dangermousie: (Liz Max seduction by how_iconic)

Yes, I know I did a shippy post a while back, but this one is focusing only on my TV ships. Besides I feel like it, blah blah blah....

So, here's Dangermousie's Top 10 (no order):

1 John/Aeryn, Farscape: My TV OTP to end all TV OTPs. They are strong and co-dependent and they mess each other up and make each other better, and there is funny, and hurt, and breath-taking chemistry, and some unimaginable sacrifices.

2 Logan/Veronica, Veronica Mars: My newest OTP. There's snark and there angst and there's HOT. How can you not love them when she turned him in for murder and his Daddy tried to make a BBQ out of her. And all that after they started dating.

3 Max/Liz, Roswell: I don't usually go for the "two very nice people in love with each other" thing, but when you have unbelievable angst, and destiny and alien hussies and a very sweet and young and passionate vibe, count me in.

4 Michael/Maria, Roswell: the snarky, inperfect couple of Roswell. If M/L was your dream relationship when you were younger, M/M was something else. They really worked, too (until the writers got "creative" in S3, but thankfully they fixed it by the end), and there were some amazingly unexpected romantic gestures that made me swoon.

5 Mal/Inara, Firefly: they took angst and UST to a whole new level. I just wanted to scream at them to do it already. Apparently I am not the only one as someone actually yelled it out loud during the midnight showing of Serenity.

6 Simon/Kaylee, Firefly: they are really nice, and really sweet and just perfect for each other and I would say more, but I am too busy dying of the awwwwww...

7 Helo/Boomer, BSG: Star-crossed don't come more impossible than "I am in love with a robot whose species wiped out humanity" or "I betrayed my race for a human and actually developed free will." So yeah.

8 Lee/Kara, BSG: Or would be, if they ever hooked up. Why? Because best friends+sexiness=hot.

9 Buffy/Angel, BtVS: Oh, I used to ship for them like crazy. All that gorgeous, sex-charged impossibility with so. much. angst.

10 Willow/Oz, BtVS: back before Willow inexplicably became lesbian (seriously, how hard is it to look up the word "bisexual?"), I thought Willow and Oz were just the cutest thing ever.

First TV Ship: Locksley/Marian, Robin of Sherwood: I was 8 when I first fell in love with this UK series. I rewatched it recently, and guess what, 80s hair aside, Robin and Marian are still angsty, smart and very very HOT together.

Most hardworking OTP: Nathan/Haley, One Tree Hill: Because that show is pretty dreadful and the only reason I can even tolerate it is the cuteness that is Nathan and Haley, a.k.a. couple who thinks 17 is not to young to marry. It helps that they are the only cast members not made out of wood. They aren't going to make Romeo and Juliet weep with envy, but at least they are tolerable, which is more than I can say for the rest of that mess.

I preferred Maria and Michael, especially if Maria wasn't singing. It was the weird snarkiness that was the most enjoyable. And it's nice to see someone not worship the whole Buffy/Spike thing. Since you know, sexual assault isn't supposed to be nice. And I love me some Spike.

The Maria singing was just...huh? It was really OOC for her to ditch Michael and become selfish twit No 1. I have no idea what the writers were doing with that.

Re: S/B: not a fan. I like Spike as a character, but always preferred B/A. By the end, BtVS was such a mess I stopped caring about who ended up with who alltogether!

Oh, thank you, I have so had my butt kicked for pointing out that Willow's bisexual. Why is that so bad? Why do you have to be one or the other - particularly since they made a point of showing her to be continued to attracted to some men even if she was having sex with women?

Exactly. I never understood the big deal.

Because bisexual women are bad and against the cause of gay rights.

(jk, it annoyed me too)

Word word word to #1. :D

And on #10 too - "hello, gay now?" Bugged me. Like you said, what the heck was wrong with calling her bi? (She was in love with Xander for years, and still was even when she loved Oz too - that's not confusion or any sort of experimentation that ended up being 'cured' in season 4! And then things like the jacket guy in season 7...) I liked B/A and B/S, but Willow and Oz were my absolute Jossverse OTP. Their breakup still makes me weepy.

Oh, yes, J/A. *dies*

In my imaginary little world, Willow bumps into Oz somewhere in Brazil and they hook up again!

Yes! After finally ridding herself of She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named in an Amazon quicksand pit... *g*

Amen to that. Willow is clearly bi not gay. There's actually a difference. I always saw Willow falling in love with Tara because it was her you know, not because she was so disgusted by Oz she decided to change sides. /sarcasm. And making her actually hooking up with someone else so soon after Tara's death? *rolls eyes*

Give me the old ships any day. I'm no fan of the most recent ones like B/S. My favorite ones still remain B/A, Will/Oz (they were so cute they made me forget all about Willow/Xander) and Xander/Cordelia. I guess I got stuck on Season 2.

Agreed. I may not like W/T as much as I love W/O, but at least their romance seemed to come out of a genuine connection, not just "hey, we're both gay, let's get it on!" Meh.

I NEVER understood the reason for Willow suddenly becoming a lesbian with no looking back. It undermined the whole cuteness thing of Oz and her being so meant for each other (sort of like the Spike/Buffy thing).

Some of my favorite OTPs from television:

Mulder/Scully- The X-Files: So messed up and loving and intellectual and perfect. You'd never find two more wounded, lonely people who are absolutely perfect for each other. They're both deeply flawed and fall to pieces sometimes, but they're always there for each other to catch each other when they stumble and help pick up the pieces when it all falls apart. The only OTP I've ever seen where the love was on such a deep level it almost wasn't romantic anymore.

Simon/Kaylee- Firefly: So perfect for each other and so sweet on all levels. Each one deserves the best, which is the other. Kaylee finds someone who understands just what she's worth and loves her and thinks she's a lady no matter that she's a mechanic and Simon finds someone who can give him some shelter from the storm of his very complicated life.

Buffy/Angel- Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Before it all got messed up and spinoffs came along, Buffy and Angel were the angsty, perfect star crossed couple.

Clark/Lois- Smallville: Yes, Lana is still the prefered girl at this point in the show, but I love that Clark and Lois hated each other from day one since we all know the story ends with Clark falling head over cape for her.

Kate/Sawyer- Lost: What! Not Jack, you say? Nope, not Jack. Why? Because Kate and Sawyer have connected on a level that Jack and Kate can't since Jack's Mr. Boyscout and Kate killed a man. Sawyer understands Kate's pain and turmoil over her life and under all the crusty redneck obnoxiousness, really seems to care about her.

Sun/Jin- Lost: Never was a married couple so star crossed and romantic. These two love each other, yet they keep getting their signals crossed and having misunderstandings because of it.

Booth/Brennan- Bones: I love these two together. Brennan is snarky, tough and anti social, Booth is pleasant, acts superior and harbors guilt over being an army sniper. They're completely mismatched, but that's why they're so great together. I love that Booth tries to protect her, but will get to a point where he just lets her go and do her own thing. I love that they can't see eye to eye but they still seem to enjoy the antagonism they give each other. I love that when one tries to reach out tentatively emotionally the other swats them away. I love it that they're obviously sexually attracted to each other, but they can't stand that fact.

Michael/Maria- Roswell: These two are such a messed up couple, yet so sweet and Michael so devoted to her that you just can't help loving them. They hurt each other, they love each other and ultimately when given the choice, they choose each other over every other dream they ever had.

Jared/ Miss Parker- The Pretender: This show was the ultimate cat and mouse game, but both antagonist (Miss Parker) and mouse (Jared) ended up having a warped, yet ultimately perfect, sexual chemistry. The longer the show went, the more Jared ended up being an ally instead of an enemy for Parker and they more the two seemed to have a deep respect for each other. Plus there were the flashbacks where Jared remembers Parker before she became the messed up, ice cold woman he knows.

Don't know about the other shows you mentioned but I've got to agree on Max/Liz and Michael/Maria. Actually there were even times when M/M took over M/L in my book because they were surprisingly cute. I say surprisingly because it's obvious that M/L was supposed to be the main ship at first.
