I am on ep 11 of Stairway to Heaven and it's official - by now I loathe every single character in this angstfest except for the unfortunate hero, who I want to ship far away from Korea after wiping his brain.

Yes, this loathing includes the heroine. She's got her memory back, she and hero reunited, she and is back in her family.

Her next move? To push to get the hero married to her stepsister, as was previously arranged between the families. You know, stepsis? The one who did her best to kill her and generally to wreck her life.

WHAAAAAAAAT? Did the accident damage her brain and make her a moron?

How does that work? She is sacrificing her own happiness and the happiness of the guy she professes to love more than anything to keep her wannabe killer happy? HOW DOES THAT EVEN COMPUTE? There's saintly and there is insane. And fine, if she was sacrificing her own feelings only, I'd just say she's a moron but to each her own. But she keeps breaking poor hero's heart over and over and over for such a lunatic cause? UGH WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU, YOU FREAK?

Seriously, WHAT THE HELL?

I think she likes being a martyr but why drag others in? This drama is giving me RAGE.

OK, this is based on previews of ep 11 so maybe they are misleading and it's more complicated. But why doesn't she just stand up and tell what happened and then say 'Songjoo oppa is mine, fuck off, alll your psychos or I will hurt you?' Seriously.

I`ve been reading your posts and 5 episodes ago it became obvious that Stairway to heaven plot is like a lakorn plot(the only difference is that lakorns always have a happy ending and Stairway to heaven doesn`t,right? I haven`t watched the drama but I think Jung Suh dies, right?)
Psycho Bitch is a typical Nang`rai(the evil other girl)and Jung Suh is a definition of a Nang’ek(leading lady).

If you manage to complete Stairway to heaven you can try watching any Thai lakorn out there(you are well prepared for the craziness LOL).

Seriously, once you are done with Stairway to heaven you NEED to watch "Love in the shadow" cuz that lakorn is a combination of Stairway to heaven insanity and Brilliant legacy greatness. I think you would LOVE it and loathe it at the same time-it is ridiculously enjoyable and seriously addictive .

P.S. I don`t think I`ve seen any Sister Luster(s) on Thai TV.

No rape- the main guy is like no other Pra`ek(male lead)I`ve seen.

He is such a cute dork. For example when he bought flowers for the main girl he says the fallowing line : "when i see your face, i feel depressed, so i bought flowers to make me feel better..."
What kind of excuse is that? ROFL The first time i heard lines like those!!! So cute!!!

AND the actor really knows how to emote which is why his character is even more likable (and pitiful nowadays).

At this point (episodes 7-9) Nang’ek is super irritating (cuz she believes everything the evil girl says while putting the hero through a lot of pain)- I can`t wait until she realizes her stupidity(I am kinda tired of seeing the hero suffer through the past episodes- I can`t wait for HER to suffer).But in a true lakorn fashion I am sure I will like her once she starts acting on her true feelings (cuz she is already attracted, but she is yet to realize that fact).

The male lead`s father deserves a special mention cuz he is an unorthodox evil parents-he is one of those board members(he wants more power for himself and he wants his son to marry a rich rich heiress), but was never able to write a business report himself (it seams that his son is writing his reports instead of him -that has been going on for at least a decade).LOL You have to see how he totally chickens out when his son tries to skip a board meeting. LOL

Yeah , it is ADORABLE, but I have to warn you :you are going to loathe many characters (for example Nang`rai is even crazier than Psyco Bitch from STH and I seriously want to throw stones on "the other guy"- I think he is way too clingy and self-centered... ) and some plot lines are only possible in lakorns(DNA analysis does not exist in lakorn-land LOL)

Let me tell you I decided to check this drama out, following your advice of ff the evil sister/mother... I started in episode 10. It was okay, I could catch up with what was going on... but then the heroine started her weirdness and I thought I was missing something. I mean, why would she go back to Sister Luster and try to hide from Hero???

And now in ep. 11 and 12 it gets weirder and weirder... WHY IS SHE DOING THIS????????? poor hero...

I have NO idea what is going on in heroine's head any more. lesbiassparrow's theory that she has Stockholm Syndrome makes about the most sense. Nobody is going to be well-adjusted after her experiences.

I feel really bad for the hero - the poor guy seems absolutely lovely but he has the misfortune of being utterly in love with a total lunatic. I just want to drag him out of there.

The sad thing is, I adored this drama to bits, in an entirely unironic way, up through about halfway in ep 10, when she decided to go back to Sister Luster. After that it slowly stopped making sense. Because before it was so excellent and angsty and made perfect emotional and character sense (now I want to watch the same drama only this time she'd only look like his dead love but truly be a different woman...) and then it went sideways into insanity land. (I also want to know why Hero doesn't seem interested why she disappeared for 5 years and acted like a diff person when they met again. Huh?)

I think this whole drama is designed to do everything and anything as long as it brings ultimate misery to the OTP.

I think the drama could skip from episode 10 to 14 and we'd not lose a thing. In fact, it'd much much better. Episode 11-13 was pointless, imo.

I really loved your recapping of the drama, and I think I should've stuck to it. I watched until episode 19 and while I found some romantic scenes, the heroine annoyed me quite a bit and the writer's way to demonstrate they happy is having them yell something and/or run like crazy.

But it was goood to watch the hero find out about her illness. Yum. :P

LOL! It's so much fun to read all your rage about your StH marathon! HAHAHA!

I've never attempted to watch that angst fest and you're making me really glad that I never got sucked into this mess! haha! I remember this being such a hit in our country when it was aired and maybe it was blessing in disguise that I haven't discovered the wonders of kdramas back then.

Actually, until about halfway into ep 10 it was 100% perfect - it was angsty, sure, but it was also romantic and made perfect sense in every way - all the interactions did - I shipped the OTP the way I did no other. And then the writer realized he had 10 more eps to go and insanity started.

Well, I am not sorry because it made me into a mad Kwon Sang Woo fangirl, but I wish the script would get back to being good.
