Daemul Daemul Daemul!

It has happened! After disappointments of Fugitive and Flames of Ambition, I found a fall drama I can love. Scratch that. If the first ep, which I watched raw (I won't likely do it with further eps, it's a very dialogue-heavy drama) is any indication, it's not just love, it's pure helpless adoration.
Oh drama, I am yours. This is perfect - funny and quick-paced and with amazing chemistry between Go Hyun Jung (playing first female President of Korea, and being every inch the smart and strong-willed ruler - you can buy she has the power and brains to be the President) and Kwon Sang Woo (playing a host. KSW is a polarizing guy - people love him or hate him. I am in the love camp myself, but his last couple of drama choices have been a waste of his abilities. I am glad to see him back to form here - ridiculously funny (I may be a minority but I prefer him in funny roles and moments and a bit dorky and hella sexy).
More more more, give me more!
You go, President. Mishil finally got her wish :P

Mmmm. Cha In Pyo.

KSW as a host with an...interesting...hat.

Much less glamorous surroundings (I think it went into flashback), and his father interrupts to drag him off. LOLOL. Also, check out the jacket.

Definitely a flashback, this is when she was still a newsanchor. But was still tough and awesome grabbing would-be molesters on the bus and dragging them to the cops (not sure how KSW ended there too - no subs :))

By the BALLS. I couldn't believe they'd play it like that with none other than KSW, but LOLOLOL.

He went there as a witness. The molester is actually the son of a local politician (represents the district in the national assembly), which is how Do-Ya's father suffered so much humiliation later on to bail him out. On the upside, much of ep. 1 is revisited in ep. 2 and you're going to love it.
It is nothing like I expected but it's so wonderful nontheless.
Wasn't it? I pray to the k-drama gods they can sustain this.

I saw that and went "am I seeing what I am seeing?"
Thanks for the explanation about the police station.
I do wonder what they are going to do for 26 eps. I mean, if the leads want to get together, it wouldn't be too problematic - unlike in the manga he is not a current gigolo, whatever he used to do when younger, but a prosecutor, which is pretty prestigious. I suppose it could be about GHJ fighting political challenges?

Date: 2010-10-08 12:43 am (UTC)I think the challenges will come from her soon-to-be-burgeoning political career and Cha In-Pyo's character, who seems to emerge as her kingmaker in next week's eps, if the preview's any indication. Cha's character, Kang Tae-San, is a former prosecutor himself, and the 2nd ep. shows he's trying to use Do-Ya for his own political agenda. They're also laying out the groundwork for whatever's bound to happen with Lee Soo-Kyung's character and these two men, and I suppose it'll have repercussions on Do-Ya and Hye-Rim as well.
I think I may end up having quite a crush on HDY.
Given how skeptical and unenthusiastic I was about the character change, I should be ashamed at how much I'm enjoying KSW as a prosecutor, but I don't care, it feels great to crush on a character/actor again.

Date: 2010-10-08 01:02 am (UTC)Oh yes, I was soooo disappointed with the change from the manga story but I had to eat every single word (though I still think the original manga would have made a great dark drama).

Poor MBC, any of its dramas are just DOOMED to die an inglorious death in that slot.
Now you've got me curious about Daemul, Dangermousie.
And Runaways ratings are dropping like a brick, about 2-3% per episode! That's insane.
