Mmmm, Amidala's dress sense progresses. Being Mrs. Evil surely agrees with her.

This dress is mixture of medieval and Regency, and shockingly it works. Plus, going for the Dark Side is doing wonders for Anakin's hairstyle. He is quite hot (ooops, that slipped out. Puts inner 12-year-old back in cage):

So, not to actually turn attention away from costumes to the plot, but why exactly does Anakin turn to the dark side? (Or should I have capitalized that?)

Heh. Nobody knows yet, but he is kinda slipping in Ep 2 (massacres a village, disobeys orders etc). I think it will be a combo of:
a. his arrogance
b. his blind faith in Palpatine who will become evil Emperor (way to pick a father figure!)
c. The fact that he is young and impatient and politically naive (and so thinks dictatorship might cut through beaurocracy) and
d. something horrible and personal happening to Padme. He went psycho when his mother died in his arms, if something happens to Padme, the Dark-Lord-with-Abandonment-Issues will totally snap :D

But who knows. It has to be something drastic.

OTOH, is there any evidence that the lady Leia remembers as Mom is Padme? After all, she clearly remembers "Dad" i.e. Mr. Organa, who is not her real father. Maybe the lady she remembers as Mom is her adopted mother, same as Bail is her adopted father?

It's a possibility...but why would Lucas have worked so hard to convince his audience that Leia's real mother was also Luke's...

Never mind. I used Lucas and discussed plot. I think that answers the question right there.

I didn't explain myself well.

Luke and Leia's real birth mother IS Padme. However, hypothetically, the sequence of events can go like this:

1. Padme gives birth to Luke and Leia and dies
2. Luke is taken to Tatooine by Obi-Wan (or someone else)
3. Leia is given to Bail Organa and Mrs. Bail. She belives they are her real parents. Mrs. Bail (i.e. the woman Leia thinks is her Birth mother) dies when Leia is young. That is who Leia remembers as Mum.
4. By the end of RotJ, Luke and Leia know the identity of Daddy. But I don't remember them knowing the fact that their Mum was named Padme. For all they know, Mrs. Bail was actually the Mother, and they are the offspring of Mrs Bail and Vader or someone else and Vader. Basically, Leia has no way to verify the Mom she remembers is Padme or someone else and what her real relation to Vader (adopted mom to his daughter, or real wife) was.

Of course, this all assumes that she dies in childbirth, which I have no clue will happen or not. It's just if she is alive, I can't imagine her:
a. deserting Anakin so completely as opposed to her trying to bring him back (large scale version of her doing so after the tribe massacre)
b. Letting her son be taken away.

What about the whole choosing to do it so Anakin wouldn't find them in the first place?

Not to mention the whole timeline issue. If he didn't know she was pregnant when he left, how does this simultaneous Dark Jediness and..

I'm really thinking far too much into this. I am. I think I"m going to clear my mind of questions. Nothing like changing diapers to do that!

OK, now my mind is officially boggled :)

Maybe he did know she was pregant, and she died in childbirth and the jedis took the kids and hid them (or said they were dead) because they thought he was too Palpatine-friendly and that made him even less happy. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Hmmm, leather. My favorite TV character ever, John Crichton from Farscape is clad in leather head to toe, so I am partial. But barring that, if you go from pale white to black leather, then either you are turning to the dark side, or are becoming a Goth.
