay, which I haven't watched. Doesn't seem likely I ever will, at this point. (actually I didn't watch much of the Outsiders either)
