Is it me or did the music in this ep become actually good? Oh, and I confess this is the first time I got misty during BOF - at Jandi's despair at finding out about not being able to swim competively. Her one special thing just got taken from her and all for a worthless jerk.

Also - a confession: I switched ships. Yup, am Ji Hoo/Jandi now. Part of it is my rage at Jun Pyo (see rant below) but another is that Ji Hoo is just so amazing. He takes such good selfless care of Jandi, and he is always there for her unobtrusively, and an awesome friend. It's funny, I never shipped Rui/Makino in any version, not even Hanadan2, where I came closest. But here I can't help it - Ji Hoo is just so darn amazing. Saving your life or not, when your bf doesn't contact you for half a year, it's time to move on, Jandi! Ji Hoo is right there - gorgeous and steady and so incredibly good to you, not to mention someone with whom you bond on a whole different level. I mean, forget boyfriend, I'd kill for a friend like that.



Oh, and yeah, as I mentioned in sodahands' lj (this rant is in large part taken from my comment to her): I want Jun Pyo to go DIAF now. He chases her and chases her and as soon as she 'gives in' he just ditches? WTF!!!! I don't care if he has the best reason in the world and his ignoring her point blank is going to save puppies and bring about world peace - you do not do that sort of thing if you claim to have any feelings at all. Not without a word of explanation, not when she spent any money she even plans to have in the next year or whatever for a freaking plane ticket. Yeah, she spent her hard-earned money to visit her "wonderful" boyfriend - who left her a mash note with "I love you's" and then disappeared without a word for half a year. Some prize he is!

Oh, and did I mention she had to give up the one thing she wanted to do with her life because of getting hurt FREAKING PROTECTING the jerk? DIEEEEEEEEE. I am beginning to wish Haje did make him a freaking cripple.

I am so wishing she just gives up and dates Ji Hoo - he is also gorgeous and rich but unlike her flake of a bf he is always there for her. And I want Jun Pyo to grovel and grovel and suffer and Jandi to still ignore him and date Ji Hoo in his face. UGH. DIE.

I am usually more tolerant of jerkfaces in dramas than most people but occasionally I get rageful - it's very relaxing.

Seriously, so much epic hate! I didn't feel nearly that much in Hanadan2 maybe because poor Matsujun looked so desperate and not cold like that - he never cut her dead.

That scene in new York in HYD2 is actually one of my all time favorite: all that gorgeous shock and longing. But here, there is something, too, but he is so much more in control of himself that I want to claw his eyes out. I seriously will be mad if she takes him back as soon as he makes a move. No way!

It's like - ugh! I mean, there was a split second of startled vulnerability when he saw her but then he just cut her dead. In Hanadan2, matsujun's version always was more emotionally transparent and so I didn't hate him anywhere as much - in fact their meet-up in NYC is one of my favorite things - you saw his total shock and how it was killing him not to just grab her and hold on. But JP is a lot more self contained and I want to stab him!

Yeah the plus in HanaDan is that you could see that MatsuJun was just as upset, I remember hating Doumyouji in the manga though, so I guess I should have expected this

I've never shipped Rui/Makino either but I'm getting very close. They've done away with Rui ambiguity completely in Ji Hoo, he's always had strong feeling for Jan Di but stepped aside once it was obvious she had fallen for Jun Pyo and he's been silently in love with her ever since. Gorgeous male angsting from afar has always been one of my kinks but I thought I was safe here due to KGH's 'acting' earlier in the series, oh how wrong I was.

I'm fangirling endlessly about the Yi Jeong/Ga Eul hankie moment it was such a boyfriend thing to do.

Yeah, the whole slowly falling for her but never letting her know and helping her and his friend? So YUM. And I don't know what was with KHJ in those first few eps. I thought it was because he loosened up on the job that he got so good, but he is good in the Macau scenes and they were filmed first, so why? Maybe it's the script - I remember dramabeans posting some script exerpts and they would literally say things like 'Ji Hoo stares blankly' or whatever. Now, a veteran actor may be able to overcome such bizarre lack of directing but KHJ is a newbie.

I would so jump ship if I could like Ji Hoo. But I still want Jandi to date him as revenge and if they can live happily ever after while causing Jun Pyo some epic suffering and angst and regret then that's totally fine with me. Yeah, no explanation will work - whatever his reasons (whether as in the manga, he made a deal with Mommy or something else), it doesn't matter - he can give his reasons to Jandi!

In hyd2, I was a bit more sympathetic, because they gave him such a personal reason which also fucked him up, but even there I needed a lot of misery and grovelling before I could overlook it. Here? UGH.

I've shipped Rui/Makino in all the other versions and it broke my heart. I was happy with this version because I actually started off shipping Junpyp/Jandi. I still had a soft spot for Ji Hoo but this turn in the drama is bringing out my Rui/Makino ship and I can't handle it. Not another version of unrequited RUi love. Someone kill me! (Although I enjoy stories like this...teeheehee...okay, I admit it, I like this turn but just slightly less so because I know that they will never end up together and rui will end up alone...sigh).

I'm confused...I thought in the source material the whole reason doumyoji didnt contact tsukushi when he got sent away overseas was because his mother blocked her attempts to contact him, and he got discouraged or something. I dunno I forget XD But i remember the lack of contact between the two not being either one's fault but related to outside powers. which caused alot of misunderstandings for a while, but did they change that in BOF? I havent seen ep 13 yet. Oh I just checked up thread, it was cause he made a deal with his mom in the manga. oh yeaaah XD *hasnt read the manga in five years* Man I havent seen it but it sounds like pyo was super awful to jan di o_o I mean the only thing could be that he was told another horrible lie about her but in that case why does he STILL doubt her? weird. I guess we'll find out what his deal is tomorrow.

OH GOD I LOVE YOU. Especially for the blurb pics.
"am Ji Hoo/Jandi now" - Finally!! I also begin with shipping the Ji Hoo/Jandi characters in HYD, but usually end up giving in to the Domyouji pairing just because he loves her so madly. But not in this one. For one thing, Ji Hoo's character is about ten times more functional, caring, strong, and put-together than in any of the other adaptations, which combines with the fact that Kim Hyun Joong is just as eerily gorgeous/charismatic as Vic Zhou and Oguri Shun were to make him the best Ji-Hoo so far, and definitely the best catch of the three. For another thing, Min-Ho's portrayal of Jun-pyo is not selling me, I think because of his acting though it could be the way the drama is written as well. He's just not getting me to the heart like Jun and even Jerry Yan did. I'm not convinced that his love alone is worth all the terrible things Jandi has to put up with as a result of him being in her life. And this is all before I've even seen the latest episode! (not subbed yet).

Plus, in this one, Jandi gets such gratuitous Ji-Hoo time all the time; if I wasn't already well-inured to their pairing because of hte other dramas, I would SO FURIOUS at the writers when they didn't eventually end up together. They're so amazing together. Ji-Hoo takes such better care of her than Jun-pyo does. Junpyo is so wrapped in his little wealthy cocooned world that he never actually knows what’s going on with Jandi or her world; it’s always Ji-Hoo that is watching her, looking out for her, knowing when she’s sick and buying her medicine, knowing when someone tried to kill her and investigating it/telling her it wasn’t Junpyo, even cooking her pancakes so they can have a cosy little breakfast together(tell me that that scene is a "friends" scene!!)

Gah. it's enough to make anyone Ji-Hoo lover's soul shrivel up and die. :(

and I haven't seen seen the lastest episode yet. I can't wait. *groan*

I...I...all I can think is that this is my opinion on the guys half the time in modern kdramas (like, not half the guys, but for at least half of most kdramas) and shoujo, and it's nice to see someone else saying it.
