OTP derby

So, year 2009 has been very good for me OTP-wise, providing many a drama OTP for me to swoon over.

But let's see how I did in the "happy ending for the OTP" stakes - do I go for the tragic ones that break my heart or fluffiness?



1. East of Eden, Dong Chul/Grace - TRAGIC. He dies.

2. East of Eden, Dong Wook/Ji Hyun - TRAGIC. They never get a chance to be together.

3. Boys Over Flowers, Yi Jung/Ga Eul - HAPPY. He comes back for her.

4. Boys Over Flowers - Ji Hoo/Jandi - TRAGIC. They are uncanon.

5. Smile, Hana/Bito - HAPPY. He gets out of prison and finds her.

6. Love Shuffle, Ojiro/Kairi - HAPPY. They are off to a war zone together to be awesome and hot and insane.

7. Love Shuffle, Kei/Airu - HAPPY. They finally get together.

8. Black & White, Zai Tian/Burger Girl - TRAGIC. You bet. (or alternatively for a secondary ship - Muhyul's Brother and his Quasi-Older-Sis in KOTW - TRAGIC too).

9. Black & White, Chen Lin/Zai Tian - HAPPY. They are really into each other and find out they are not siblings after all. I bet make-outs will ensue.

10. ToGetHer, Mars/Momo - HAPPY. They end up together.

11. Princess Ja Myung Go, Jamyung/Hodong - TRAGIC. They sort of kill each other via a mutual suicide pact.

12. Return of Iljimae, Iljimae/Dal Yi - TRAGIC. He is forced to watch her execution.

13. Queen Seon Deok, Deokman/Bidam - TRAGIC. He is executed and she dies.

14. Kingdom of the Winds, Yeon/Muhyul - TRAGIC. She dies in his arms.

15. IRIS, Hyun Joon/Seung Hee - TRAGIC. I can't even type it out.

16. City Hall, Jo Gook/Mirae - HAPPY. They get married.

17. Brilliant Legacy, Hwan/Eun Sung - HAPPY. They get together etc.

18. Cain & Abel, Cho In/Young Jin - HAPPY. Finally.

19. Tamra the Island, Park Kyu/Beo Jin - HAPPY. They end up together on Tamra.

20. Swallow the Sun, Soo Hyun/Jung Woo - HAPPY. Thank God.

LOL so true!!! they still bother me- I grieve more for their lack of reality/conclusion than I do for many an OTP who actually dies.I will only start to forgive TPTB once I see Kim Hyun Joong get the girl in another dram(NOT Kimi wa Petto)

Ji Hoo/Jandi - TRAGIC. They are uncanon. I don't buy it since I think they were never meant to be together. Jandi Junpyo were meant to be together and thats what happens!

I just think that Ji Hoo was never more then a friend of Jandi and JunPyo really loves her! Ji Hoo was more like a big brother...

I just found myself rooting for Jandi and JunPyo from the very start, there was something about Ji Hoo that OI found way to I am not even suire of the word, I think he was ntoo pretty. Plus I like when characters change for the better and that describes JunPyo excatly

Thanks for the list. I'm only for happy ending. Tragic endings bring me down for (at least)a week... Avoid them like the plague... which is tragic for I miss good stories...

By the way, you can finish Tamra on Viikii (the episodes are OK from episode 11)

I've decided I have a gigantic girlcrush on Sung Yuri, and when I poked through her dramawiki page Swallow the Sun came up, and naturally I ran to your lj to check your thoughts on it! (You're my go-to with kdramas, I always look through your tags to see if you've watched something or not!)

What's it like as a series? The summary seems a bit long-winded and all I got was Sung Yuri is beautiful and ends up with some guy also Lee Wan gets shafted? I really don't know what I should watch next, I'm halfway through the first episode of Hello! Miss but it hasn't grabbed me, I think I need something a bit meatier. *dithers*

Awww, flattered. I did not finish it (got sidetracked) but I really liked what I saw.

It's sort of a better put-together Lobbyist (which I liked in of itself) - gun-running, tough guys, tough gals etc. It has a lot of plot. It's definitely on my 'get back to' list. I have a huge love for Ji Sung (the male lead) btw - gave you ever watched Save the Last Dance for me? It's about my favorite classic melodrama with a happy ending.

I think I need to rephrase that. Not that I don't care about these two - more like I am so pissed at them I can barely empathize with them.

I understand why Ji Hyun turned out like that but what I could not stand is her taking side with Shin Tae Hwan most of the time. Geez! He's like the root of all the problems and you can still find it in yourself to live in the same house with him...even though she is doing it for the sake of her son's future, I just could not get it.

Fine. I will work for him but to actually live in the same house and share the same principles with him - UGH!

As for DW, well - we all know how he turned out in the end,right?
