My Bollywood Guilty Pleasure: Zayed Khan
Sep. 20th, 2005 06:19 pmOK, I have to admit. I have a Bolly guilty pleasure. His name is Zayed Khan.
Tell Bolly fans that you love Shahrukh, Hrithik, Salman, Abhishek, they are unlikely to react with a start of surprise. Mention Zayed, and the reaction is either "who?" or "why on earth?" Yet, I think Zayed Khan is hot and charming.
Having a thing for Zayed makes me quite a rarity, if the Bolly board I belong to is any example. It's not that he has tons of haters, it's just nobody seems to care one way or another. But I think he is quite hot, though unlikely to make either John Abraham or Arjun Rampal relinquish "the best looking man in BW" tag, and he is a decent actor, though I doubt he'll make SRK tremble or Big B cower in dismay.
It was like at first sight when he appeared on the screen of the delightful Main Hoon Na, ratty long hair, tattered clothes, and a cocky grin, and burst into the first musical number of the movie. He played a rebellious but good at heart younger brother of Shahrukh Khan and I adored him. I knew guys like that in college. Then I saw him in Vaada. He was dreadfully cute if you got over the fact that he was a psycho that basically hounded the poor heroine to death. And my love was completed when I saw Dus the other day, where he played a goofy bomb expert angstily in love with Dia Mirza.
Here's the pictorial proof I am not wholly insane. Or maybe that I am:
See, he's buff:

And can do a broody romantic pose in black sexy shirts (why would Ash in Shabd ditch him for Sanjay Dutt makes no sense to me):

And feeds my oral fixation:

And has a lovely smile:

And he flirts with Ash:

And has stubble:

He has a cute wave:

And sometimes wears no shirt at all:

Or sticks his tongue out:

Has a penchant for cars:

And doesn't mind posing for sexy pictures:

Or wearing funny hats and makeup:

Or grinning up at women:

Even if he decided to be a cannibal and munch of Kareena Kapoor:

He has the good taste to hug Abhishek Bachchan:

And make Ash laugh:

Has loooong legs:

Which he uses :D

And killer sunglasses:

And hair gel that is unthreatened by water:

Even if he splashes himself:

And people make nice sigs of him:

And can be a good psycho (all right, all right, I am reaching):

Date: 2005-09-21 05:27 am (UTC)I hated him in MHN (both the look and the acting) even though normally the shaggy punk look would totally be up my alley. Found him a-ok in Shabd (love the part where he climbs the tower, and that cute and dorky cast on his arm!) and Vaada (where I totally would have ditched Arjun for him. Just love my nutty psychos!). Nice in Dus. But to me CLHT was where the hotness lies. Maybe because the movie was so not-good that I didn't have to focus on anything execpt his swagger? [plus, he is the solo hero as opposed to all the others mentioned]
Errr, anybody who knows the name of that Kareena/Zayed movie?

Date: 2005-09-21 01:06 pm (UTC)After your caps of CLHT, I am definitely watching it, especially as Esha has passed into "I don't care" stage for me, as opposed "die already"
It;s too funny about your reaction to MHN, because I totally adored him in it. People were going "the hair, the acting, the character" and my reaction was "but I loved the long hair better! and he's so cute, and has all that adorable chemistry with Amrita Rao" :P

What movie were they in together? I'm drawing a blank.

Date: 2005-09-21 04:07 pm (UTC)Zayed is kind of in the middle for me. Sometimes I think he's trying very hard to act like SRK (Shabd being the most notable example) and overdoing it, but he can also be pretty cute. Plus you know he's had direct contact with Hrithik, so he climbs even higher up the ladder for me for that one! Haha.

ROFL!
I think he's still pretyt young and new at this (which I like...freshness is good), so he's still learning the ropes. Though being like SRK isn't a bad thing at all :P Of course, overdoing it isn't good, but I haven't seen Shabd yet.

Date: 2005-09-21 09:48 pm (UTC)I do think he has an adorable smile. If you want to see him in a movie and don't mind action movies that get a bit on the melodrama side at the end (and are not overly smart because BW action seldom is), Dus is not a bad choice.
that one whose name I can't remember for the life of me
Hhhhhm. I am tempted to post pictures so as to figure out who...
