Yes, many still have not forgiven poor Whedon to the whole "Angel fiasco". My arguement is why make a couple be "the star crossed perfect lovers" and them have them move on and end up with other people.
The whole thing ended up undermining the Buffy/Angel mythology on the whole, which is only why I like the show up until season 4. I love the Buffy/Angel angst (and this was back before Angel decided that he needed to save the world by eating their supply of pecan twirls and Twinkies) and I love snarky, hateful, but still ultra cool Spike. So much better then than when he turned into a whipped puppy.
