Only in a kdrama...he's been in love with her since she was 10??????????!!!!!! I have no idea how old she is now but she's got to be at least 20. Awwwww. I was a bit bored by Korean Draco in the last couple of eps (smart, ruthless, bad, and unhappy at being thwarted isn't that exciting) but I am back to madly interested. The only time he is human, with vulnerabilities, is around Chosun. Hmmm. You know, I don't think Chosun would have ever fallen for him - he's pretty arrogant and she likes Yoon Hee, but I think the reason she treats him with such disdain (IMO unearned - he is doing his best to woo her even she is a commodity for sale who theoretically does not need to be wooed) and lashes out is because of his father. She can't retaliate against the Minister of War who treats her so horribly, so she takes it out on his son. Somewhere, in an alternate universe, there is a drama about a gorgeous courtesan who acts as an assassin for an evil minister who threatens her family to do his dirty business and to force her into sex, and her messed-up and sexy relationship with the minister's dark, complicated son who is madly in love with her. Somewhere in an alternate universe, I am watching the hell out of this show. (blacked out for one small spoiler for ep 14).

re: Blacked-out bits - Isn't that basically Conspiracy in the Court? Only with guns and less courtesans. :P

I am the only person in the world who didn't like CitC - too much politics and no hot guys, but mainly because the heroine was a poisoner. Somehow it bothered me way more than if she stabbed her victims to death.

I somehow have this huge weakness for courtesan characters in historicals: Jeong-hyang in Painter and now Chosun in SKK. (Not to mention Hwang Jin-yi, but there was a little too much melodrama in that one.)

Lol, I think I know how to kill you now. :PPP

I will know to run if I see a person dressed as a period Korean courtesan coming down the street :P

I'm quite sad for Korean Draco :(
But it's so nice how different he is when around Chosun. He only gives HER this soft smile which screams "I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I'M FUCKING CRAZY ABOUT YOU"
I like the fact that Chosun seems to be his only but great weakness...I wonder if he will do something really important for her before the end.

Oh yes. I keep wondering if he'll ever find out that his father uses Chosun. Bcause that would be pretty interesting, seeing him find out that his father is blackmailing the woman he loves into sex.

I wonder if he will do something really important for her before the end.

I am sure, because there has to be a reason they have this storyline there. I mean, much as I enjoy watching In Soo pine, they wouldn't be doing this if this didn't tie into the main story somehow. I bet it will have some connection with Robin Hood.

I can't say I have quite the affection for Korean Draco you do but I would also watch the show you described. =D Maybe I'll get more of the appeal once I've caught up with the episodes (still back on episode 9).

By the way, where are you watching this? Biggest reason I'm not up to date is now that viikii's taken the eps down I have nowhere to see it with subs (and I know zero Korean so raws aren't an option).

soompi has softsubs for eps 1-12 (check 1st page of SKKS thread) and working on subbing the future eps too ^^
.
Btw, hello, 1st time commenting here. I just found this 2 days ago and already backtracked all skks related posts xD
.
FINALLY, I found a fellow SJ shipper! Yay! X))

I love SJ so much. He is my favorite character. I do not get how people do not utterly love him. I mean, MJS is hot, but come on :)

I totally dig his kind of character, fiction or not ;)
I have this discussion with my friend, if skks is the usual drama, MJS will be the main lead while SJ will be that rich-nerd who sometimes helps the main characters but basically left in the dark. However, in the awesomeness of skks-verse, the typical 2nd/background character becomes the lead and gets the girl >DD
Nyah, I feel bad calling him a typical 2nd character, since he works SO good as a main lead <3 <3

Yes, that's why I like him too. Normally in a drama he'd never get the girl but he is so my rl type.

hahaha I am so shipping Sun Joon and Yoon Hee too, and as much as I love dark and dysfunctional pairings (RE Ma Jun and Yu Kyung in Baker King), I LOVE this functional and honest couple. They are so awesome together and clearly they are helping one another grow into even more amazing people. Sun Joon and Yoon Hee are my favorite couple of all kdramas!

I admit that I'm madly in love with Jae Shin, and I suspect it has to be because he won't get his girl. We know the heartbreak that is in store for him, so the fandom is coddling him to our collective bosoms. It's the protective nuna instinct as well as realizing that he is so hot that he's basically the sex. Of the four that is. =) Like, Jae Shin is straight up the rebel of the school and that idealistic streak and committment is sexy!

In real life, I think Micky Yoo Chun is the sexiest of all the male actors. I'm not the biggest stan of DBSK/TVXQ, but he ALWAYS caught my eye on variety programs and one off dramas, etc. He just has charisma. But really, Yoo Ah In and Song Joong Ki are super close competition.

All this is really a long way of saying I waffle between who I desire for myself, but I am firmly in the Sun Joon-Yoon Hee ship for SKK's world. =)

SJ and YH are so lovely together, proving good doesn't have to be boring. I just love their caring and their struggles.

I've never seen a second of DBSK but as of now I am developing a crush on Yoochun because of Sun Joon :)

Ok, lets remedy that. ;P Here, have some YooChun shaking his booty with his J.Y.J mates in a recent showcase... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWDojMQx4ZA

LOL. Not looking - it's my policy to never check out any kpop (or jpop etc) so when I watch one of these guys/gals, I won't have traumatic flashbacks to spandex.

hi, dangermousie. thank you for your entries -- i enjoy reading your SKKS posts as i am a junkie for this drama. can't function well since it started airing! monday and tuesday won't be the same once the drama ends.

i'm not into boybands (grew up with metallica and pearl jam) but i was surprised how yoochun's group sounded live. check out this vid. no spandex, i swear! :))

In addition to the soompi links below, soompi gave permission for streaming sites to use their subs. kimchidramas uses them.

I honestly cannot tell what direction they're taking In Soo. If he's off to be woobified or if he gets eviler. I am so sad for him though because I think he does love her (or think he does) and shows it in the only way he knows how to show it and it doesn't move her in the least. Ah, the fate of the emotionally stunted. :(

I think he will get eviler but finally will do something to help our heroes (most likely unintentionally) due to his involvement with Chosun and her involvement with the whole Red Messenger thing.

Chosun must be the most beautiful girl in the show followed by Hyo Eun (this girl has the most pretty eyes of the drama) and Yoon Hee.

This scene SLAYED me. I lost it when we found out that In Soo met her as a child and has been in love with her for years. Unrequited love is my crack. It's really heartbreaking too because she most definitely arrived to the Ha household as a slave child and was later sold off into the giseng life. In Soo's love stems from an innocent place. It's only after years of living in the adult world of politics and expectations, class differences and the like that he's gotten really possessive over her. I am inclined to believe that Cho Sun probably became the hard and unrelenting woman to In Soo that she is precisely because she was trapped into becoming a giseng.

It made me think of Damo, only if the heroine of that instead arrived in a horrible house and the young master of the house grew all twisted.

I really do think that they are going to use the feelings In Soo has for Chosun to somehow resolve the Red Messenger issue. It's pretty clear In Soo would never go against either his politics or his father unless Chosun is involved. He may be a bad guy, but his feeling for her trumps everything - see the way he shot badly at the archery competition or when he tried to whack Yoon Hee in public which was not just uncharacteristic of him, it was uncharacteristcally stupid. He just loses it when Chosun is involved (if he ever finds out how his father has been using her, Minister of War better get used to sleeping with his door locked and a dagger under his pillow).

I have such a weakness for dysfunctional bad guys in love :)

i've always been interested in In Soo
my penchant for evil guys aside, i just like him coz he's so...childish? kinda cute in a way XD (and he's not exactly evil evil...)

i haven't been watching this drama for a few weeks now coz subs are slow, so I've only been reading spoilers...but i do hope that they do more exploring with his character.
i was so glad finding out that his obsession with chosun actually has something substantial backing it up...childhood love...(of course, i wouldn't have minded even if that wasn't the case...the fact that he's so obsessed with her is bloody hot on its own ^^)
