I simply had to share this bit from ep 10. It made me lol and lol and lol. Clearly, Guo Jing has never watched a kdrama! Honey, let me lend you Tree of Heaven!






Ahahahaha. WIN. (Clearly, the Yang men have a thing about forbidden women, This is a good dress rehersal for Guo Jing for blowing a gasket on seeing who Yang Kang's son decides to have as his choice of bride :P)

Basically, yes, LOCH went all kdrama on me. I am so excited - I love fakecest to bits and never in a million years did I think I'd be getting it here (I should have known, same man who wrote ROCH after all). I did wonder about the situation when I realized who Yang Papa really was (in a 'that means they are stepsiblings even if they had no idea when they met, and they never saw each other before they were adult and never lived together. Oh well, the drama probably won't address it' way) but never thought they'd deal with it. Heeeeee.

The whole scene with YK finding out the truth was pretty angsty awesome but with Huang Rong interjecting her hilarity and practicality in there. Heh.
































I also loved the scene with Yang Kang and his mother once they leave the palace. I have ambivalent feelings towards Xiruo (she is driven too much by impulse without thinking for my liking) but there is no doubt she loves her son and he loves her back.





The scene with Honglie and Xiruo and YK was actually sad - I continue to like Honglie (better than I do Papa Yang who I think is a lousy husband and not a great father, either, however much of a hero he is). It's the best way to break off something so complicated though.



Time to confess. I love this guy. Love him. Even though he probably has more stds that are presently known to man.



I really like that Huang Rong may tease Guo Jing about being dense but she is an utter lioness about him with everyone else - nobody is allowed to call him stupid in her hearing. HR=utter love. This cap is not related to the observation but whatever.



I liked that is showed how majorly awkward the readjustment was for Papa Yang and Xiruo, despite their love.





Awww, poor Guo Jing. I can totally imagine him fantasizing about a family that is whole. He is so projecting into YK's situation - he does have his issues even if he never lets them rule him.

I honestly can't stand either of Yang Kang's parents. His mom is so whiny and there's something about the actress' expressions that just bugs me. Every time she has a crying scene she does this thing with her mouth that to me literally looks like this :C IT'S SO ANNOYING. His dad is just a tool.

Guo Jing continues to charm me with his ridiculously stupid face. He's so kind-hearted, but so so dumb. I'm glad he has Huang Rong as his OTP because otherwise I doubt he'd live past 30.

His birth father is horrible! Everyone is all shocked why he isn't screaming Daddy and hugging the guy all over the place but he's never even known of the guy's existence before and the man makes no move to get close with wife or son and never even looked for them! At least the 'fake' father genuinely loved him. People keep going on and on about how awesome birth father is and I wonder what they have been drinking. (It reminds me of ROCH where nobody except Yang Guo himself seemed to realize Guo Jing and Huang Rong provided a really miserable childhood for him and went on and on about awesomeness - though HR did realize later).

The mother is a lunatic. She is so emo and weepy and honestly - cry me a river! Your husband died (you thought), a common enough occurence back then and you married a freaking prince and lived adored and with your son taken care of - boohoo, tragic! And she just does whatever she thinks of without any thoughts of consequences to anyone, her supposedly beloved son included. And yes, fish mouth!

I think all parents in this are tools. Guo Jing's 'teachers' drove me insane by constantly insulting him and trying to kill him on ridiculous suspicion and lamenting that he is talentless because he did not improve under their tutelage (even though seeing he improved asap under monk guy's, clearly it was their teaching that was at fault). I think we were supposed to like them which - no.

Guo Jing is definitely Chinese Forrest Gump. Seriously. And yes, he needs HR to extricate him :)

She did though not too much yet - I like her better than I do YK's parents or GJ's teachers, but still, clearly am not cut out for medieval tough love (GJ was matter-of-factly telling how he was punished as a kid by not being fed for a day and I went - whaaaaaaat?). Still, in comparison with other ones, not bad so far.

Yeah, everyone was angry at poor Yang Kang because he loved the king and hated real!Dad. Well of course he does. The king treated him as if he were his own son and he's never met real!Dad. And real!Dad? Kind of a douche. Kind of a really really big selfish douche. And I hate that he just wants to barge into their lives expecting mom and Yang Kang to give up their lives because he suddenly appeared after being gone for 18 years?

Guo Jing's teachers are just a bunch of bullies. Guo Jing is just a freaking kid and not a bright one at that. What's the use of insulting him? It's not like it's gonna make him learn faster.
