Falling behind on my giant airing dramas list

I am currently watchin 8 airing dramas (!!!!). That's by far the biggest number I ever followed at once. When you add in the fact that 5 of them are kdramas, each of which is 2hrs of time a week, and one a twdrama with over an hour a week (two jdramas are only 45 mins each), and that I like to do other things like read, watch non-Asian stuff and *gasp* hang out with my friends and family, you can see how easily I can get behind.

Now, some dramas I am up to the minute with - Sunao No Narenakute, Yankee kun to Megane chan, Prosecutor Princess, Personal Taste. Others - not so much. I like them but somehow I got behind.

So of course - a poll.

Don't know if you heard about the jdrama Mother yet. It's about an elementary school teacher, who doesn't like her job or children, still even her maternal instincts kick in, when she realizes that one of her students, Reina-chan is abused by her mother's boyfriend. So, since the mother doesn't do anything to help the child, she kidnaps her.
Naturally the teacher has some dark background too, and her interest with birds is suspicious too.

I voted for OML since you only have two eps to catch up on and then you can make your way through the other ones.

I was so tempted to vote for the last option and make you tell you to watch Kaibutsu-kun so I could laugh my head off at your reaction post. That Ohno fellow might just be the fugliest person I've ever seen.

lol, i feel your pain my dear. i haven't got nearly as much as you, but i'm following the most i've ever followed thus far. and seeing your poll, i totally forgot about Down with Love =S aiya... i'll add that to my list to marathon. it's crazy that's there's so many good ones airing this season. but i'm never bored at least. there's always something to watch =P

Seeing as you're on a big older woman/younger man (and jdrama) kick plus you're really into Sunao ni Narenakute i'd recommend Over Time with Esumi Makiko and Takashi Sorimachi - you can see a minute picspam HERE.

It's very similar to PT in that the two leads have GREAT chemistry together and their relationship seems so very natural and right.

I was trying to find a MV or something but now i've been sucked into watching random MVs of classic romantic dramas lol. XD

Since out of all the dramas you're polling, "Down with Love" is winning AND the only one I've finished watching (I watched the VCD version : http://www.youtube.com/user/jiaen208#g/u). I have to tell you, as my advice, to go with another drama in catching up. Put "Down with Love" on hold and then watch it once you can marathon it. Ep. 8 IS an awesome ep., but after that, the drama starts getting drag-y, as are the tendency for twdramas.

Spoilers------> Lawrence starts getting eeeevvviiiilll!! And the ex-gf gets gratingly annoying (she will NOT let go!). Lawrence starts to be/ does a basic rehash of what Shin Dong-wook's character did in "Wish Upon a Star" for the 2nd-ary girl.... Almost exact, in many ways. The logic of it was soooo stupid that the fun of the story began to go downhill towards the end. There was also the Lawrence's mother opposition storyline that was really repetitively boring.

There was the cute storyline of ella's big sister having a guy be infatuated with her, but the story ends with them never getting together, with only the allusion of maybe they will....

So in short? I think you should wait to finish "Down with Love" once you have less on your plate. The fastforward button is VERY necessary and not worth your time for now. The drama is mostly to watch ella's funny faces, and if you can wait on that, I say do.

BUT... what you REALLY should watch, since you'll probably get a kick out of it, is the kiss between jerry and ella. One of the most elaborate ones I’ve EVER seeeeeeen!!

Am I the only one who felt really, really captivated by DWL? I practically marathoned it because I could. not. stop. watching. It was that addicting, and I only felt like fastforwarding, like, one time. Then again, Lawrence was my favorite character, so I really wanted to see how he would turn out... idk. :/

You're probably right that there's no real rush when it comes to DWL. I'm on episode 9 and I full on want to kick ex-girlfriend in the face, slap the stupid out of Ke Zhong and even Ella's character is bordering on annoying. But the one thing it has going for it are the Jerry/Ella moments - I need to stop calling the characters that, lol. I have absolutely no clue why they don't spend more time on the OTP instead of the other boring, unnecessary crap.

I don't know what it is about the recent Twdramas I've seen but what I've found is that while they've all started off well, the second halves are either boring or a total disaster. I don't know what's going on.

...And I'm rambling. Sorry. Heh.

Well DWL is ending soon, so maybe it is a good idea to marathon it when it ends (2 or 3 weeks from now).
Oh My Lady is easy to catch up cuz only MW- GH-GH`s friend(she meets MW in episode 11 LOL)- 2 little girls scenes are worth watching.
CU-I think it would be best to marathon the drama when it ends (cuz it might get frustrating otherwise), but I don`t know -important things happened in the Thursday episode this week (HS`s father died and in the preview we have EJ telling HS: “you are not the princess of this household anymore”!!!! EJ`s mom starts showing her true colors starting next week)
You totally forgot about Family Honor watchalong AGAIN- but maybe it is a wise thing not to watch FH now (when PP ends I am sure you will be eager to watch FH because of PSH)

AND since you are asking for recommendations I have to tell you about the lakorn I am watching right now (I can`t stop thinking about it and I enjoy it just as much as I enjoy PP). Yes you`ve read it correctly: LAKORN!!!!! (Just thinking about your face when you read this made me LOL)
IT IS CALLED NGAO RAK LUANG JAI (LOVE IN THE SHADOW)
As you already know most lakorns are adaptations of Thai romance novels from the 50`s, 60`s or 70`s (making a girl your personal slave is considered courtship, kidnapping is foreplay, rape is mandatory, DNA analysis does not exist, the police uses methods from the 50`s to solve a case-only a confession by the villain in the last episode is enough to make a case against him/her even though it would take 2 days to prove the villain did it if they used the current methods, parents sell their daughter into prostitution....)
Love in shadow is not an adaptation (which is obviously a good thing) but some old- fashioned elements are thrown in - no DNA analysis available, villains kill a couple of people and/or cause multiple accidents and still aren`t arrested... BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS: THERE IS NO RAPE IN THIS LAKORN.

Techit (the main lead):
He is a guy who never received love so he is not very good at expressing himself (he comes of as a jerk most of the time, but that is cuz he really has some issues with his father and a long history of jealousy with the secondary guy- but HE IS SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO BE LOVED AND WANTS TO LEARN HOW TO LOVE).
Do you remember when Eun Sung was transferred from the restaurant to the factory and Hwan caused a mess the next day –he got himself transferred to the factory cuz there was no point in working in the restaurant if ES was not there? That is exactly the way Techit is.
He is totally ADORABLE and LIKABLE (and ANGSTY- he is really good at it). And he showers a lot(LOL).
Khaohom: she is a kick ass version of a typical lakorn heroine.
Nawa :typical boring CLINGY secondary guy
The secondary girl is TRULY EVIL and Tachit can`t care less about her (it is so FUNNY and AWESOME how whenever she tries to make a move on him or tries to tell lies about Khaohom he totally straight-out insults her-he is totally not gentle about it )

My favorite scenes: When it took ten minutes for Techit to realize that Khaohom thought he raped her (the guy is totally innocent), Techit forbidding Khaohom to run away ROFL, Techit totally not yielding to his father and Techit`s idea of how Khaohom should earn her stay at his house is attending a university ROFL(she totally thought he is going to make her his personal slave-obviously the girl had seen a few lakorns herself)
If you still don`t understand why I LOVE this lakorn here is the video for the theme song (the theme song represents what this lakorn is really about- it is about Techit trying to get Khaohom to love him by trying to be a better person)

Oops , there is actually one more lakorn I would like to recommend to you . It is called Tomorrow, I will still love you. It aired in 2009. There are two main couples in here- one of the main couples is gay , the other one is irrelevant (ROFL)- I watched only the gay couple cuz the other one was a typical lakorn couple (straight, annoying, whiny and there was an a attempted rape somewhere )
What can I say about the gay couple:
Kong-he is a physical therapist. His sister was killed ( a guy tried to rape Kong`s, his wife saw them and thought that Kong`s sister was seducing him – she then killed Kong`s sister and went to jail). Kong will turn blind later in an accident and he will not want Pee `s help(ANGSTY, ANGSTY)
Phiwit(Pee)- He is a race driver (at the beginning he needs a physical therapist Cuz he got himself injured). He just came back from the States (or Canada –don`t remember). His brother is the guy who tried to rape Kong`s sister (his sister in low killed Kong`s sister).
They are very touchy with each other, they hug A LOT , there are at least 5 almost kisses ,but there is not even a single real kiss. The actors HAVE A TON OF CHEMISTRY (their almost kisses got me more excited than most kdrama kisses).

I've found the secret to managing a huge airing drama list is to keep the number of kdramas down. They are SO time consuming!!! I think I am watching 6 dramas at the moment and one of them is Harvest Villa (so fast paced and well written - the quirky drama of the season!!) and it is only 45 minutes per episode - 30 minutes less every week really helps, surprisingly. I really wish they would all be 45 minutes. Very often I find an episode that's 1:04:10 too long. LOL.

Next week Tsuki no koibito is starting too. Thank god it is a jdrama!
