I am going to check out VM. So, what is the general plot? Does anyone have any links? Also, what are the canon ships? Just so I'd know what to root for and what to avoid (I've always been a canon Nazi, so on UC ships for me :))

And is there angst? Girl angst is OK, but I am a lot more interested in boy angst :P

Also, any hot men? For I am shallow....

Hot guys...I personally think that Logan Echolls is hot, but there are those that would disagree. Even if the men aren't hot, though, they will woo with their character development and acting ability.

Canon ships are, at the moment, largely non-existent. There will be a love triangle season two consisting of Veronica Mars/Logan Echolls/Duncan Kane.
Keith Mars/Wallace's mom (not sure of her name)is I think still canon.
Still, you never know what could happen.

I know half the people on my flist are Veronica/Logan shippers, but I wasn't sure if it was a canon ship (the way BSG has a huge amount of Kara/Lee shippers but that ship has yet to set sail). I looked at the cast pic, and so far I found Duncan isn't bad, and "Leo" whoever he is is kinda hot. Logan? Not so much, but maybe he has a fabulous character. He's got to have something to be one half of a really popular ship :P

Oh, it was canon alright. Kind of randomly, too. All of a sudden they start making out...not that I'm complaining or anything.
Logan has a really well drawn character, though his character itself isn't that great. He and Veronica, in my opinion, have fantastic chemistry. They hate each other, they love each other, they break up with each other due to illegal date rape drugs or murders...
Leo? He is out of the picture. Veronica dumped him for Logan. :)

The basic plot arc last season was that Veronica's best friend (a fairly trampy and psychotic girl) was killed and Veronica is trying to find the killer.

The big triangle is between Veronica's ex (who happens to be the dead friend's brother), her big first love and Logan (who happens to be the dead friend's ex). The big fandom preference is towards Veronica/Logan (usually refered to as LoVe). Since I have a deeply seated dislike for too popular ships, I don't like them. But knowing our big differences in taste they might be right up your alley. Veronica/Ducan (her ex) is pretty angsty as well.

There is lots of big drama from "Your daddy tried to kill me." to almost incest, to potential date rape.

Some of the twists sound almost soap opera like, but the writing is actually extremely tight. Much better than on Roswell for example (Roswell, to me, was a well meant show. Veronica Mars is a smart show).

Personally I'm for Veronica/Duncan all the way. Probably mostly because Logan/Veronica just annoy me. Plus, I have a soft spot for first loves. Secretly, I actually want her to have a one night stand with her faithful friend and sidekick guy. But I think I'm pretty much the only person in the whole fandom who would enjoy that.

Either way, lots of angst is a given. Lots of "Argh!! I must push her away! My life sucks!", too.

If you like Duncan, as far as I remember lots of Duncan/Veronica is in the very first episodes as their back stories are explained. Then Logan comes a bit to the forefront, but the start of next season looks (with the mystery of the dead sister/friend being uncovered) like Duncan is back in the game.

If he isn't, I am all for the ship with the most chemistry and angst, so will have to see...

The thing is, I can't get really involved into something if I don't know how it ends shipper-wise (if there is shipping). I don't deal well with uncertainty :P

I hear good things about Veronica Mars. The series I'm starting to work on are Stargate Atlantis and House. Half of my FList are House fans.

Also from this season, I'm hooked on Prison Break, Bones, Supernatural and Reunion. David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel just shock me with how much chemistry they have on Bones. Everytime they're on the screen together (bickering normally) you just want him to haul her off to bed with him. Great pairing there.

I like Bones too. Love the interaction between DB's character and the Bones lady.

Lots of people are complaining about the show being too unrealistic, but so far I'm mildy entertained (mostly because of the quirky characters).

Uh, the sniper angst. Boreanaz is always better when he has something to angst over. I love that he's sort of a "reformed badass" on the show. I also love that he's the more sensitive, open one of the two of them and that he's always sticking up for her behind her back. No matter how much he might let her have it to her face, he obviously respects her and cares about her.

I loved Boreanaz on season 1-2 on Buffy (especially season 2). Thought he was such a hottie. He gained a lot of weight when he went to Angel and he also lost his strong female lead. He is a great actor when he has a strong female lead, but when he doesn't, he's pretty mediocre. Deschanel is just the lead he needs on Bones. She's mouthy, forceful and gives him someone great to bicker with. He's also a great "white knight" of a damsel who would never admit she was in distress.

Well I and the two people I've managed to convert so far went through the same thing which is that we were ho hum 'it's ok but not great' at the start, but in the end, the writing of the characters, their dialogue and the acting is terrific. Joss Whedon is guesting this season and loves the show. I got sucked in so badly I found myself writing geekily detailed 'scene commentaries' for the website Something.Happens.

I hope you like it. There is much angst and given that I absolutely loathed Logan for a very long time, I'm quite surprised at myself. Most Logan Lovers converted a lot earlier but I really disliked him until very very late in the piece. Then I was kind of. Gone. Duncan's cute but I see him as the Poor Man's Shane West. Also, all of them are far too young for me :)

Anyway, I am planning on writing a S1 summary later this week, but a little bird told me the S2 premiere is actually very easy to follow even if you haven't seen S1, so don't sweat it. I am going to watch S2 premiere and see how I like it. I don't have to really know everything in S1. I am the girl who got into Farscape by watching the S3 finale. If there is angst, I am in :)
