Finally watched the deleted scenes of BSG Season 1. So good. I especially loved a further look into the dysfunction of the Tighs (because there is love there, twisted as it is. Plus, I am amused that it's Tigh who gets sex scenes), all the Apollo-Starbuck frienship scenes (because it's lovely), Billy standing up to Roslin (I was cheering) and the fact that Roslin tried to suborn Apollo using idealism and logic versus Starbuck's feeling and personalism.

Re: Prison Break. It's a good show, but not my thing. I can't watch something where I am in dread of something either painful or humiliating happening to the lead every second. It's not fun.

Re: Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. 250+ pages in and I am still bored. There isn't a character who I care for. Stephen Black is nice but I am not interested and that goes double for the rest. This officially wins "most overrated book ever" award.

Darn, for me that's most of the fun. :)

But I agree that the violence of it is not everybody's taste.

Another thing about PB is that it doesn't really have a lot of humor. At least not in the in your face snarky kind of way like the Whendon shows or Veronica Mars do.

I love humor on my shows. But it's the violence that gets me. Basically, PM is good, just not my speed.

Yeah, Prison Break is not going to be everyone's cup of tea since it's so intense and humorless most of the time, but it's a great edge of your seat show for people who like stuff like that. And poor Michael. He brings out the "I really need to protect that guy" in me.

He really seems to be doing a good job on his own, though :)

For being an engineer who was the "good kid", you have a point. He's holding his own better than any real person would.

What PB actually makes me wonder about, if the show is successful and it's renewed, where is it going to go. Because it's more of a miniseries concept that a show's. They are on a timeline to break out and then they either do or don't. And then what?

Stephen Black was only marginally interesting for me. The book took off when Strange showed up and began to wrangle with Norrell and links between the various storylines started to come together.

But it has a distinctly "To be continued" ending so we might end up waiting forever for the rest of the story. . . .

I've kinda lost interest in JS&MrN. I think this book needed a ruthless editor badly. It's a self-indulgent, going nowhere ramble for 200+ pages so far, and that's simply ridiculous. Of course, since it was a bestseller, I am probably in the minority. Of course, Eragon was also a bestseller, and that one is tritely unreadable...

Of course, part of the charm of JS&MrN is its very digressions (and footnotes -- I adore footnotes). But it's an acquired taste, I recognize.

And I thought Eragon looked like tripe, as well, so I didn't keep trying to read it after chapter two.

In other words, I understand how you feel. If you don't much like the longer novel, you still might enjoy her short story in the same universe, freely available online: The Duke of Wellington Misplaces his Horse.

I've been watching the Prison Break marathon too--off and on today. I'm still undecided about it. It *is* exciting in an adrenaline pumping way, and I may continue watching it. But I don't think it is something I'll find myself squeeing madly over and taping every episode to watch multiple times and hunting for fanfic and wanting to write fanfic and dying to collect good icons and melting over screencaps...well, you get it :-)

I like the women characters, both the doc and lawyer, but none of the guys do much for me. I'm so shallow.

I'm kinda liking Veronica's lawyer sidekick. I'm hoping they develop into a "Mulder/Scully - fighting the conspiracy together" type of pairing.

I keep wondering what's with the sudden popularity of the name Veronica :)

From: [identity profile] thelana.livejournal.com
Not to mention, when I'll talk about V/L chances are that I'll be meaning Veronica/Link rather than Veronica/Logan :D

Unfortunately, just being named Veronica doesn't magically make her just as smart.

From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
Nor as cute. Though she is really zealous. If someone threatened to shoot me if I continued to represent somebody, I'd drop the case. :P

Heee, now I have this crack AU floating in my head: Logan gets sent to prison and this Veronica represents him. Not.

From: [identity profile] thelana.livejournal.com
Logan would be as good as dead :)

It's actually part of canon that Veronica is technically a real estate lawyer with little knownledge of crimal law (that's why she teamed up with Nick the Project Justice lawyer).

From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
So why is she defending Lincoln again? And why doesn't he get a better equipped lawyer?

Logan would be as good as dead :)

Most likely he'll become someone's prison wife instead. Though considering the boy has suicidal tendencies already, you are probably right. He'll probably use his smart mouth to orchestrate being beaten to death.

So why is she defending Lincoln again?

They used to have sex? Nobody else is crazy/stupid enough to do the job?

Maybe there was something in the water wherever Michael, Linc and Veronica grew up together :)

(not to mention that there is a frikking tape of Lincoln shooting the guy, not to mention blood evidence in his appartment and his finger prints on the murder weapon. Linc = not the sharpest tool in the shed)

Actually one of the spoilers mentiones Veronica going back to the prison to meet Michael and Linc and one of the profiler/assassin types form the conspiracy watches her. They analyze her bodylanguage and note that Veronica twisted her ankle and just hasn't realized it yet. I don't know why, but something just struck me as fundamentally sad about this little tibit. *hugs Veronica*

He'll probably use his smart mouth to orchestrate being beaten to death.

Have you ever seen Oz? Because now I picture him as a mini version of Ryan O'Riley.

How can you not realize you've twisted your ankle? It hurts like hell. *Bizarre*

Well, Lincoln *is* hot. Still, I'd get a safer client. Also, I love my family dearly, but Michael's plan? That's crazily devoted. He's probably been hanging with Simon from Firefly for too long.

Have you ever seen Oz? Because now I picture him as a mini version of Ryan O'Riley

No, I knew it was hideously violent.

Logan would last about 2 minutes in jail. Because he'd either get them to kill him or kill himself. Which is why I hope he never gets permanently fingered for Felix's murder. Of course, I think his Daddy would do just fine.

Still, I'd get a safer client.

Now personally, the whole "he went ahead and had a child with another woman" thing is what would throw me off.

But you know, highschool sweethearts and everything... (actually I think they've been spinning it a bit that Veronica also feels rather protective of Michael) I think one of the scenes that amused me the most was Linc and Veronica's first meeting in prison where she's all "Come on, I know you did it. Stop messing with Michael's head.". I know that that makes me a bad shipper, but nothing like characters who will assume the worst about you. :D

He's probably been hanging with Simon from Firefly for too long.

Too true :) But what can I say? I just have a certain fondness for insanity in a character. *slurps crazy little Michael*

True. Thank God they are killing her off. (even though I actually enjoyed her bitch scenes; that mini scene where LJ mouths off to the stepfather and gets slapped around was really well done, to my mind*)

I just think that's awfully sainty of Veronica to go and hide Lincoln's son from the conspiracy after the mom gets killed.

*dumb question, is it "to my mind" or "in my mind" if it's supposed to mean "in my opinion". I can never tell which.

Date: 2005-10-24 05:05 pm (UTC)

I have no idea which one is correct.

So, bitchy!mom buys it? Yay. Veronica is totally saintly. So I hope when Lincoln gets out, he will reward her...ahem..appropriately.

Naw, I was just thinking Michael and Lincoln for this one.

Nick and Lincoln can do their duty on a separate occasion.

But boy, Lincoln is going to be a very busy boy if he has to errr *reward* everybody who has helped him so far ;p

The cool thing is, the two guys actually look as if they could be brothers. That tattoo is a huge turn-off though.

Btw, I noticed Veronica is unpopular in the fandom. Why? From what I've seen, she seemed OK enough.

Oh, and is there a new ep tonight? And what time/channel. Might check it out...

My theories:

1) Actress dislike
2) The prison storyline is just more interesting and edgy to most people. Veronica's storyline takes away from whatever new drama is facing Michael. Plus the whole conspiracy thing is kind of convoluted and out there, so many people find it quite dry.
3) They don't always write Veronica as particularly smart. Like there is one episode where she finally tracks down a key witness. Key witness is just about to tell her something Really.Important. (dunudundun) but then asks if she can go outside for a smoke. Veronica says sure and key witness gets abducted and murdered by the conspiracy.

Me, I like her well enough. Then again, I just looove love interest who make themselves useful. Not to mention that I kind of prefer established relationships (like Linc/Veronica) to "taking every step of the flirting ladder" ships (like Michael/Sara). This sneaking around each other bores me. I'd rather have them move straight to the love part :)

Thanks for the time info!

Michael/Sara makes no sense to me, because if I were her, I don't care how cute or nice the guy is. He is in prison for a violent crime. Which automatically disqualifies him as a spit-exchange partner. It's one thing if you were in love with him before he landed in jail, but if you meet him there? Nope, not so much with the love potential.

But then, I wouldn't work in a prison hospital either...
