Ugh!!!! I started Phoenix, am about half an ep in, and I think I may have to give up because I really hate the heroine.

Not even hate. Loathe with every fiber of my being. Literally, every time she is on screen my bp rises and I want to strangle her. Ugh. She is so spoiled, idiotic, selfish, useless, mean, nasty, just...DIEEEEEE.

Anyway, I think this drama is not for me, but I will at least try to last the entire ep.

ETA: Nope, could not last an ep. Heroine told Hero she will prove he is into her (he did not want to date her) by going off to the rail of a ship and threatening to jump off after telling him she can't swim If hestops her, means he likes her. WTF???? Why are you so bugfuck insane? If he stops you, it just means he isn't a sociopath and doesn't want to see random people die in front of him. Ugh, worst drama I've seen in a LONG time. Also, before this, I didn't know it was possible for costars to have negative chemistry but there it is...

Decided to try Lovers in Paris and heroine of that one is dippy and useless and completely incompetent. I think this is supposed to be 'quirky' and 'cute' but she comes as developmentally retarded and without any living-related skills. I only lasted an ep with that too.

I feel like I lost 15 IQ points just watching half an ep each of these two dramas. Ugh.

I also couldn't stand "Lovers in Paris".

I'm very surprised that you didn't fall in love with My Girlfriend is a Gimiho. I urge you to keep watching it. SERIOUSLY! I absolutely loooooved that drama, and it takes a lot to win my love. XD

Ehhhh, I got through 4 eps, which is what I usually give for a drama to grab me and I kept getting more and more bored. LSG's character was so wimpy and immature (yes, I am sure he grew out of it by the end but I don't want to sit through eps of his immaturity first). And neither of them felt like relatable people. Sorry. :)

Actually, you don't have to wait until the end to see him grow. By the middle he was already being pretty awesome, MUCH better than any alpha kdrama male! I'm serious, you'll love it. A bigger obsession than The Myth!

But I like my alpha kdrama males. Seriously, MGIAG is very much not for me.

A bigger obsession than The Myth!

Unless Dae Woong is going to be tortured in prison trying to protect strangers from death, I doubt it :P

I almost dropped LiP after the first ep but plowed through and it got pretty charming:) Park Shin Yang=hot hot hot later. But I admit to this day I haven't finished it, though I've seen about three-fourths.

I admit PSY is one of the few kdrama actors I don't find hot, but you never know. hMMM.

Phoenix was written by Lee Yoo Jin, who went on to write the very very cheese-tastic, Bad Love with Kwon Sang Woo and Lee Yo Won. 'Nuff said.

That explains so MUCH. But at least BL was so-bad-it's-good. This is just bad in a boring fashion.

I HATED/LOATHED/DESPISED Kim Eun Jung until the depths of hell after her "performance" in LIP. It tooks years, of therapy, and after watching her career-recharge performance in I Am Legend, to disassociate her with one of my most hated heroines to ever grace the screen.

Stabbity-stab-stab is how I felt anytime she came on screen. Pretty much hated everyone single human being in LiP except for Park Shin Yang - finished that dang drama for him. He owes me one.

Heh. I liked her in Lovers (I know you don't care for that drama but I like it).

Here, it's not KJE's acting that's bugging me, it's her character. I don't care if they got Go Hyun Jung or Ha Ji Won playing this character, or even resurrected Katherine Hepburn from the grave from it - it would still be an awful character nothing could rescue.

While I realize I am far, far pickier about my modern kdramas than most kdrama fans, I still want the 15 minutes of my life that I spent with Lovers in Paris back.

Haven't tried Phoenix yet.

Don't bother with Phoenix, honest. I am not picky about kdramas at all and it still made me drop out after barely half-an-hour in.

I couldn't stand the heroine of Lovers in Paris either. She only gets more clueless and useless in the following episodes as well. I gave up several eps in which given my ability to watch total crap should tell you something...

LOL Lovers in Paris was my family's first ever Korean drama back in 2005. Prior to that we were deathly afraid of Korean dramas (most of those we had seen snippets of seemed to be of the makjang variety and you can only take so much pointless screaming and bad fashion) and it just so happened to be on at the 7pm dinner slot, so we were suitably bored enough to sit through it and could distract ourselves with food when it got bad (actually, I remember the secondary female character as memorably stab-worthy. Even though I can't remember the plot of the show at all I still remember her facial expressions and wanting to stab her).

I THINK it gets pretty watchable - as far as I can remember - though I THINK the ending was kinda confusing/messed up. I remember the family wondering if we had missed something/episodes prior to it?

Then again, it has Lee Dong Gun! Playing drums (the things I remember =.=)! PSY's a good actor, but he's...not that much to look at (and I am shallow) XD

I don't / did not get the MAD love that LiP got here - it was such a big hit that a remade was done. Remake flopped and IMO, both sucked big time.

I didn't like Phoenix (her character goes through a transformation in later episodes - I just don't care for the actress (RIP))

But I love Lovers in Paris. She was really funny and clumsy and he is totally cold hearted and capable. I even didn't hate the ending (certainly would have preferred a different one but I didn't hate it)

Maybe I'll retry LiP then.
