Personal Taste - so it does get better!

I thought eps 1-4 of Personal Taste were rough. Really, really rough. To be honest, if it wasn't for the fact of my big Lee Min Ho crush and innate stubborness, I probably wouldn't have persevered with the drama.

Eps five and six got much better (though the pacing is still weird - their director/editor need serious help), mainly because the two main characters finally warmed up to each other and also because the drama got a little bit more serious. Our leading lady, Son Ye Jin, is not equipped for comedy at all but she is excellent at drama. And as for Lee Min Ho, he was hilarious in Boys Over Flowers but it's hard to be hilarious or even noticeable when you are playing a straight man (harhar pun) to the wacky heroine whose actress does not do wacky well. He emotes beautifully though, so the serious scenes are best for him, as well.

Also, all the stuff I learned about ep 7 made me extra-gleeful mainly because I am beyond amused at the Director asking LMH out. Said Director is totally the guy he needs to win over in order to get his architecture project! Heeeee. Soompiers are all appalled Director asks him out because the guy is old enough to be his father but come on - powerful straight men date girls young enough to be their daughters all the time and, let's face it, I think many a gay man would think he hit the jackpot if he found out someone as hot as LMH was gay :P Also, Director is quite attractive in a Distinguished Older Gentleman way:



Nice to know heroine's ex, in addition to all his other charms, is a gay-basher. Does not surprise me. I think except for pacing that is my biggest problem with this drama - I find her ex and the cheating former best friend really really boring and too much of the drama is dedicated to them. Yeah, they are hateful and shallow but honestly, I don't mind that - I mind that they are really really boring. Oh well, I am slowly warming up to the heroine so that's good - probably because she's finally beginning to balance niceness with spine. Though she is going to be hella mad to find out the guy she slept in the same bed with and who dealt with her periods and saw her naked is not gay after all. I cannot wait!

I really wish Lee Min Ho would just pick a straight-up melodrama for his next one - I always like him best in serious/angsty scenes anyway and he sort of has this intense vibe which would work for them excellently. Romcoms, not as much - he doesn't have the easy relaxed charm for one in place yet (compare him with Park Shi Hoo in Prosecutor Princess. PSH is playing a character who should, by all rights, be giving me all sorts of warning signs if not outright creeps, but he is so effortlessly charming I swoon instead).

I mean, I loved his childish, ridiculous Gu Jun Pyo in BOF but his scenes I remember best from it are the angsty ones.

I get the feeling that LMH's kind of going through the trendy popular romance type stuff in his career but (hopefully) will start to pick more angsty driven roles in the future.

Strangely, he reminds me of Kimura (it's the hair lol) and he does have the potential i think to be very similar (says me who's seen like 4 Korean actors only) but like i said, it's the role that defines him.

I'm hoping that now the 2 lead characters in PT have warmed up to one another and are moving towards co-dependency we'll get more angst. And Director hits on LMH? Oh, why am i not surprised? XDXD

It kinda says how sad i am but i actually ffed the episodes after 3 just to see what's gonna happen and i understood NOTHING (in comparison to jdramas where i can get about 60% of what's being said) but i was happy to see the angst beginning to happen.

I'm still pissed about how much time we get on shitty ex and bitchy ex best friend - i don't like them and seeing more of them just increases my rage for them. GIVE ME SLASH HAPPY BFF INSTEAD!

I DO and i'm shocked you've not tried to watch Hoshi no Kinka 'cos the angst in that is off the scale but in a weird good way. And coming from me that is a big thing. XD

See, i don't mind the ex-es if they're around causing angst for LMH and SYJ but when it's just them? They can go and DIAF. Together. ¬_____¬

I'm still only going to watch PT when it's all done and I have some actual time (I watch two eps of CS a week but then I spent about ten hours dissecting it with the flist, so it pretty much eats up all my drama-watching time!) but I'm glad to hear it's getting better. I was worried when I heard the heroine was flighty and useless, but if she's growing a spine I'm less concerned.

She is getting better. I don't think she'll ever have a spine of steel but she isn't making me cringe any more the way she did in the early eps. It's not a bad drama even if not a masterpiece.

Raine Yang is one of my all time favorate actresses. I think its imposisble to watch her and not fall in love with her. She can act, which is a good thing, and she is probably one of the cutest people on the planet. Plsu she is an amazing singer. OH yes , she is funny

I finsihed " What Planet are You From" last night and I absolutly loved the ending. A lot of the reviews I read said that the ending was a surprise, but it couldn't have ended up any other way. I head the Jung Ryu Won's lastest drama was not that good.

I am going to finsh ToGetHer" in a day or so and then watch "You are Beautiful" thats looks a a great time!
