I screamed. A kiss? In a sageuk? OMGOMGOMG. Not to mention it's Muhyul/Yeon whom I ship like a mad mad MAD person. Oh, Kingdom of the Winds continue to be awesome! Did I mention it's his wedding night? To another woman, whom he had to arrange-marry for the sake of the Kingdom? Because he can never have Yeon, who is an enemy Princess even if he loved her since he was a slave and she rescued him from torture? And they used to go on deadly ninja missions together and save each other's lives and he promised to protect her forever? And here he is, spending his wedding night with Yeon instead of his wife? OMGOMGOMGOMG. Korea >>>>>> everything.

I think Tsukasa buys Makino clothes for the trip, which hopefully explains that godawful outfit. I could be wrong it's been a while since I've read the manga.

I'm looking forward to this so much. I heard that Yuki/Soujiro would be getting a "fresh" story this time around, so hopefully they get to be the "fun secondary OTP" that usually comes with kdrama.

Also - did you hear that the show has been pushed back again. It's now airing in early January. :(

I wonder why they keep pushing it back? I believe it is taking the place of a show that is doing poorly in the ratings, so you'd think they'd want to get that off the air sooner. :/



I skimmed the first episode last night, and as you said it is mostly backstory. But then, in most historial/wuxia shows the first two or three episodes are backstory filler that will just be explained again later. I usually skim them.

I was very very iffy on this at first, but now I'm getting excited about it.

I've only seen the Japanese version. I downloaded the first few episodes of the Taiwan version but the acting was so bad that I couldn't continue. Did you like it?

I enjoyed the tw version but I like silly cheesy things and bad acting (I agree they weren't geniuses, though they improve as the drama goes on) doesn't bug me :)

I'm starting to get a tiny bit excited about the Korean version of HYD. It would appear they are sticking more closely to the manga than the Japanese drama. That arc with Doumyouji and Makino going to the beach and being their usual bullheaded selves is epic in the manga. Hope they do the Amon storyline. And the part with Umi.

I'm hoping they'll combine the virtues of the two very different live action versions (the Taiwanese faithfulness to the storyline and characterisation; the Japanese budget and energy) and we'll get the best of both worlds! It's funny how happy all the production photos I've seen have made me; everyone looks really good, despite (or maybe because of?) the questionable fashions ;-).

Hmm, the manga had some god-awful outfits, now that I think about it. And I shudder to think of what the Tw-drama version would have done if they hadn't been on a shoestring budget - I think that's probably the only thing that saved us from a steady stream of hideous clothes instead of a few bad outfits (that shiny gold shirt thing, the headbands... shudder! But that was probably it, really. The pineapple hair doesn't count as 'fashion' ;-).
