dangermousieFirst off, may I recommend Krakatoa: The Day the World Exploded: August 27, 1883 by Simon Winchester, which is a book about the enormous Krakatoa volcanic eruption but placed in geographic and historical context of the region. It's pretty unputdownable.
In drama news, here is the pre-school F4. No prizes for guessing which one is Jun Pyo :)

I couldn't care less about Ji Hoo (BORING!) but it's a pretty scene.

That hasn't worked for any secondary male in any kdrama ever, so I wouldn't worry, Jun Pyo.
Not related to the cap at all, but I like how in this version, they kept the essential negative Domyouji characteristics: arrogance, childishness, thickheadedness, propensity for violence, but they made them somehow more realistic than in J-Hanadan where Matsujun was more of a cartoon, and that makes sense because Jun Pyo is a chaebol heir. Whatever his flaws, he has to be able to believable behave as one.
mmm. Yummy angst and forced almost kissing is yummy.
Hasn't she seen Goong? Doesn't she know that when a screwed-up hottie tries to force-kiss you, it means he's in love :P
This looks like a still from a vampire movie.
To get back to our regularly scheduled mauling.
Don't feel bad, Jun Pyo! There seem to be plenty of soompiers willing to take up Jandi's slack :)

Nope, he is still boring. I guess we couldn't expect lighting strike three times (Vic Zhou, Oguri Shun and now him) but still...
Jandi is also unimpressed by his acting (ok, ok, I'll stop piling on Hyun Joong, I promise).
This whole sequence is too awesome and needs no comment. Isn't this the first time he 'rescues' her? From an awkward social situation and humiliation this time, but it's going to get to be a habit with him :P
I love their bickering about exactly how much of his life debt he's repaid by this action!
FAVORITE SCENE OF THE EP. He's bought out the bar so she can rail in peace.

Yup, she smacks him. Again. And he is very amused. I am beginning to get an inkling of Jun Pyo's *ahem* preferences about being smacked around :P Seriously though, I just love how he is so happy to be spending time with her alone, even if she is drunk and maudlin about Ji Hoo and smacks him :D
And then she throws up on him. LOL. And passes out and wakes up thusly.
Yup, she is in Jun Pyo's bed and in his pajamas. I wonder who changed her, they leave it kinda vague :)
And guess who has been "nonchalantly" waiting for her to wake up.
Evil Mom! I love her for her tremendous angst-giving potential!
Ahahah.
Did I mention that he calls his Mom "Evil Hag?"
Date him! He can buy you expensive goggles you crave! Even if he has no graces about it at all :)

Date: 2009-01-16 10:41 pm (UTC)Lee Min-ho's version of the character seems to have the flaws of the original character (not that I've read the manga much) but is less sadistic than I remember jdrama-Domyouji being and less dorky than Jerry Yan's Dao Ming Shi (but still appropriately dorky). He is love.
Edit: Kim Bum does look v.v.v.v. young and has therefore a weird look for a ladykiller of character but .. I still adore him! And the scene with him and Jandi's friend (Gaeul?) was so cute.

LOL! Poor Hyung Joon. I don't think he's so much wooden than scared stiff. The weight of the role and need to do well seem to be so heavy on him that it's making him totally unable to act at all. He really needs to loosen up and start enjoying what he's doing as it pretty obvious he isn't. Especially as the vibe from the rest of the gang is that they are having the time of their lives.
