While creepy elders are discussing killing Guo Jing if he persists in not wanting to marry Nianci (!!!), Yang Kang just goes down on his knees and asks for permission to marry Nianci himself!!!!! AAHHHHHHH! It takes a lot of nerve to calmly ask permission to marry your stepsis from a bunch of homicidal lunatics.

LOL, got it in one. Guo Jing is kind, selfless, good at fighting and...dim. Think Chinese Forrest Gump. I love him to bits though. (And I love his pairing with HR - she is clever and can take care of him that way, but he teaches her kindness and can also fight to protect her. It's an unusual drama trope).

I love this actor. I finished young warriors of the yang clan yesterday and I cried at the end OMG...Especially about the youngest brother...
Yuan HOng portrayed the role of the General Liao SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO well ! You can see that he cares for his people a lot he maybe cruel but he is not heartless... I think the girl that he loved was in love with him too and deeply cared for him but since he is an ennemy this is impossible too. Concerning her feeling for Wu Lang in my opinion she cares for him too but she is not charmed by him unlike she is by Yelu Xie (who can resist him ?). Besides he is a Song and a Yang (a hero) that is why she went with him but I have never felt that she is attracted or in love with him (I don't understand why people think she loves Wu Lang).
Yuan Hong eyes are so expressiv ! I don't like the way they wrote the character of Yang Kang here to make him too lovable.

Liu Shi Shi : not only she looks like Liu Yi Fei (lookwise) but actingwise she does too. She was in Yang Clan drama too but she had one facial expression in the whole drama. The actresses who acted Wu Lang's wife and Qi Lang's wife were good especially the later. I felt for her so much ! The thing which helps her is she has somewhat chemistry with her male costars (this is more from their parts). Everyone says how much she is good but the actress has only bland look.

PS : maybe I am in the minority but the actress who acts Pan Ying is prettier than princess Chai. The latter looks too manly. I know she is a villain in the drama but as we say in french "appelons un chat un chat".

Ouyang Ke is stupid and arrogant (but with nothing to back that arrogance with). He is not even worth of looking at Huang Rong. He such a jerk (not only a womaniser but also an abuser)

Yang Kang here is mucho sympathethic so far but how will they turn him into a villain because he must choose the dark side and for entirely personal reasons. So far his actions seem very noble. Curious...

In the book Guo Jing's masters do not like HR since she insulted them when they first met (yes they were rude to Guo Jing but she should be a bit more polite, especially considering the fact that they took care of him from childhood) but HR's dad doesn't like Guo Jing either and for even lesser reasons.

Poor Mu Nianci, I always liked her and thought that she was unlucky at love. Actually her later scenes in the book made cry.

From what I have been told (not having read the novels), this version made Ouyang Ke very different from the book version - this one is smart and capable, if morally not good.

YK - I've been told he does do plenty of bad stuff later by people who are ahead of me on the watch. He isn't just noble and pure even now - he can be arrogant anf spoiled and conflicted about his heritage (even if all that got knocked out of him by the deaths of his parents, it doesn't have to be permanent reform). He is firmly a good guy now though so I wonder how he will change because I know even in this version he doesn't get to skip happily through the daisies.

I think LYF is "pretty" but not beautiful (let alone gorgeous). I don't like her ears and she does not appeal me. You know there are people who may have pretty features but they lack "charm" something in their "eyes". Therefore these kind of persons make me feel that they are the likes of Barbie and Ken (LYF, Angelina Jolie ect...) . For example in my view I think girls like the girl who acted Qi Lang's wife (beautiful smile), MGY, Mao Inoue, Nam Sang Mi, Han Go Eun, Joe Wong (in her prime), Sofia loren in her prime, Monica Bellucci in her prime, Sharon Tate, some thai actresses, a lot of black actresses (especially African and Brazilian ones) ect... are prettier than girls like LYF because they have "something" (maybe the smile, not empty eyes...). This is not the "conventional" beauty.
