Further episode 4 of LOCH thoughts
May. 26th, 2010 05:42 pm1. OK, you guys win, Hu Ge is good-looking. The scene of his breakdown on realizing his dimness let the murder of his father get away so there is no revenge to be had, was lovely! Though I can't be sad the man got away - he has a wife and kids and I am softhearted.
I think this ep does play with 'revenge, is it worth it?' theme, actually, both for Guo Jing but even more for Yang Kang, about which more below.
Question - are we supposed to like Guo Jing's six teachers? Because I want to stab them in the face(s). They should freaking stop calling Guo Jing an idiot. Every time they do it, I want to twist their necks off. The guy knows he is not the swiftest out there, he keeps calling himself an idiot too (the scene of him crying to himself about it was :( :( :(), so stop with it, freaks! UGH.

2. I adore Guo Jing but I find myself even more interested in Yang Kang's storyline. Because at least in Guo Jing's case, his revenge is against some guy he's never met. In Yang Kang's, once he finds out the truth about his birth, he has to kill his adopted father, the man who brought up as his own and has never treated him or his mother with anything but love and respect. In fact, he was willing to die for Yang Kang! And yes, he killed Yang Kang's father but Yang Kang has never met his father but he's been brought up by this man (also, it's not as if this guy betrayed his best friend - he and Yang Kang's bio father were traditional enemies). Hmmmmm. I really like Yang Kang so far - he is bright, unlike Guo Jing, but a lot less pure-hearted (which makes sense, he's been brought up a Prince). Still a good guy though (so far).

This is going to get complicated

Date: 2010-05-26 11:51 pm (UTC)long time lurker... my fandom of this wuxia has no bounds. For the purist, this may not be your thing, but I must've read this for 10+times, I madly love parts of the book but pulled hair at certain plots, I approve the (MANY) alterations they made to the original work. It's almost like the best fanfic written for ME!
Enjoy the ride!
