Tsuki No Koibito - ep 1

I am about 15 minutes into Kimura Takuya's Tsuki No Koibito and I really really love the drama. (I so rarely follow even one airing jdrama but this season I am following three).

One problem. Everyone is all in a shipping frenzy - will Kimura end up with his close friend or the awesome Chinese striker girl. But my problem is this - I loathe his character so very much. Kimura plays him well so it's no slight on his ability but the character himself is appalling. Those of you who watched twdrama Silence, he is sort of like Vic Zhou's character only with Vic you always got the sense of fragility and wonder and a dreamer crushed (and he had a horrible father making him do stuff) but here that is all absent - he is a capricious uncaring plutocrat, firing an employee, throwing a concept into disarray and making everyone work overtimr, or bulldozing a factory full of striking workers (not inside, he doesn't make worker jam :P) with about as much concern as I would exhibit upon changing shoes. UGH. I loathe him - he is an interesting person but a despicable human being. His friend may be cool:



But I would never want her with him.

Oh, and I adore the striker girl - she is my favorite character. She reminds me of heroine of Silence. I don't want her with him either though. Ugh.



I don't want him with anyone. He is toxic. I reserve the right to change my mind but for now - eeeeek!

ETA: I changed my mind. The first meeting with Striker Girl was too funny for words. I think I may have a ship after all. Oh YES.




ETA2: Screw it. I confess. All it takes is for him to do one of his patented intense looks and I am a goner. Kimura, what are you doing to my sense of morals? :)

I'm shipping old friend/kimura... but I think it's going to be chinese/kimura.. I'm a sucker for old-friends-turned-lovers, what can I say? I prefer that to a cinderella story (poor girl saved by rich guy), even though I like the last type too. I have to see more to give my opinion ^^

I discovered Kimura relatively recently but I swore I'd watch anything he'd be in and I'm so watching this. I'd actually love to see him playing a jerk. Kimura can play anything.

Lol at the cap for the Striker Girl pic. Is that something she says to him?

Btw, totally unrelated but...did you manage to finish watching Tamra Island? I'm super excited because the D-Cut gets released next week so I'll finally be able to watch all 21 episodes of it. Amazon better not take a month to get the package to me!

That girl sounds awesome. From your next post you seem to think he'll end up with the other woman though. I don't know if my poor heart can take another favorite ship of mine to sink to the bottom of the ocean after Chuno (I'm still feeling sorry for DG 2 months after the end of the drama).

But I'll take the risk. I downloaded ep 1. I'll wait until more eps are out to start watching though because I'm watching too many dramas at the moment: Cinderella, Prosecutor Princess, Personal Taste, Dong Yi, Hwang Jin Yi (it's an older one I'm finishing) and I have my weekly american tv shows to keep up with aklso (Bones, Stargate Universe and Smallville).

I didn't have the money saved for Tamra but I ordered the dvd anyway. I've been waiting for it for so long. Can't wait!

Yes! I was so waiting for you to watch this! Because when I finished watching I was sooooo confounded/conflicted/disgusted/intrigued/hooked all at once.

It takes a master seducer like Kimutaku to pull off this character I think... because yeah, really he's a bastard. But just wait....

Maybe I should watch this with subs again because honestly, the characters didn't do anything for me. The only awesome person is the striker girl. Maemi is easy-going, but didn't really pique my interest. Rensuke and Kazami seemed very cold and like typical business men. And Yuzuki? Awful! xD
But maybe it is a drama about the characters changing, so I definitely will catch next week's episodes as well.
Heck, this is such an awesome cast, the drama must be good. *hopeful*

I think subs make a huge difference - it's definitely not a drama I could have enjoyed raw. But you never know - everyone loved Long Vacation and I loathed it (speaking of kimutaku dramas) so you never know how a drama will strike you.

Ugrh I hate Kimitaku`s character as well.
I`ve never hated a main character since...well, since that lakorn I`ve mentioned to you(which is still airing LOL)-oops now I have to tell you how much I hate the main girl in that lakorn: The "evil other girl" killed 40% of of characters in 9 episodes (this lakorn is totally remanding me of telenovela named "Mujer de Judas" where the main villain killed 180-ish out 200 characters-not kidding about the number and btw the telenovela had around 230 episodes)and tried to kill the main girl at least 4 times BUT I am actually not satisfied yet- I want her to torture the main girl even more, dammit I am fine if she kills her -that is how retarded(brainless) and annoying the main girl is. And dammit if the main guy falls in love with a nearest tree I would still ship him with a tree instead with the main girl (the main guy is totally a Thai version of Vladimir ,baron Korf jr. from BN ) -that is how much I hate her!!!!
OK, that felt good ,but I should stop talking about it RIGHT NOW .LOL

Back to the main topic :Basically, I don`t ship him with anyone- I might ship him with someone when he becomes a real human being instead of an a** he is now.

episode 10- since the main guy can`t stand her AT ALL (whenever she talks to him he treats her like a contagious disease- OMG, you have to see it to believe it- I still have a grin on my face remembering the time she walked on him when he was angsting in the woods-he was totally looking above her shoulder and romancing the nearest tree while majorly insulting her at the same time ROFL)she drugged him in order to have sex with him- he kissed her (cuz he was heavily drugged and he thought she was the main girl) and than completely passed out LOL -she was still able to get him to engage her (cuz he does not remember anything so he is taking responsibility for the things he did not do)which made our brainless heroine to finally realize she was in love with the hero. I am going to support this plot-line only cuz Techit still thinks of Retee the same way(and he treats her the same way he always did-YAY for our hero) and cuz KaoHom(the heroine) is the one angsting now.
episode 11(today)- Retee is going to stab KaoHom with a large knife- I still have not forgiven KaoHom` actions(she humiliated and mistreated our poor amazing hero countless times and she is brainless all the time) yet so I say: horay!!!! LOL
BTW- there is a DNA analysis in this lakorn (in episodes 10 amd 11 out of 16, I think?!)- another horay!!!!
And the extremely clingy "other guy" is showing signs of rational thinking (he is the one responsible for the DNA analysis plans and he is beginning to realize his cousin Techit might actually love KaoHom which is so funny cuz on average ,it takes other characters 42 seconds to realize that-yeah, Techit is THAT OBVIOUS!!!)

AND there are a lot of shirtless scenes - a couple of them are in a tub and the shower(there is angsting in the pool,as well) - Techit REALLY likes to angst shirtless and in a tub LOL

What can I say?! That lakorn is pure crack!!! ROFL

wishboniko is only a little behind with subbing-she is really fast.
There are still 3 episodes left to air on TV (today, next Friday and Saturday).
Episode 10 featured a total surprise- the best "declaring your undying love scene" in a lakorn EVER- Techit is truly WOW!!!!
And Nawa (the other guy) is getting hotter and more likable ever since he stopped with the clinging -when KaoHom connfesed him she acctualy LOVES Techit -brainless girl improved by miles in episodes 10 and 11.
Retee managed to kill yet another person ROFL
And episode 10 had more shirtless-ness than OML.
And acting improved by miles (first 3 episodes were not that good acting-wise cuz all 4 leads are complete rookies but nowadays the acting is a LOT better. The two guys are IMMENSELY TALENTED and will become HUGE stars -there is no doubt they`ll be on top for at least 15 years from now on)

It is so BAD that it is GOOD!!! Got to calm myself. I`m enjoying it to much, but I haven`t watched any rape-less lakorn in 4 years- The rape-less part and Techit angst-ing make this lakorn a MUST watch IMO.

One more thing I LOVE about this lakorn -All the people whom Retee killed died in a different way(there was a car "accidant", falling off a roof, dropping a hairdryer in a bathtub...)- She is really creative!!! ROFL

Loathe a Kimura character? Impossible!

I watched this raw and loved it. Watched it with subs and loved it more. Thank you Jdrama gods; this is my first Jdrama obsession since Love Shuffle. And this after only 1 episode.

And yes, I ship Kimura with best friend. I love their relationship, oh, and its Ryoko.

Oh god, this episode was sooo good!!! I must've hyperventilated every time Kimura was on screen. He was just smoldering wasn't he???!!!

I am shipping Ryoko and him, I cannot stand Lin Chiling, she's such a bad actress, the way she spoke really annoyed me, and I find her body language very odd, it's as though she's trying to be all spunky and cute (in the way she moves and in her facial expressions), but she's so awkward, cos she's just too lanky and it just doesn't work out...

Loved the first episode. To the extent I will watch the RAW on Monday, even with my limited Japanese.

I love/hate Kimura's character. He is so evil that it's awesome. Best part about the drama was at the end, when he cracked that smile for just a couple of seconds. I think he is quite nonredeemable and if the best friend has not been able to rehabilitate him somewhat until now, it will never happen.

But only 7 episodes. Why?

Toxic is the word. God he was AWFUL! That all scheme to get her? Evil :o. You know who seems equally evil but in a very mysterious way? Shota's character. I'm really wondering the all thing. Also I like how he seems really interested in Ryoko. The thing is, I could totally see him with Xiu Mei or even Top Model girl.

Actually, I don't mind any shipping which probably makes me an alien XD. I can sense that everything could actually work here. But, like you, I have a soft spot for XiuMei and Kimutaku because oh the intensity! That little dance at the end of the episode? GUHGUHGUHGUH!!!
