Oh, the desperate way he grabs her (and drops formal speech!) when she proves, yet again, that nothing will change how giving she can be when she gives her heart.

Gae In: "To love, is to throw your pride away."
Jin Ho: "Love does not ask you to discard your pride. It's about protecting a person. Don't do this in the future. Don't believe people so easily. Don't fall in love so easily. Don't forgive easily, either. Please...become stronger."

*brb once I recover from a swoon*

You know, they make such a perfect pair - she is such a good person with such an open and giving heart and degree of sheltered unworldliness due to her upbringing, that she needs someone like him - someone who would never take advantage of that kindness and innocence and who would cherish and protect her. And he is so reserved (even repressed) that he needs someone who is so open with her heart and her warmth and her feelings - to barge past his barriers and make him feel safe to come out. And her impulsiveness and openness and immediacy is so good for him - because she pushes him not to bottle things in, to express his needs and desires.

I have gone batty for Personal Taste and I don't care who knows it. Yes, I know I am in the minority - I don't care. I adore this drama to bits!

Side note: when Jin Ho was running that hypothetical for her - "I am dating you because you look like my former lover, and sometimes I will call you by her name, or ask you to do the things she had done? Would you do it?", and she said she would - I am sick but I went OMGOMGOMGOMG I would so KILL to see that drama - dysfunctional and dark and hot as it would be. I want to see that with LMH and SYJ. Please. MMMMM. Maybe one day :)

You know, I am not insane - I won't argue this is better made than e.g. Cinderella Unni - in terms of objective quality CU clearly has PT and most other currently airing dramas beat. But in terms of emotional, personal preference (hah! worst pun ever!), I confess that by now PT has become the drama I love and am invested in the most. I can deal with flaws if I love the characters and am emotionally invested. And PT has gotten me so.

ETA: You know, this drama got really good the moment it realized that its two leads were excellent dramatic actors, much better at that than at OTT comedy, and so ditched most of the silly OTT stuff more suited to a teen jdrama in favor of subtlety and angst. And also when it realized that writing them as real relatable people is so much more effective than cutesy little setups. Once it revealed them as such - I was a goner. (In the first 4 eps the actors did their best to create reality but the writing wasn't there to support them. But then it became a whole new drama - one I could truly love).

ETA2: Holy...!!!!

ETA3: Speaking from personal experience, a guy who helps you puke is a keeper.

(I love that this is fastidious Jin Ho doing this as a matter of course).

Yes he did. I am crushing on him SO HARD. I love that after this he is thinking to himself that he knows she will never change her kindess after all and he's totally worried about her.

Have a bonus. Here he is worried about her:

YOU! YOU! Oh Lee Min Ho! * drools while knickers dropped off among other things! *

Where do I find this kind of man anyway? hahahaha!

Speaking from personal experience, a guy who helps you puke is a keeper.

Awww! From my experience, it turns out he wasn't a keeper. :(

Awww, sorry :( (I got horribly sick the night before Mr Mousie's graduation - worst ear infection ever - Mr Mousie spent the entire night before his big day helping me puke. So to me, bizarrely, this sort of thing is terribly romantic :P)

My crush on LMH has reached unhealthy proportions :P

LOLOLOL I am not alone!

I confess even though I was spoiled for the ending of ep 7 and the 'confession', I still totally screamed in shock. I could kinda alternaship that! :) I confess to giggling in a very immature fashion when Director told LMH that his heart stirred from the moment he beheld him. Him and every BOF fangirl :)

You're totally not alone!!

Episode 7-8 was just so amazing!! They totally have me... I can't wait for this weeks episodes! The way LMH takes care of her and just the smiles he gives when he thinks or sees her... *melts* One of my favorite scenes was in episode 8..

//spoiler

When she writes on his back "In the next, next, next life…come back to me as a man…who can love a woman.” GAH! D:

I just love that they are best friends before they ever get to be lovers. And he takes such good care of her and she of him! (I loved in ep 7 when he tells her she could have given him good news over the phone instead of driving all that way and she says she wanted to see his smile for herself).

I agree!!! I love how he took care of her when she got her period! Where can a girl find a guy like that?! And i love how she cooks him a big meal to try to cheer him up. <3

Perfect drama right now for my romantic needs :D
They're both such awesome actors and I love them together.
What's also surprising me is that the age difference isn't apparent at all, like it is in Oh! My Lady. Just two people that without a doubt are perfect for each other.

There's a thing I've been forgetting to ask you: What do those drama tags you're using mean? Your rating? I've been thinking and thinking about what those numbers could stand for :D

LOL, no. OK, this is going to sound really geeky but basically LJ times out your tags if you have more than a 1000 entries under a tag. I.e. if you have e.g. 1002 entries tagged 'drama', the two oldest entries with these tags will never show up - that tag has basically been nullified for them due to being maxed out. Not an issue for most people, but as I have over 2000 drama tagged entries, I have to break them out (if you look at my tags, you see them go as high as drama10 but that is because before lj maxed out at a 100 and also because I kept bad track of tags).

Yes, the age difference isn't noticeable. I can believe them to be roughly the same age.

They have so much chemistry. MMMMM.

Darn. I was so hoping PT at least would be one drama I could safely ignore. Oh well, I'll add it to the 'to be tackled later'-pile. ;)

LOLOL. I do not feel bad for you :)

Pity they didn't fix this sooner - it would have given Cinderella Unni a much tougher run for the ratings crown.

I agree, this drama has vastly improved from a horrendous start. For me, the most significant change is with Kae In. They've calmed her character down a lot. She's still quirky and horribly naive, but it seems a lot more human now. I'm not irritated with her and can much more easily relate.

I'm even warming up to Jin Ho who I found pretty boring in the beginning.

Yes, in the beginning I was all "Jin Ho, you are kinda...dull. Gae In, SHUT UP!" but now I adore them both. I looked up the writer and he/she is famous for his angsty romantic melodramas (Stairway to Heaven, Yurihwa). I don't think he/she ever did a wacky or even romcom-type drama in his/her life. So it makes so much sense that the drama got good the second it switched gears.

I'm kind of loving your PT posts because you always provide nice big caps of LMH and these posts are actually motivating me to pick this up again.

I am clearly watching for meaningful plot. Yes...plot.

Did you know the writer of this did Stairway to Heaven? LMH and SYJ will be lucky if by the end they don't discover they are stepsiblings who are both dying of eye cancer :P

Minority? How can the majority not love this drama??? This reminds me a bit of Hotaru no Hikari. I love the friendship! I love Gae In's sentiment about not wanting to waste precious minutes in seeing the person she loves by shucking her sweats, although Jin Ho is also right. Ah, this year is really gooood!

From: [identity profile] village.livejournal.com
Wheeeeee! I just finished this episode and I HEART this drama so much and I think *I'm* in the minority because I didn't think the first few episodes were all that bad. Weirdly paced, absolutely, but I never considered dropping it. Of course, that could have been entirely due to me staring at LMH the whole time...because yes, I'm crushing on him in the worst way. Hee.

I think it really hits it's stride around episode 6 though and now that I know ViiKii has it in HQ, I'll hopefully be caught up soon and I'll be able to squee along with you in real time. WHEE.
