Clearly, Stairway to Heaven in the title refers to the path down Kwon Sang Woo's abs.
Heroine may enter the hotel room where Sexy Hero is at intending to tell him she wants to break their contract but he has other things on his mind. And who can refuse an angsty birthday boy when he looks like this and wants to gift you with expensive jewelry? I have to say I adore Sexy Hero but entirely sane he is not. He is very very functional but sanity is an iffy proposition. Poor woobie! I think Heroine should console you

Sister Luster calls her and she turns off the phone (!!!) You know, neither Sexy Hero nor Heroine should be anywhere near getting married - whether she is Jung Suh or not (it would have been such an interesting, dark drama if she were not - a Korean Vertigo), the mere fact that he is so consumed by his need to find Jung Suh means he is not ready to get hitched to anyone else. And if she is turning off the calls of her boyfriend in order to spend with a man she barely knows getting almost-kissed, she should rethink her relationship as well. I actually love their relationship pre-her-getting-memory-back so much: he is hoping she is Jung Suh but not caring too much about the truth as long as he has her around. And she doesn't know him but can't help but be drawn in because of subconscious connection but also because seeing a man pine so for a woman is devastatingly attractive. But at the same time she knows he is only pining for her, Jisung, because she looks like his lost love, not on her own merits. Oh God, they need therapy.

This whole sequence made me bawl.

Oh. Sister Luster's angst and despair were brilliant to behold. Suffer more, monster gargoyle!

Scheme, scheme, it shall all come to naught! Good may not prosper in a melodrama but evil certainly does not!

Mmmmm.

Ugh, my skin crawls when she says that to Sister Luster. Btw, genius, what are you going to do if she recovers her memory?

You know, I just thought about it - I really hope that despite all odds she and Sister Luster never knocked boots (the drama can be interpreted either way). Not out of some weird 'she must be pure for the Hero!' idea (because I am pretty sure he's not a virgin, seeing that the way he copes with his issues is through a playboy mask. I wonder if he calls them all Jung Suh in bed). No, because that would definitely be rape and also there would not be enough soap in the world to scrub Sister Luster out.

This? This made me so happy.

It's not really a jolly gathering and I rage at Hero's mother consideration for poor poor Psycho Bitch. (Lady, why are you pushing your kid into a marriage he clearly is averse to? It's not like he's 50 and needs to get married asap).

Yes, Psycho Bitch, it is all about you. Always.

Heroine tries to distill the atmosphere, stabbing daggers into poor Sexy Hero's heart with every word. Ahhhh, how I love you, angst.

She insists she's not Jung Suh and as a last-ditch effort he takes her into the attic to show her Jung Suh's things. This happens. Guys, you should NOT marry anyone else. Also, crying boys trying to kiss you? HOT.

Of course she leaves and goes back to scumbag Sister Luster. In a Douche Move Supreme, he makes her throw away her necklace, the one Song Joo gave her all those years back. DIAF, you incestious freak! Well, at least some homeless person is going to get rich.

Aha! Time for a Meaningful Angsty Korean Shower (tm). Mmmmmm. Even in the shower, Song Joo is clutching his matching necklace. Poor guy, that necklace is going to do you little good unless it's covered in arsenic to feed to all of the monster characters in this.

There are many caps for it is significant to PLOT.

Next time they meet, he notices she now sports an engagement ring. By now he's 90% sure she is not Jung Suh but he just cannot let go. Their relationship at this point is so sexy and dysfunctional and complicated and mmmm. He taunts her about her fiance, she flaunts her relationship in his face. Oh, such messed up woobies.

He totally uses Psycho Bitch to follow Jung Suh and Sister Luster on their date. A really awkward experience for everyone but him ensues. He is just quietly desperate and angry. Psycho Bitch's bug eyes are especially delicious in this scene.

I love this scene, with him deliberately playing the tune he showed Jung Suh at the beach house a couple eps back and Psycho Bitch thinking he's looking at her when he's looking at Jung Suh and Jung Suh being unable not to flashback to their hug. So delicious.

But it all fails.

Poor thing.

This was such a wrong scene and I really loved it. Because he's basically grinding with some nameless girl at the club right in front of Psycho Bitch, and he keeps looking over at her and at one point brings his dance closer so as to almost be in her face, and she is just sitting there smiling. Seriously, so screwed up. I think Psycho Bitch is an idiot to want to marry him, tbh. Yes yes, he's rich and good-looking and belonged to Jung Suh and Psycho Bitch has a thing about taking away stuff from Jung Suh. BUT. She's an idiot to want to be married to him - he's screwed up as hell and I can totally see him acting out his damage by bringing hookers home and making out with them in the living room daring her to say anything. And she really can't control him in any way. And if she was just in for the money, I'd say go for it, but she has this ego thing which wouldn't stand it well at all.

Ugh, unclean, unclean!

Jung Suh was working really late and the building's heat shut off. She woke up to find Sng Joo's coat on her and went to return it and things just went from there. Yay, some happiness at last!

(Here she is describing Sister Luster. Ahahahahaha)

The rink thing was utterly adorable! Utterly.

The preview promises me Sexy Hero contemplating suicide and also having an another angsty shower, with hero screaming/sobbing heroine's name (sadly, he's clothed - for shame!)

But even better, it looks like the Heroine gets her memory back! I hope she gets a machete and goes after the evil family like the wrath of God!
Have a really awesome MV!

Date: 2010-05-06 04:03 am (UTC)You should totally watch! They get a bunch of happy times before she dies. I promise!
I really really love that he doesn't want to get too sure of her identity because he'd rather have uncertainty and then he gets convinced it's not her but past a certain point he doesn't care. SO GOOD.
Also, I skimmed the end of next ep and OMG she regains her memory and goes after him but by that point he's so beaten down and reconciled with 'this isn't her' that his whole attitude is basically 'you are screwing with me, right? Go away, please.'

Date: 2010-05-06 04:25 am (UTC)I don't know what it is about LMH but I like him and I honestly have no reason to. I have yet to see even a second of PT...which, I totally need that show in my life. Why are the subs so slow?
You should totally watch!
I'm strongly considering it. Damn you. :P

Date: 2010-05-06 04:08 am (UTC)I am writing to ask you to rethink your actions. Your Stairway to Heaven posts and meta of doom are making me think my long-standing policy against angst. It is a drug I have thus far(for the most part) successfully resisted. Even as most of my flist has willingly given in to the addiction, I have stood firm. It is unhealthy and bad for the heart.
Yet each day for the past week, you have tempted me with sly advertisement, insistent visual propoganda(abs. showers) and a sugarcoating of the sheer weepiness in romance and Kwon Sang Woo's intense stares. You are good. Very very good.
But I protest. My heart is weak. Should I attempt this drama and it were to give out during the course of it, I would blame you entirely.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Amber

Date: 2010-05-06 04:20 am (UTC)Joking aside, it actually is the most romantic kdrama I've ever seen, I am pretty sure. I am also pretty sure it has none of your squicks in it. But yes, I cannot recommend it in good conscience to you because it does not end well (if it ended well it would be in the running for my favorite drama ever. Actually, it still may be). The OTP do apparently get married at some point and have a bunch of happy times but yeah...I fully foresee bawling by the end.

Date: 2010-05-06 04:29 am (UTC)Yup, I would actually totally try it based on your posts as long as it ENDED well - I can handle a good deal of angst as long as I know they end up happy at the end. Unfortunately, as I know the end is wildly miserable, I don't think I can do it.
why does Choi Ji Woo get all the uber sexy men though? Kwon Sang Woo AND Lee Byung Hun in Beautiful Days? Is there a drama in which she stars with Song Seung Hun too? *whines*
in more cheerful news, I have decided to watch one of the older classic kdramas so have started Lovers in Paris:) I am a few minutes in.

Date: 2010-05-06 04:34 am (UTC)Did you know that Beautiful Days was also going to end like this? (i.e. heroine dead from cancer) but apparently they changed the ending after they got a flood of letters begging them to let the OTP have a happy ending. YAY!
After this, since I am in a Kwon Sang Wooo kind of mood, I am going to try Bad Love. It's supposed to be an angsty angsty melodrama but with a happy ending. I'll see if it's any good.

Date: 2010-05-06 10:42 am (UTC)I'm on episode 3 right now. I remember, I thought the big thing was that he was going to go to America and forget her so it made me very happy to know he did keep in touch all those years. She just was run over by her sister, yep, much better.
