dangermousieThere is only one Bollywood movie I am excited for this year - and that is Mani Ratnam's Raavan.
Mani Ratnam is probably my favorite Indian director - I've seen both his Bollywood and Tamil movies and they are all uniformly amazing - often brutal, always passionate, and having so much to say. I would watch a Mani Ratnam movie if it was about making paper cups and starring monkeys.
When that movie stars Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and Vikram (for the Bollywood version) and Vikram, Aishwarya, and No Idea Who (for the Tamil version)* and is a modern take on Ramayana - with the virtuous wife of a hero kidnapped by a thug for revenge - and possibly in this take falling for the thug? I am so there.
* Just as with Yuva, Mani Ratnam was filming two versions of a movie simultaneously - the Bollywood one and the Tamil one. While Aishwarya is the heroine in both, the rest of the cast is somewhat different. Even when they intersect as in case of Vikram - he plays the Rama character in the Bollywood version but Ravana in the Tamil one.
And finally we have a tiny teeny teaser!

I am more pumped than previously (and I was pretty damned pumped before - I mean Abhi & Vikram are both HUGE favourites). The music sounds crazygreat, too.
Mmmm. The Tamil Ram is an actor called Prithviraj. Haven't actually seen him in anything but knowing Mani Ratnam it's a good casting. I am so anticipating seeing Vikram in both the "good" role and the "bad" role.
And this Abhishek performance looks to be even better than in Guru and that's saying a LOT.

Yeah, I'm really excited :D.
