A viikii question
Aug. 1st, 2010 12:33 amI am just curious how many of you still watch kdramas on viikii? The reason I am curious is because I realized that since their licensing spree, I completely stopped watching kdramas there. I still watch twdramas or mainland ones but I never bother with kdramas there. For older dramas, I can get them elsewhere, and for current ones (which is the one thing I was using viikii for) the licensings restrictions made viikii useless. Half of them are 'license pending' so you can't watch them but, more importantly, there is little point starting even seemingly open ones because you never know if they will go into restriction in the middle and leave you frustrated. What's the point? And the restriction periods are either indefinite or months-long - I can get faster subs elsewhere and they won't be streaming either.
I went to my patterns pre-viikii actually - waiting for proper sub-groups and usually only starting an airing drama when there is a large amount of eps already out.
But what's your experience?
I don't like coming empty-handed, so have a couple of new Athena pics:

So very Bondish.
I know I owe replies - I promise to get back.

I'll say this about Viikii. When I first started watching current dramas it was my 1st choice for subs. It saved me hours of craziness when I was obsessed with Smile, You.
But like you, with all the licensing issues last year, I started to look elsewhere. Mostly, I'd just watch raws and check on azntv when the new episodes came out. Occasionally I'd find some on dramacrazy.net and that'd solve my problem.
Heh Lately, I'm picky about the currently airing dramas I check out but so far I still use Viikii for those. Like Coffee House and Bad Guy :)
I'm not sure how you go about dlding and syncing subs like I've seen others do and I haven't got the patience to do it either so streaming always works for me.
Those Athena shots look positively scrumptious. I'm not so into spy dramas and all but I might actually follow this one. Or hope you screen-cap the good stuff like with Bad Guy ;)

Date: 2010-08-01 06:11 am (UTC)for kdramas that are already finished, aired, and available in other streaming sites such as aznv, then yeah. i wouldn't use viikii. but honestly they are the fastest subbers that i know of. could you reccommend others?
also the comments are pretty lulzy on viikii and i admit to enjoying them.
but then there are things that i can't find anywhere like the nodame final movement 2 film. *sob* waaant it soooo bad. which makes me appreciate subbers on the net a lot as well as wishing it would be out already. sigh.

Date: 2010-08-01 06:22 am (UTC)Although, I got impatient the other day waiting for BG subs and watched an episode on viikii. It's actually in "HQ" on the site so if I start it again, I'll probably finish it there.

Date: 2010-08-01 08:42 am (UTC)Not anymore. Chuno, because near the end I couldn't wait for softsubs anymore, and Kim Soo Ro, but simply because it was the only way and now even that isn't possibe anymore. *grrr* And I can't watch this drama raw, it drove me crazy enough when I watched "Chuno" on viikii with subs half done.
Otherwise I prefer downloading plus softsubs, because streams annoy me way too much.
Before Kim Soo Ro I was never in the situation that a drama I was interested in wasn't subbed by another team besides Viikii. So next time I might wait until someone picks it up before I start watching a new drama. It's too frustrating.

Date: 2010-08-01 12:10 pm (UTC)Thankfully I'm only following Dong Yi right now and its sub team on W2 is very fast, sometimes we get subtitles 2 days after the episode aired... but next season I'll be intested in many dramas and I'll have to wait for at least 4 episodes to be subtitled before I begin watching I think...
