It's planned that episode 15 will be the end of F4's time at high school and from 16 onwards the story will be about F4 as adults.

Pardon my language, but what the FUCK? Time-jumps? Frelling time-jumps? Adults? Clearly, the story is going to derail from the manga pretty horrendously for them to do that. UGH. Have they learned nothing from the disaster that was Meteor Garden 2?

UGH. This better not be true! This is totally going to kill the drama for me.

i read about that to and let out a big "WTF?!" i'm equally scared and horrified by the idea. i'm even more scared about another part of the article that subtly hinted a change in Joon Pyo's hair after episode 14. his hair should NOT be permenantly straight.

I am not too much of a hair purist (I was fine in MG when they gave him nice hair eventually) but the time jump? Horrifies me. I have also been trying to think where on earth in the storyline can they stick it? So far the only thing that comes to mind is after the rain scene, when she tells him she never loved him and goes away to fishing village. LOL, I suppose she can stay there for 4 yrs. Still absurd and wrecks the story.

Yikes. Why, Group 8, why? Also, nobody can convince me that Kim Bum can pass as a grown-up.

Well, he kind of looks older here.

But yeah, Kim Bum does have a youthful face (which will be handy to him when he's old :P), but legally, he's a twenty-year-old now (21 by Korean age).

Maybe they mean that F4 graduates after ep 15? But then, that wouldn't necessarily make them "adults", would it?

Oh god, please no time jumps or periods of unnecessary separation for our OTP. I cannot deal with that sort of shit. I just cannot.

It just makes me so unhappy. And I am trying to figure out where they'd stick the damn time jump? After the rain scene with having her go away for a long time? By taking the NY study time and sticking it in the middle of the drama? What?

They have been doing so amazingly well so far, I'll try to be like grey-fuzzy and give them the benefit of the doubt (on both the truth of the rumors and them knowing what they are doing). But it's hard!

Yes, and I'll try to not have a panic attack or go out and threaten the writers with bodily harm.

OKAY let's not freak out too much. They've done so well so far, and they have so much experience to look to, they can't manage to screw it up too badly.

It's Group 8, the people who thought it was a brilliant idea to make a sequel to Goong. An AU sequel, which had neither Shin nor Chae-Gyung, the protagonists which were the whole reason Goong was popular. *is terrified*

I was curious to see exactly what storylines the kdrama would cover, considering that they appear to be moving rather briskly (especially since they're only on episode 6 of 24). I'm not as familiar with the manga as you are, but I'm wondering if they're going to try an original plotline or something when this episode 15 twist comes around (versus an arc or two from one of the later issues of the manga, like that New York arc). Let's keep our fingers crossed it works out well?

The manga is so long (36 volume splus special one-shots) and so crammed with stuff, that even if they stuck just to manga storylines for the entire 24 ep run, they wouldn't run out of stories. I really really hope they don't go for an original story. Last time Group 8 tried to do an original take on a popular manga we got *shudder* Goong S.

Maybe they graduate in ep 15 and Junpyo becomes the CEO of Shinhwa Group (cue new haircut) while Jandi's now a year three. If there is a time lapse, I'm sure it's going to be a pretty minor one because they didn't mention anything about Jandi graduating too, did they?

That's a great idea - I didn't think about it, but F4 are a year older than she is. I would be totally fine with that! The only quibble is, don't they need to go to college first, and not take over companies right out of high school?

They could have F4 attending Shinhwa University (though I don't think they'll show any scenes from that) while starting their chaebol heir preparatory work (kind of like an internship) at their respective business alongside their parents...

I'm with some other people that I think that article meant that the boys just graduate HS and start moving into adulthood. I dunno about korea I confess but in America when you graduate HS your pretty much half way in the adult world already. that's when independence first starts for alot of young people. and I think they have a good reason for doing this. like I imagine it's gonna be a minor, they graduate and go to college/study abroad kind of thing. I dont mind if the story is changed a bit since I didnt like the way the manga handled everything but yeah I do hope they dont diverge TOO much from the source material since then it's not really HYD anymore. :(

I'm also not going to jump the gun. I have faith!

The article merely states that the they will be graduating from high school. It doesn't state anywhere that there's going to be a time jump.

And the reference to adults may just be referring to the F4 growing into adulthood. Like others have said, once you graduate from high school, you are effectively considered to be a young adult.

And I wouldn't have a problem if the various F4 proceed onto university, or go overseas. If done right, it could prove to be a very good transition tool, because after all one of Hanadan's themes is sbout growing up.

Oh dear God no. I HATE time jumps, they ruin a drama for me like nothing else. I really hope it's just a graduation, and them moving to college or something (ala HYD2).

The adaptation has been really good so far, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I like school dramas fine (I mainly watch kdramas and they almost never have any - this and Goong are the only ones I can think of) but the main thing is, if they jump too much it will screw up the story, imo.

Well, I DID think that they go with the story too quick if it's 24 episodes... and I must say, my only real bad feeling about HyD was that I never got to see a real happy end. Ok, the new, 37th volume of the manga made some change, but I still haven't seen a Tsukushi&Tsukasa marriage, and then watch a hardworking little guy protect her little curly-haired sister from a dog... *up to dreamworld again*
It can be true, that the magic of HyD is the fact that the end marks the beginning... but I would really love to watch them as a married couple.
But let's think about it a bit. They are by the gap between Rui and Tsukasa at the end of ep 6... in the manga after that Tsukasa up to NY, the beauty contest with Kin-san, then Junpei, Tsukasa's birthday & Shigeru, Tsukasa's memory loss & Umi, Amon, Yuki & Soujiro and the heart-stroke of Doumyouji papa. Did I leave something out? Oh, Makino as a maid and the saturn necklace. How I see these are the important parts.
Maybe this has something to do with the fact how old Tsukushi is? In the manga she is what~ 16~17 (and shame on you Tsukasa! I never saw you giving a present to Tsukushi, though her birthday is just about a month before yours!) but I couldn't get if the part she gets accepted in school is high-school or university. Anyway, since it's Korea, maybe they want to watch with what age the characters get married? Just a tip.

I'd seen the rumour about the hairdo change, but not this. *has to blink rapidly while digesting the information. Not, not helping* My natural instinct is to say "you bunch of morons, what are you thinking?!" But my second thought was actually high school graduation for the F4 and them moving on to the next logical step, university. And I see others on this page have had the same thought. Maybe that *is* what's going to happen, and I guess that if the university and the high school are on the same campus it's not such a big deal.
If it's not graduation they're talking about, then I'm a bit puzzled. I have been wondering where the Macau visit fits in. Hmm. If they're keeping on at the same pace they are now, they'll be at about volumes 14-18 of the manga - which is Junpei, birthday, Kaede, Shigeru? Or maybe they are going to do the 4-year thing after Papa Doumyouji collapses, and resume the story afterwards... Now I'm feeling dubious again!
As for the hair: I didn't mind when they got rid of Dao Ming Si's fugly scruffy spikey do, because it was dreadful; and Matsujun's hair never looked good throughout Hanadan anyway. But I will be cross if they lose Jun-pyo's curls; they suit him :-(.

Shigeru appears in ep 13, apparently, so your pacing guess seems to be on.

I don't mind the curls-losing. They look fine but he looks even hotter with straight hair, imo.

I'll be very sad if that turns out to be true - I don't mind time jumps when they're done well, but I feel it will ruin the (thus far) excellent pacing of the series.

That said, if they do do a time jump, I'll be stoked, because it means Jun Pyo will get glasses. That seems to be the post-time jump thing, anyway. (See also: My Girl, Delightful Girl Choon Hyang). ♥

I don't really hate the idea, time jumps can be done well, in Delightful Girl Choon Hyang it made the main guy hot and the Year In Baltar's Hair did a lot to further BSG. I liked that in MG the characters were aged up and in university as it imo suited the storyline better so I think I'll take a wait and see approach to this one. BOF works really well when it puts it's own spin on manga events or disregards it completely.

I guess the big question is if tptb are going for a time jump where in the storyline are they going to make the break? Will it be like East of Eden's time jumps where the only thing that changes are peoples ages and hair or a Desperate Housewives one where things really do change.

It's weird I've just been to Scoompi and they're not freaking out about this.

Time jumps will be confusing to people who don't know the storyline, whether be it from the Japanese or Taiwanese drama, the anime, or the manga itself.
