First off, PSA: Livejournal seems not to be emailing comments again. I have comments from as much as 5 hrs ago that haven't been mailed. Just an FYI.

Second - I am still utterly unspoiled for eps 11/12 of both Personal Taste and Prosecutor Princess and aim to remain that way until I can binge on both on the weekend. Are you impressed? (Though after watching Stairway to Heaven, I am now paranoid about what the writer will do to my poor Jin Ho and Gae In).

But now on to the point of this post. The "pick one out of these two upcoming similar dramas" poll.

[Poll #1561372]

I haven't received comments made this morning (~13 hours ago). Also, now they're not even showing up in my lj inbox, so I have no idea what's going on. VERY ANNOYING.

There are some interesting things airing next round of dramas, and I cannot wait to see Rain in a drama again. Fugitive and Bad Guy are probably my two must-watches at this point - I'll have to see what else pops up along the way.

(I laughed when KSA dropped out of I Am Legend - do you think she saw your disappointed post and threw in the towel? :P)

They are still showing up in my inbox with a small lag but email-wise, it's dead. No idea what on earth.

Fugitive and Bad Guy are two of the ones on my 'must see' list as well. (The other ones on the list as Road N. 1, Athena and Daemul) but I am excited for a whole bunch more.

do you think she saw your disappointed post and threw in the towel

1. Road N. 1 cuz of the perfect cast BUT seriously, Korean War is not my thing

2. I am not a fan of action dramas (B&W is the exception) - didn`t watch Iris and I am not planning to watch Athena and Fugitive

3. What's up cuz of the cast

4. Lee Phillip- enough said!! LOL But I am going to give Kim Soo Ro a chance (not really a fan of the leads, but I am a fan of some supporting actors) even though I DO NOT LIKE period dramas.

5. I like Lee Yeon Hee and LOVE Song Jun Ki so I`ll watch both dramas. It has already been established that Jaejoong has talent and Yunho should never act again- can`t wait to see if Micky and/or Chang Min can act

6. KNG, duh!!! That is a no- brainer.

7. Yoon Jung Hee from FH and Lee Jong Hyuk -that is an awesome cast. I hope they are really going to make Queen of Housewives 2.

8. Another no- brainer - It is Lee Seung Gi we are talking about. But I am going to marathon Coffee House cuz it is probably going to be enjoyable and I actually do not dislike Park Shi Yeon(I guess cuz the first time I saw her was in When Spring Comes with KNG- she was likable in that drama). Also, Jung Woong In is in it -he is always funny.

9. Giant- LOVE the teen cast, can`t stand most of the the adult cast. King of Baking, Kim Tak Goo - Yoon Shi Yoon was one of the few reasons I watched 126 episodes of HKTTR.

10. Neither - ugh!

I like action dramas, and now that I finally managed to finish IRIS, I'm very much looking forward to Athena. I'm also very interested in seeing Rain in a drama once again, so both of these are a must.

Of the others, I'll probably wait to see other people's reactions before possibly checking out some of them. Most likely I'll wait until several episodes are subbed and then do some marathoning, since I've got a short attention span and tend to loose interest at some point while watching a still-airing drama.

A good case in point is that at the moment I'm marathoning Oh! My Lady. I wanted to finish at least a few of those pesky halfway watched dramas before starting anything new, and am now catching up with O!ML since it looks like light fun.

From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
OML really is adorable, isn't it?

It really is. After finishing episode 12 with the WithS2 subs, I couldn't resist going to viikii for more, since I'm clearly addicted to this fluff :P. Eps 13-14 are probably completely subbed there already (13 is at least - watching now), so I only have to wait until next week to finish this one as well :D.

Though I still wonder if they are actually going to pair Min Woo with his ahjumma. I see interest on his side, but she is as oblivious as ever :P.

I hope they pair them but, oddly, if they don't I won't mind.

She seems highly compatible with the director as well. Just as long as she doesn't go back to the horrible douchebag of an ex-husband, I'll be happy enough. He really is a total worm :P! UGH!

I read that your evil plot against Kim Soon-Ah worked! :P LOL

I haven't been keeping up with K-dramas in a long time and usually end up seeing things year(s) after everyone else, but a weekly dose of RAIN might change that.

Mmmm, Rain. So glad he's coming back to dramas!

I'm most looking forward to Bad Guy and What's Up. I'm really hoping they won't disappoint.
Is Jeon Ji Hye confirmed for Fugitive then I'll definitely watch it. She's pretty much the reason I got into k-entertainment. I'll be checking out Athena too because it has such a great cast.
My Country Calls looks cute but I think it'll be a mediocre fluff drama. I do like the cast so I'll probably check it out.

Heh looks like your post really did a number on KSA that she dropped out of IAL xD

I have had a very long day, so no squee. (Except, you know, a small one for Lee Seung-gi and Kang Ji-hwan.) :D

As for the sageuk/family dramas - I don't usually watch >24 ep dramas more than once a year, so yeah, Dong-yi is it. Ahhhh tired.

Not a fan of war anything, so I'm going to resist the temptation of So Ji Sub and skip Road No. 1 altogether :( It sounds like the Korean version of Pearl Harbour anyway.

Kim Soo Ro = GOD YES! It might turn out terribly, but it has Go Joo Won and Ji Sung, so I'm in. I'd probably be more interested in Faith if they dropped Kim Hee Sun. She's really pretty, but zero screen presence, and now that they've lost Jun Ki, there's no draw there.

Paradise Ranch looks awful already! Not going to touch that one with a 10 foot pole. Sungkyunkwan Scandal might be alright; maybe Yoochun will turn out to be another Jaejoong, and Song Joong Ki is ADORABLE. The "Joseon F4" comparisons are making me wince, though.

The romcoms aren't really impressing me, tbh. My Country Calls look like typical brainfluff Lee Soo Kyung fare, and while Coffee House has Kang Ji Hwan, Ham Eun Jung looks like his DAUGHTER. Might catch Kim Tak Goo for pretty boy Yoon Shi Yoon, but Giant's a bit too close to the war thing for me.

Re: I Am Legend "no cast", LOL. The KSA and IAL threads on Soompi are all flailing in misery.

The worst thing about Paradise Ranch is that NONE of the leads are good actors. I've only seen Changmin in those DBSK Banjun specials, and he ad-libs well so we never know, but he's too green to carry a drama. Yoo Ha Na is adorable but overacted horrendously in My Lucky Star and Sons of Sol Pharmacy. Lee Yeon Hee is a piece of wood, and Joo Sang Wook isn't much better. Needless to say I'm not excited about it, LOL. The only thing I'm mildly interested in is the fact that they filmed in Australia.

Ditto on Song Joong Ki and Go Joo Won - I just hope Go Joo Won has a big enough role in Kim Soo Ro. Re: the variety shows, yup! Been on a Happy Together craze, and I'm keeping up with LGDT. It seems Go Joo Won will be on another episode of LGDT, this time with Eunhyuk, Junho of 2PM, Minho and Chung Myung Hoon.

I don't mind Seung Gi, but I'm holding back on Nine-Tailed Fox. Whether I watch it depends almost entirely on who they cast as female lead at this point - I hope it's Shin Se Kyung! I think she'd be perfect for it. If they cast Sandara Park, I ain't going anywhere near it. I'm not thrilled by the melodrama label, anyway; I only like shovels of angst if I know the two leads will at least end up together.

IAL was going to be a waste of time with Jang Shin Young as one of the main characters, anyway :P The only way they'd salvage this ahjumma-rocker vehicle is if they cast a pair of amazing leads, and as Mousie mentioned in another post, there's a shortage of A-listers right now.

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY- YOU AND I INDEED THINK ALIKE!!!!

"It seems Go Joo Won will be on another episode of LGDT, this time with Eunhyuk, Junho of 2PM, Minho and Chung Myung Hoon." -That is awesome news. I was playing catch up with LGDT2 , as well.

Did you see the HT3 episode with Lee Sang Woo/Jang Hyuk- wasn`t it ridiculously funny?

Nine-Tailed Fox- I think the Hong sisters will chose a good female lead, but I have a little confession to make : the Hong sisters are not my favorite script writers (I always feel like their dramas lack a sense of direction and are without substance -i guess cuz there are two writers and they are always trying to satisfy the fandom and win the ratings battle at all cost)

Yeah, ahjumma-rocker was not destined to work anyway LOL

BTW, are you watching any Sat-Sun kdramas these days?

Date: 2010-05-08 07:35 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hanjae.livejournal.com
Poor Go Joo Won was probably brought back on LGDT because he was so hilariously unathletic in the Canada Special, LOL. And yes, the Lee Sang Woo episode of HT3 was a riot; they had 3 really stoic and awkward men on that time!

I more or less agree with you on the Hong sisters - people make a big deal about them and praise them to the skies, but I really don't see it. The only one of their dramas that I really liked was Fantasy Couple, and it was really Han Ye Seul that made the Anna character awesome and not the script. The rest of their romcom dramas are far too cliche and sometimes rather nauseatingly cute.

I heard that the Hong sisters are the ones who want Shin Se Kyung and the PD wants Sandara Park? Hopefully the Hong sisters have enough clout to pick someone they're happy with. Jeon Ji Hyun's name has actually been thrown around for the role of the Gumiho, but I think it's a bit too much like a rehash of My Sassy Girl if she takes it.

Re: Sat-Sun dramas, only Merchant Kim Man Deok. I'm dreadfully behind, but I'm still watching it. The rest look pretty meh. I'm interested in checking out Life is Beautiful, but it's taking ages for the subs to come out because the WITHS2 translators are having serious difficulties with the Jeju dialect, so I'll probably wait until at least 10+ episodes are subbed before I start.

Date: 2010-05-08 08:02 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] boginje.livejournal.com
OK, this is getting creepy!!! How is it possible that you and I are so alike? LOL Fantasy Couple is the only Hong sisters drama I truly liked- cuz of Anna (Also Anna`s husband and the crazy village girl were so funny)
Hong sisters want Shin Se Kyung or the girl from Smile, you and BOF. Sandara Park was never a contender for the role (the sisters said so).

Merchant Kim Man Deok seems nice but I still have not started watching it. Don`t bother with Life is Beautiful- the gay couple has little screen time and the young interesting couple has even less screen time- it is a really really boring drama. On the other hand Definitely Neighbors is really nice.

Are you watching jdramas this season? I am watching Sunao ni Narenakute, Tumbling and Yankee-kun to Megane-chan.

I am watching one lakorn , as well- have you ever watched a lakorn?

Date: 2010-05-08 09:08 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hanjae.livejournal.com
I'd be happy with Lee Min Jung as the Gumiho, too. She and Seung Gi would be cute together, plus she can act.

So Nam Sang Mi and Lee Sang Yoon has little screen time? They (and the gay couple) is what I was interested in, damn. What are they spending most of their time talking about then, if the actual couples get so little screen time? I wouldn't mind checking out Definitely Neighbours for Yoo Ho Jung and Shin Sung Rok (could be cute), but the subs look quite incomplete on Viikii so I haven't tried it.

I'm waiting for all of Sunao to air before I watch it (I like watching my angsty dramas in one scoop or I'll lose interest), and I'm REALLY interested in Moon Lovers, but I'll wait until that ends as well before I start. I like knowing who the couple will be in order to avoid disappointment, LOL.

Mousie, sorry for spamming your inbox!

I`ve been through a nasty civil war(Yugoslav Wars-when I first started elementary school we, the kids, were accompanied by UNPROFOR to school) and the country I now live in (Serbia- I am originally from a little town on the border of Bosnia and Croatia)was bombarded by NATO ten years ago so war dramas are defiantly not my thing(the emotional scars are still deep especially cuz of the aftermath of the war- I was homeless and working on the street begging and vending 12 hours a day after school, smuggling cigarettes during the Nato bombings all day long - One of the reasons I decided to attend high school specialized in training dental technicians and study dentistry on uni was the fact that as a child I could not even afford a toothbrush LOL ) - The cast of Road N. 1 is perfect but I`ll skip the drama.

I a not a fan of Kim Hee Sun and without Lee Jun Ki Faith is in real danger , but if they manage to find a good enough replacement I might watch (I would hate it if they drop Faith cuz of Lee Phillip- yeah, sometimes I am really shallow )

I think Paradise Ranch looks awful, but I am going to watch a couple of episodes (I watched Heading to the Ground - it was so AWFUL, but that was the reason I actually watched it ROFL)just for the fun of comparing it to the horror of HTTG.

I`ll watch anything with Song Joong Ki and Go Joo Won- I know you can understand the reasoning behind that sentence LOL

The romcoms aren't really impressing me, either . But My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox has Lee Seung Gi so it`s a MUST watch. Coffee House looks like it`s going to be one of those really light (no real substance) dramas one should watch when nothing else is available, so once I am done with my exams (and get my internet back) I might watch it.

I Am Legend situation is unfortunate for the people involved with the production BUT I can`t help myself - I still find it hilarious * evil grin *

BTW have you seen those variety shows you and I were discussing on your LJ?

Sorry for deleting the comment - I just wanted to add a comment about Faith!!!!

I have come to the conclusion, due to my recent run-ins with them that soompi KSA fans are insane :)

I thought KJH's OTP in Coffee House was Park Shi Yeon? But we'll see. I'll watch almost anything with him.

Re: Joseon F4. I sort of ignore that. They like throwing that around a lot for the most random stuff. I remember they trying to advertise Park Kyu from Tamra as Joseon-era Gu Jun Pyo and after having watched both dramas, I'd say you'd have to be on massive amount of drugs to make that comparison and mean it. I like that SS will be pre-filmed. I prefer pre-filmed dramas but also hopefully that will give them enough time to iron out any acting kinks of him (Yunho was terrifyingly bad in HTG).

Date: 2010-05-09 03:39 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hanjae.livejournal.com
Some of them are quite insane, yes :D Though nothing would ever come close to the rabidness that is most of the YEH fandom. You can't even make critical observations about her dramas lest one of them attacks you from nowhere.

I hope it's Park Shi Yeon! I remember saying to you that I hope it's the other girl who he ends up with (when Eun Jung hadn't been casted), but now I'm wholly in support of KJH/PSY, LOL.

WTF, Joseon-era Goo Joon Pyo?! How do you even GET that?! That is utterly insane, I must say. I'm sitting here thinking, and the only similarity I can come up with is the fact that he's filthy rich.

The funny thing is that Yoochun and Yunho were deemed the better actors of DBSK back when they did their Banjun Drama specials. In hindsight, Lee Hyuk Jae's judgment appears to be seriously faulty :P A good, talented support cast would help Yoochun in SS, I think - it didn't help Yunho at all that Go Ara's acting is suspect and Lee Sang Yoon has never bothered to act.

Date: 2010-05-09 03:48 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
I have never participated in YEH fandom but after reading this I am glad none of them ever found my My Fair Lady posts - I loathed her character in that one with the fire of a thousand suns (though I had no problem with her acting and YEH is generally one of my favorites). But the less said about that drama, the better.

I hope it's PSY too. Actually I really like her. She and her character were horrific in My Girl but she was great in La Dolce Vita and Slingshot (I wanted her with the lead in the latter, boo).

I have NO idea why they made the Gu Jun Pyo comparisons but I remember seeing them around and being put off Tamra for a while which was a pity, it's a great drama.

To be fair to Yunho, he was a horrid actor but not even Lee Byung Hun or Jang Dong Gun or Stanislawski himself could have saved a script that atrocious. I mean - the writers must have been from an alternate dimension. I liked Go Ara in Who Are You, but there she had a great script and direction and Yoon Kye Sang is miles better as a costar than Yunho.
